Yeah, the design did suck, but the episode's cool. I think in the comic he's his Animated Series design.

I HATED when they redesigned the series to make it look like Superman: TAS - Joker suffered the most from the redesign, he looks retarded. Thankfully in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker they got the design down right.

God, that movie was great.
The flashback was pitch perfect....so creepy.

Really? I think that the Penguin would be one of the characters that would fit best into Nolan's world. Burton's imagining of him was an enormous departure from the comic character. There was a rumor floating around before that Philip Seymour Hoffman was being considered for a minor role as the Penguin in TDK. I personally think that would have been awesome - imagine him like this and you'd pretty much get the idea:

I'd love Bob Hoskins who was the other rumor.

LOS ANGELES — All directors promise that their sequels will be bigger and flashier than the predecessors'. But Christopher Nolan doesn't mess around.

The director's sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, will become the first feature film to be partly shot in the IMAX format, an expensive and cumbersome process that typically is the province of documentaries and short films.

Nolan will shoot four action sequences — including the introduction of the Joker, played by Heath Ledger — on IMAX

The move is one of Hollywood's most pronounced steps yet in its embrace of IMAX theaters, which are increasingly showing commercial fare on their giant screens.

"There's simply nothing like seeing a movie that way," Nolan says. "It's more immersive for the audience. I wish I could shoot the entire thing this way."

i keep picturing Patrick Swayze under there.

Is it a coincidence that Point Break 2 is greenlit at the sametime TDK is filming?

Isn't it obvious yet?! POINT BREAK 2 IS THE DARK KNIGHT! :O

The IMAX scenes are only going to make the rest of the movie look inferior in quality. Not like it matters to me, there are no IMAX theaters where I live. :P Kudos to Nolan for at least trying something new.

Uh oops. Theres 2 shots

:lol I thought that was some sort of sci-fi machinery before realizing it was the camera. :P

WB seriously needs to show a properly lit picture of the Joker asap before some shit picture leaks making him look like ass, just like it happened with the Batsuit and Begins. Because people will overanalize even the smaller and crappier pictures. People like me.

So...

Seems like The Joker's "smile" goes all the way to his ears? Wtf? Not really liking the puffy hairdo either.

Looks like Cesar Romero's Joker risen from the dead right there. Which is insanely hilarious, since the awful 1966 Batman movie happened to be on last night, featuring Mr. Romero himself.

Remember how dumb Scarecrow looked in the promo shots? Trust in the Nolan.

Agreed.

These are all shots that haven't gone through a layer of color editing. I bet a fair share of Batman Begins would look silly if it were shown as it was immediately after they filmed it.

Anyone have any of those awful Scarecrow shots that have been mentioned? I'd like to see how lame they looked before going through post production shit.

Im wondering if thats where the up-close Joker shot is from. Notice how he's like a few inches away from the camera. Probably used some photoshop to make it dark around him.

I also the Joker in the Gotham Knights episode Mad Love. Pretty frickin sick in that one, which they actually aired. Timm and Dini won an Eisner award for the comic it started out as.

Terrible design but thanks god the original voice is the same (here in Brasil they changed Batman´s voice... wich was perfect!) Also the history is great...

Btw that Batman laugh at the last act was awesome!

how can you guys make any judgements, good or bad, based on that picture? Jesus you can't see shit. When i first glanced at it i didn't even notice it was Joker and thought it was the cameraman's reflection.

I agree Scooter that's why I was like the **** when brandon made his comments, I mean haven't even seen a clear picture of him yet he's the "best"?

I know this will be shit on but I think these are some REALLY good scenes from Returns:

Selena and Bruce:

Catwoman's Transformation:

As a kid :lol I was honestly shocked that Max pushed her out the window - that truly was ****ed up.

yeah, i'm kind of wondering if someone can explain what i'm looking at here. is the glass the bank teller's window, thus distorting the joker? it's fairly obvious why they wouldn't want to fully reveal the look yet, but i'm curious if it's an intentional obscuring or if they just picked a blurry shot.

if you take the Ibelieveinharveydenttoo, mix it with this new blurry pic, use some imagination, it looks totally awesome.

:lol Yeah, I still don't know what the **** I'm supposed to be seeing there. BB/Nolan fans seem just a little too excited.

The closeup pic from the Harvey site looks cool though, so if that's the representation then that's good enough. Still, not gonna call him the best ever just yet.

How can people hate the BTAS redesigns? How can you prefer that Emeril Lagasse type physique the show started with? Batman fans are just ****ing weird.

Look at that awesome coat Chris Nolan is wearing!! A man with style! TDK WINS!

Are you....are you serious? Everyone looks like shit in the redesigns, ESPECIALLY the Joker. Gone are the red lips and green hair, and you get somethnig that looks like it's fallen out of the Tiny Toons. Even Batman looks off.
