The 1up Show: Season 2

I agree that the backward compatibility ninjas need to get to work on making this playable on X360. I sold my Xbox because most of my Xbox games are BC, and there's just no way I'll be playing this on my PS2. I mean aside from the fact that I don't want to use the dual shock, the PS2 version won't have 5.1 sound. Fuck that...

I want Black on Rev. :[

Oh and f*ing nice show again. Although I'm quite "Nintendo only", I really like the shows even with little Nintendo stuff in recently. yay.

Just to clarify... I also thought the Black footage was very impressive. SiN is more my type of game though. I like my FPS's with a bit of "adventure"... Black looks like a massive frag fest ala Serious Sam and Quake. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just not a twitch gamer.

Sin doesn't look too interesting to me but the way they're developing it is interesting atleast.

Black looks good ofcourse even if that UK dude's kinda annoying to listen to for over 1 minute as he repeats the same jokes.

These are *SO* much better than that horrendous dreck Gamespot puts out.

I guess the people that work at 1up have actual personalities, which helps.

Not this overproduced show featuring hosts with extremely awkward camera presence that makes you feel as uncomfortable watching them as they do being filmed.

Black is easily my most anticipated game right now, and this new level looks fantastic. I do hope that this new footage is from an earlier build than the previously shown wilderness level. Some of the sound effects that were present in that version, like the thud of bodies hitting the ground and meaty impact of bullets ripping into enemies seem absent here.

Thanks 1UP, for making Black my most anticipated game at the moment.

Fantastic coverage, guys. The intro song especially is ace.

I think that scalable difficulty in sin is something that should be standard, reminds me of VF.

I really enjoyed that, thank you. And I also would like to echo the thoughts of Black on the 360. Either BC or a port, I don't mind!

heh, the PC Rant was funny, but it's also wierd. I mean, The 1up Show is watched off of PC's. So is the website. I can't watch the show of my 360 yet!

DOA4 am cry. I really punished the game in my EGM review this issue. :P Sorry, even though I think the game is fun, it's also fundamentally broken. So... yeah.

VF4 kumite mode FTW.

Sin sounds interesting, but it looks like crap. Generic crap. Just my opinion.

Is it just me or does the AI not look all that fantastic in Black? Don't care, I still want it.

I've been to the range in Vegas, that's some good USA fun-time. Good theme song, Jane. "is that the girl who used the Rez vibrator?" "I don't know, but check that theme song!"

what did the game get in egm? doa4

Just finished watching it. That was great! The guys pc rant was way off base though.! I've been watching it weekly now, good job on the show che.

I still stand by my decision a coulpe weeks back, EGM would give it 8 at the highest, which means it's still better then the last 2 tekken games :P I figure Che gave it a 7. And the other 2 reviews were 7.5 and maybe an 8.

It really just keeps getting better and better. All the praise I could give it has already been given, so I'll just leave it at that.

Sin even make PDZ look impressive. Just looking at the gameplay footage gives nothing more than an averange vibe.

Black on the other hand looks great and you get to blow shit up.

The Famicom mixer was sweet. Thats not porn! Yeah right...

wtf. I've probably tried downloading the wmv and qt versions of this 7-8 times combined now. no fucking dice. stops at around 90% every time and it doesn't allow me to resume the download either. F U zdmedia server. :(

re-watching that 11 min gameplay vid of sin eps while waiting for it to download again. loving the look/feel of the very slow combat in this. if it was my game I'd really only want two "major" changes for it at this point (pretending there are no other bugs or gameplay issues fucking up the game); do away with the invisible hand button/door/stuff half-life type interaction, just really simple hand animations will do it (check out prey trailers), and two, even higher contrast overall art design to set it more apart from everything else done in the source engine. but anyway, I'm hitting that game day one. bring it bitches.

.. error on the download at 88.2% again. fuck you assholes. :(

Loved the new intro. LOVED the Black interview and footage (Black shall be the first normal FPS I ever purchased), didn't care much for Sin, but the interview was good and had some nice information.

But...

Did anyone else find the 6955 "interview" very awkward and hard to watch?

Great fucking episode. The new intro is great, really catchy.

Black just looks better and better, I can't wait to try out the demo for it.

So, there is no info on Black for X360 because of an NDA? It seems the question, "Will we see Black on X360?" would be a good question to ask. The next-gen development comment was "Vacation!!". WTF.

Was Jason a Dutch guy?

If so, shouldn't it be "de Groot" instead of "Degroot"? Just a little thing though ;)

Great show, again! :)

Jason hails not from the Netherlands but from Canadia. I dunno, he might be Dutch Canadian. :)

Thanks for watching!

Che just needs to figure out how to play DoA4 properly! ;) I just beat Alpha 152 in 40 seconds in two rounds for time attack. :)

Good show. Loved the Alex Ward bits. Funny guy. SiN looks all right. Not a huge Nintendo fan so I really didn't care too much for the music section in the middle.

I think DOA4 is kinda busted, but it's all I play nowadays on my 360 so... yeah, it's one of those games. I wish the online wasn't so laggy, that's for sure.

Perhaps if we can get a DoA4 game going again tonight you can join in. Not sure how big the rooms are, but the key is really to keep it at about 5 people or under in the lobbies. I hardly have any lag problems online and I've put in nearly 300 matches online now.

In a way, DoA4 reminds me of Ninja Gaiden in terms of game speed. The game moves so fast it takes awhile to adjust to it. But once you do, things start slowing down and you see things more clearly.

Actually, it isn't that I think the game too fast (it's certainly very smooth, yes) because VF4 Evo and SC3 actually feel faster to me. I actually think the game feels a little slow once you get used to the flow. And what's the flow for the average player? Throw out a 5-8 hit string, and if you connect, you tack on a ground hit, then back up or anticipate a rising attack (50-50 on that so I don't know if it's always worth it). The defending person either blocks or counters but tacking on 4 counter inputs makes a lot of the high and mid counters a guessing game. So it's basically, throw out a string, then block against a string. Throw out a string, defend against a string. Really reminds me of games like Bloody Roar (I enjoyed the first one).

I haven't had much luck at all with online. It's better at the office since it's plugged into an ethernet jack, but at home, on wifi, online matches choke every time. :(

That's more or less how I felt about DOA2 and DOA3. It may be mindless and broken, but the series is an enjoyable guilty pleasure.

To chime in with everyone else, I really liked the new intro/ending sequences; wasn't expecting that right out of the gate for the new year. The game footage bored me (Ward was funny though some of the things he said were triggering my bullshit meter), but that had to happen some time. While Sin was entirely underwhelming, I'm glad someone's trying episodic content again (following Atlus' .hack series on the PS2), as I think that's a fantastic alternative approach to the current entrenched game model of long development times, high investment, and banking on retail shelf space. It'd certainly be great for things like music games, such as Nintendo's Donkey Konga installments or Sony's SingStar variations.
