Love this shot.

There's a TomTom like GPS display on the left bottom corner. That's fucking great. :D

Certainly looks like Eden studios making good use of their extra dev time.

btw no reason for that mark ecko truck in the previosly posted shot. wtf.

the game lets you dress up your driver in licensed clothing from various designers including mark ecko

dlc is planned w/ the latest lineups from the designers

(no joke)

Eden Studiois was also behind the fantastic V-Rally series.. So I am confident that T-Test Unlimited should atleast not suck.

hasn't test drive always looked good but played like shit?

The original and the sequel weren't too bad. But it was just a steady slide down into the deepest layers of suck since then.

The first two Test Drive games were fucking classics. Test Drive 3 was also a fine game. Since then the name has been sullied by a load of shit.

Le Mans wasn't really a Test Drive game...it simply used the brand name. And the original TD Le Mans game on PC and PSX fucking sucked. The Melbourne House version for DC though (later ported to PS2 and PC without the Test Drive moniker) was a masterpiece though.

This game is probably the first attempt at making a REAL Test Drive game since TD3 way back in 1990...open roads, cars with realistic controls, and cops to deal with when you drive to fast. I'm really hoping this game delivers on it's promise.

Test Drive Unlimited has always looked great in screenshots and absolute laughable shit in real life. I'll never forget the joke that was Tokyo Game Show. I'll be damned if they manage to turn it around. Similar screenshots like these were distributed back then already and the game looked nothing like it.

TDU already looked quite a bit better at X05. I discussed the matters of the TGS build with the devs there and they were like "We have no idea what happened, this build should not have been shown to the public", or something like that.
Considering how GRAW looks now compared to the X05 build, I hope TDU has made the same type of progress.

i see angular divider lines on the pavement. WTF. this is 360.
Did you also look at the draw distance and background in those shots? 360 does not equal unlimited polycounts. :)

umm, i guess i'm not seeing what's leaving the rest of you in awe. rr6 looks a lot better.

btw, there was a movie of this making the rounds not too long ago, and the game looked like absolute crap in motion.

You all screamed at me a few months back when I gave this game props.

The game looks pretty damn good. That said, it's all due to lighting. Simply put, most released next gen titles lack 'realistic' lighting, for lack of a better term. If it runs smooth, I'll definitely give it a try (and no, 30 fps is enough for me for a game of this type/scope.)

I've got a lot of faith invested in this game. I know it is a very ambitous project and I hope they can deliver the goods. Plus I have some driving experience on Oahu, so I want to see the 1000 miles of road to compare against my memories.

some new screens... (I would post a few but I'm on 56k at the moment)

Thats what I always liked about the Test Drive Series. You could always do the little shit like putting the wipers or your headlights on.

I guess you have always been a Nintendork/console-only -player. Test Drive was great on C64 and Amiga/PC.

To be fair, half the board only started gaming in the PSX era.

Good to see them modelling the drivers...

The angularity kills the overall polish in that pic. I notice that a lot in RR6. The wheel hubs and stright lines around corners are all angular.

Yeah, I can say the game does look better now than it did at TGS. Footage I've seen recently looks really good... y'all should see it soon enough

(full disclosure: working on PR for the game)
