This thread was inspired by Sciz's wonderful Sonic music thread. I think there should be more threads of this kind. It'll help us move away from all the petty console bickering. I hope.

Ramenman, Amir0x, Anihawk, Snaku, ICallItFutile - These are all people who I've noticed share my passion for Beyond Good & Evil. Are you also a fan? If so, I hope you like my thread.

This right here is a celebration of the music of BG&E. It'll give us something to occupy ourselves with while we wait for a sequel (oh yes). Click the green song titles.

Thank you Michel Ancel for this amazing game, and Christophe Heral for the superb soundtrack.

Dancing with the Domz is by far my favorite. SOOOO good! I've always got it playing on my iPod. Which, I might add, plays it back way better than Youtube.

I've always loved how it basically sounded like the musical interpretation of a battle, what with the choir-like vocalizations (representing Alyx), and the more gutteral vocals representing the Domz. Good shit!

Kickass OP and banners, btw.

Man this game was phenomenal and I love the score equally as much.

I've got to replay this. Which version was best, Gamecube, Xbox or PC?

lol compressing that first 1.3MB pic to a few hundred KB really wouldn't have hurt its quality.

What do you think? PC. But the game looked phenomenal on all systems. Very polished game. If you can't get it on the PC it really isn't bad to get the console versions.

Edit: nvm, now that it's been mentioned that the PC version has no gamepad support I guess it's not the best version.

I have the PS2 version and it's good. I'd say Xbox version since its Ubi.

Lots of BG&E threads have covered this before, and all 3 versions vary for different reasons, but I think it was the GCN version that features french voice actors or something... not sure. I think the GCN version was the definitive version, though.

Can someone tell me where Funky Bar 100 plays in the game? Played through it 5 times and never heard it.

It's the combinations of different styles that makes Heral's work so flawless. Orchestral for the dramatic moments, piano for the emotion, beatboxing for the stealth (<3).

I love this game so much. Everything about it was beautiful. I want a sequel so so so bad! I really hope Michel Ancel completes the trilogy. One of my favorite games of all time.

Nice thread! Hope you put up more songs!

yeah what a shame we never got a sequel, yet we get Tom Clancy Rainbow Poop every year. :(

Ancel has to have been doing something for the last 2 years

Believe!

Thanks everyone. I'm adding more songs but I'm cutting down on the pics - I think the OP takes up enough space as it is.

Also it's nearly 2 am and I'm tired as all hell :lol

Haha I just remembered two days after I bought this game at full price they reduced the price to $20. Boy was I pissed.

What a stupid mistake by Ubi. In a game like this... Now I don't feel so bad about getting the PS2 version over the PC version.

Yeh, they did the same with Sands of Time. I had no issues using keyboard/mouse in either game, but I can understand why some people would.

While I'd still put the game as a whole a tier below games like Zelda, I found the artistic presentation, both graphics and sound, to be top notch. My three favorites are Hylian Suite, Home Sweet Home, and Fun and Minigames.

I've never quite understood the love for this game. It's certainly a few notches above average, but I picked it up for $10 about a year ago because I'd heard nothing but good things about it.. and as much fun as I had with it... the only noteworthy thing about it was the excellent style (that comes through in the main character design, the music, the dialog and some of the other art).

It is one of the few video games out there that tries to be more than just a game

So what does it try to be, exactly?

The gaming part of Beyond Good and Evil got the credit it deserved, 80-90 review scores. Decent but no GOTY. However the style and presentation of this game is where it truely shines. Instead of being simply content with entertainment, BG&E was one of the very few who tried to move out of this sphere and become art, even if it only reached it by a bit. If gaming as an industry wants to move out of being a child's game and into a serious industry, we need more Beyond Good & Evils, and less Tomb Raiders or Dead or Alives.
