I wouldn't be surprised, I suspect my 512MB 4850 holds me back. What CPU do you have? I have a feeling e8400 at stock speed also slows me down in some cases.

X2 550 at stock atm. I think the 3.1 ghz clock speed is going a long way. I am super impressed with both the new CPU and video card. I feel like I can go buy a 1080p monitor and not have to worry about my settings now.

Those STALKER screens are beautiful. Out of interest, what hardware would I need to run that on, say, 1360x768? Looking to upgrade my PC somewhat to run some stuff, but I'm only looking to run everything on a 19" widescreen at that resolution.

That's not a very high resolution. I'd say a couple of gigs of memory and either a GTX 250 or a HD 4850. What do you guys think?

I think it is, but for a better confirmation, I'd recommend checking in with the guys on this thread: GAF'S ultimate $500/£400/$650 CAD budget gaming rigs + bonus high end configs!

Definitely for Left4Dead2, you'll be fine. For the others, you might need a HD 4870.

I do not get the people that think WoW is an ugly looking game. You are hard pressed to find a 5 year old game (let alone an MMO) that still looks that good today.

Playing through the PC version of Prince of Persia so I nabbed a few shots maxed at 1400X900.

I think the bigger problem is the terrible art style. Nothing about it is appealing to me, honestly.

I've been replaying Mass Effect recently, largely to check out how it plays with a female protagonist, since I've seen so many recommendations.

It's also been interesting because it has really highlighted how much I love and hate this game. The parts I like are some of my favorite game moments and mechanics in recent memory, and the things I dislike are some of my absolute least favorite.

What's interesting is that this applies to both gameplay as well as things like story and atmosphere and tone. There's a lot of hokey sci-fi stuff that I find lame, but also a lot of completely rad sci-fi that I love. So here are some screenshots of the stuff I like.

it can do with a mod but it only works in window mode i think and you'll probably need a graphics card with 2gb of vram as it eats the stuff for fun
