FFXII Special Edition came with a history of Final Fantasy DVD. It was pretty nice. (I think it was FFXII that came with it)

G4tv used to have a great show called "Game Makers" or something like that, they were great documentaries on game developers, game companies, consoles, games, and a whole bunch of stuff.

Shame it was thrown away when G4tv committed suicide by removing almost all game content.

They really cover an astonishing amount in those.

Totally difficult to find now, but X-Factor: Inside the Xbox on Discovery Channel was great. They focused on various games, including Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge and the lead designer being 'transfered' and a new lead designer coming in. Late nights before E3 and other events. It provided a great inside view of gaming, and not the marketing bull you typically see.

The first making of I really enjoyed was for Soul Reaver 2... or was it Defiance?

Not quite a "Making Of" but the mockumentary, "The Goblin Man of Norway", that was on the end of various Too Human developer diaries is one of the most brilliant gaming-related things I've ever seen.

The Gametrailers Retrospective series is really good. I haven't seen any new ones in a long time, but I seem to remember the Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, and Zelda ones being excellent and informative.

The original World of Warcraft dev diaries from the Collector's Edition DVD are pretty interesting to watch, especially when you bare in mind what a phenomenon WoW would eventually go on to become.

In the early 80:ies Imagine was a successfull and hyped developer and BBC was doing a documentary about them and the development of their new "mega-games" (basically cartridge games with lots of extra features). But due to Imagine's financial mismanagement the company instead fell apart and went bankrupt in front of the cameras.
