I'm a person who also thinks Superman Returns wasn't a bad film...it was just the wrong film. It is the best you can get while continuing the old series, but should have started fresh and gotten off the "Do it for Reeves" kick.

Catwoman. Wonder Woman has failed to materialize. Aquaman fails to land on CW!? Justice League movie is a horrible idea for a studio who can't stand up to Marvel.

I doubt that'll happen until after the movie is released. Even then, I'm sure there'll be a good percentage of those who think the third movie will be a remake of Forever.

its funny how two-face will most likely be one of the main guys in the 3rd film, but instead of the Riddler being the second one, let Mr. Freeze (played by Ed Norton or Kevin Spacey) fill that role.

Two-Face should be the main rogues gallery villain, but I don't think Mr. Freeze should suddenly be there. I wouldn't mind the Joker coming back in the third one, and Two-Face getting revenge or seeking justice (sorta bringing the trilogy full-circle with Neeson's character's version of justice).

that does sound like it will be good, but I really just want to see Mr. Freeze the way he sould be played by a good actor while they can still pull it off. I imagine that by the 4th film, if there would even be one, some of the actors will be pulling out and maybe even Nolan will leave.
 
I just watched Batman Returns, god what I'd give for the third movie to Burton's films...such cool/dark atmosphere - Batman Begins is good, but man I'd love to see where he would have taken Dent (Billy Dee).

Michelle Pfeiffer was meant to return for the third movie, but it became a huge cluster**** with Burton winding up not doing it. In a roundabout way, I guess it was the best for the series.
 
yeah, the death of the Burton/Schumacher Batman was maybe the best thing to happen to the Batman movies because it eventually led to Begins and now The Dark Knight.

here is hoping that the death and rebirth of the Spider-man movies goes as smooth as Batman and doesnt follow the path of Superman
 
I wouldn't like to see a Victor Fries character, to be honest, let alone a Mr. Freeze. Let's be serious here: Mr. Freeze has only truly became an acceptable and cool villain for Batman in the last 10 years or so when Heart of Ice was released for the Animated Series. He's not really that...well, vital, I think. I'd much rather see, after the Joker and Two-Face, probably Selina Kyle or even the freakin' Riddler.
 
not only is he not vital, he's sort of ridiculous. it works in the animated series, but it would be goofy as hell in the nolan batman films. it even seemed pretty outlandish in the schumacher film, for god's sake.
 
I wouldn't mind Mr. Freeze and I trust Nolan could pull it off, but I don't see how he could fit within the next two movies. Freeze doesn't seem like a mini-villain to me.

It's not so much his power that everyone likes. It's his character and motive. They could apply that to another villain.

Mr. Freeze is a major Batman villian, but he's one of the most "comic book" style villian. He has a great character and motivation, but it would be hard to translate to a movie. Nolan could probably pull it off with a very toned down cryo-suit.

take the motive and character of Mr. Freeze and slap it on Bane's body, I can see that work if anything.

I do get that Mr. Freeze is really comic like and animated to fit with Nolan as we see him now, but he is still one of my favorite Batman villians. Also, Edward Norton would be perfect to play him.
 
i love his origin episode in t.a.s., link. i also think clayface's origin and follow-up episodes are totally great. i just don't think they belong in these movies.
 
Mr Freeze? Keep the more retarded villains outtahere. Thankfully Nolan is only up for 3 movies total, he won't ever need to scrape down the bottom of the barrell.

yeah, for every bit of awesome Batman Begins was and The Dark Knight will be with their real and dark take on Batman, I am kinda sad that the more comic book like villians of Batman just wouldent work or seem weird in Nolan's style.
 
LOL, I get the whole Batman 89 thing too ... I tried to explain to my (usually intelligent) friend that Burton's films don't exist in the Begins universe and all I got was a "so are they bringing Jack Nicholson back?".

Batman returns Catwoman was so perfect, maybe a litttle too dark but perfect.
It's too bad she's like 40 something now.

Seeing the new logo's color scheme, WB would have to mess up on purpose to make bad posters. I wasn't a fan of the dirty brown of Begins.

Yeah, that poster kicked all kinds of press release material back to the top. I think it looks pretty damn nice. Hopefully they kick it up a notch on the posters this time around having introduced people - I think they were wary to alienate anyone from the start with Begins and decided to go vague/safe with it. Shouldn't that be the first thing they release? I think Spider-man 3's bell tower poster was the first thing they released.

Anyway, I imagine comic con will have a lot of things like that in store.
 
Hopefully they hire some better peeps to cut the trailers this time around. As good as BB is, it had some of the worst trailers for a blockbuster in recent memory.

I don't think Victor Freiz could work in the Nolan movies. Scarface could, since he's more psychological and street crime oriented. But Mr Freeze was about as good a villian as there was in the animated series.

Of course, there's only one choice to play the man of ice...

You would've thought that Batman and Robin could've at least gotten the casting right, hiring him for Freeze and Arnie for that 30 second Bane cameo. But nope...couldn't even get that done.

Dude, the Begins teaser was AWESOME.
 
I guess its a matter of opinion (obviously). NONE of the BB trailers made the movie look anything above mediocre to me. Thankfully, the movie proved that wrong.

Yeah, I guess. I wasn't thrilled with the later trailers at all, but the teaser was great.

At one time Stewart was going to play Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin. I don't know what happened, I think he read the script or something.

Well, according to shooting schedules, the crew is gonna be in or near San Diego during Comic-Con....too much of a coincidence. They have to have some sort of presence there, so I'd say look for at the least a few official teaser pictures in July.

If that fails, look for a teaser in December, according to the Joker.

I think that John Malkovich would make a great Mr Freeze. He has that cold demeanor about him that would work well with the character.

I was told by more than one BOF'er/scooper that some of the stuff filmed at the University of Westminster is right out of BATMAN #1, but updated for today's times. I won't spoil it, but I will say if you've read that comic book story, you'll probably figure out what I'm talking about.

The only thing missing from the character is his trademark laugh, which is held off for now.

Think about how well he adapted a villain as patently rediculous as The Scarecrow for Begins. It worked awesomely. I could easily see villains like Penguin or even Mad Hatter working fine in a Nolan film.
 
I really can't do this. I can't ruin this film before I see it. Pretty soon I'm going to submerge like Hideo Kojima with MGS2 - and I don't mean to be coming back.

Ugh, it is no more outlandish than a man dressing up as a bat and fighting giant microwaves in a car that jumps from rooftop to rooftop. It's Batman people, no matter how many times people say 'this or that won't work in Nolan's world'. It's not realistic just because they explained a couple of his gadgets. If the goofy ask Scarecrow was pulled off convincingly in so many people's opinion, any villain could be.

:lol Sounds pretty believable. He did play Professor X in 3 flicks, so it's not like he has an aversion to comic-based scripts. Just bad comic-based scripts.

I would love to know if Nolan and/or the crew has watched anything the animated series or the related movies for reference points.
 
From what I understand the reason Arnold got the role for Mr. Freeze is because he saw Independence Day the previous summer and wanted to be in a huge special effects extravaganza like that (I think he had worn himself out trying to get Cameron to agree to Terminator 3).

I doubt Stewart would've taken the role anyway after reading the script.
