If it happens again I'd suggest just spawning her with the console. If it doesn't work she's definitely dead. In which case use the resurrect command and then spawn her.

This has been known to reset NPC inventories though which would be a shame for your staff collection.

Game looks so beautiful in 4K. I was down by the water in an area with all the orange leafy trees, the sun was going down so the sky was all orange the orange sun reflecting off the water. Gorgeous. Then 300 feet away a buck comes to the water to drink. I figure why not, So I aim well above the bucks head and the arrow drops and kills it. Then the wife steps in to check her mate. I draw my bow, the kill cam engages. Gaming Nirvana.

Well I've finally come to terms with the fact that the game has turned into a dress-up simulator. I'll boot it up every couple weeks, check out the new clothing/armor mods, run around for ten minutes, shut it off.

I tried playing the Special Edition but damn, it looks bad compared to the modded version I have... I'm not sure I'll have the patience to mod the whole thing again :(

Any word on when skui and the script extender will be fully ported over to the new edition of skyrim?

Copying this from a post I made in the modding thread. It was in response to a slightly different question but hopefully you find it useful!

... the modding scene for SSE is healthy and active and many great mods have been created or ported over.

However, the catalyst for true parity with OldRim will be the release of SKSE64 which is TENTATIVELY due to release in beta form this March according to the devs.

For those who don't know, SKSE, or Skyrim Script Extender enables a cornucopia of the most popular mods of old by allowing the use of custom scripting etc. these mods include SkyUI, the complete version of Frostfall and Campfire, Convenient Horses and many, many more.

Another key feature of SKSE is the implementation of the MCM, an in-game mod management menu that is a godsend for anyone running a heavily modded build.

Hope that clarifies things! Cheers.

Finished up Dawnguard. I enjoyed it, though it was a hike at times. Serana was a cool character and there were some tense encounters, but doing it early I didn't have access to much fast travel so there was a lot of time spend on foot/horse. Other than that the only bad thing is now I have a set of 3 twenty pound Elder Scrolls that I can't remove from my inventory.

Given how things turned out on the non-vampire side, I'm kind of curious to see how things turn out if you side with Harkon. But now it's time to really dive into the main quest and sprinkle in some Thieves Guild missions.

I always check compass to see if someone/something is hostile before starts shooting. It will show red dot. It helps in open world game like Skyrim to avoid killing someone early.

Solid tip. I'll have to keep an eye on that going forward.

Quest items don't actually add to your carry weight, but it's obnoxious to be stuck with them. Give the orc in charge of the arcanaeum up at College of Winterhold a visit.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. I noticed that some quest items have a weight of 0 and others don't (like the Scrolls which show as 20), so I just assumed the ones without zeroes added to my carry weight. That is comforting to know. I guess it's all those potions weighing me down instead. I'm pretty good about unloading unnecessary stuff but noticed I have a crap ton of those and most are 0.5 a pop. It's always "well, I might need it" ha.

Planning on spending some time at Winterhold after the Thieves Guild. I'll keep an eye out for that orc. Thanks for the heads-up on both points!

Well, this has been a lot of fun since sometime just before Halloween. Wow, I don't think a game has ever taken me this long to finish. I hadn't ever played it before the remaster came out. Good stuff.

I have onnnnnnnnnnnne thing left to do to get that 100% achievement.
I have to kill a legendary dragon. While googling it seems as if they don't spawn until somewhere around level 78. I'm only 58. Man...is there any easy way to do this? I can't see just fucking off for 20 more levels but I really need that 100%.

You need to use a wide array of skills to get that high. It helps to plan in advance; what I'm doing on my current character is trying to train a full 5 levels on a skill I'm not using to help get there. But another approach is to add regular training to the mix on some side skill, and change play style partway through. Been going one-handed and light armor and have them nearly maxed? Switch to two handed and heavy armor and level those. Make sure to max out the three crafting skills. Pickpocketing is one that levels up pretty fast, as well.

You can sell two of them to the Moth Priest in the Dawnguard headquarters for a hefty hunk of change.

Thanks. yes, I've been pretty one-dimensional in my play through. 2 handed, archery, thief, lockpick/pickpocket, heavy armor for the most part. 100 on smithing too. I've barely touched any sort of magic.

Also don't forget your Stones. If you already chose one (say the Thief Stone) you can go back and pick another one (say the Mage Stone) to beef up that set of attributes faster. You'll still have to actually use those skills, but at least the Stones make it so you level them up faster.

^ That is both absolutely hilarious, and spot-on. :lol

I'm working on the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild quests now, with some Daedric in the mix. Tonight I was ransacking Riften, snagging lots of tasty metal bars from the basement of the blacksmith, when his assistant surprised me on the way out. I got a bit sloppy, I guess. I high tailed it out, but not before a 5 gold bounty landed on me. I am carrying other stolen goodies I don't want to fork over to the guards (Mythic Dawn hoods, for starters), so I trot away from a guard who is moving in to make an arrest.

Down in the Ragged Flagon, I head to Tonilia to sell some loot when suddenly the guard appears and tries to arrest me.

Instant pandemonium, ending about as you might expect.

I didn't lift a finger. Good to know the Guild has my back. Not sure what the guard was expecting, coming down there solo.....

At any rate, I head out of town and now guards are really after my ass; they must have noticed her missing. Heading north through the hot springs, I come across a group of three obvious vampires pretending to be Vigilants of Stendar. Right behind me is a pair of mammoths shepherded by a giant.

I run straight through the circle of vampires, who turn hostile and are *instantly* stomped to death by the giant and his stead. Once again, I didn't have to lift a finger. Well, just to snag their vampire dust. I was low on invisibility potions, anyways.

It's nice to have others do some work for me for a change.

Lover Stone will increase all skills 15% faster. Also, the oghma infinium glitch will get you a few extra levels if you haven't already read the book.

So I'm going to install this again because I need a good explore, level, adventure game. I have the SE because of the whole freebie upgrade on Steam. It includes everything available, right? Is SE mod supported in a way that it's worth playing over the non SE?

Also, for mods, is there a good running list of what's worth grabbing? I would love a good UI overhaul, more/diverse weapons, expanded crafting, new areas/dungeons to explore...

There's a thread devoted exclusively to Skyrim SE mods. You might check there.

See my post at the top of this page for the status of the "OldRim vs. SE" modding question.

What you're asking for encompasses the large majority of mods available - numbering the the high thousands.

As Anderson said, check the GAF SE modding thread or I recommend getting up to speed via YouTube and the Nexus.

Thanks guys - I'll check it out.

Hopefully someone can help me with a problem I'm having. I have all my settings maxed and the game runs amazing. I have a few mods installed after some research last night:

Apocalypse, Ars metallica, Expanded Jewelry Crafting, Ordinator, Stones of Barenziah, Vivid Weathers, and Unofficial SE Patch.

Check out this screenshot. Everything just looks a bit blurry and unfocused. It actually gives me a bit of a headache to play. Is this normal or is there a setting that I need to adjust?

I had a glitch in my solstheim home. I had 3 dragon priest masks and put them on mannequins in the main room I go to sleep and my Krosis mask is just gone. By the time I noticed any save where I still had it was gone or too far back to make it worth it. My other two masks now regenerate after a day so when I take them off I sell them and the next day right back on the mannequins.

That's what I thought. It legit makes the game unplayable right now. Any idea what the solution is?

Not me. I am a console peasant. Maybe one of the PC guys can chime in. All I know is that the screen you posted looks more like it came from the original Skyrim I played 5 years ago on the 360 than the updated SE. Something's not right, but I don't know what it is.

So...I'm trying to do the quest where I have to find Neloth's steward, and the marker tells me that she's underneath a ramp at Tel Mithryn. Is there any workaround for this?

I assume by apocalypse you mean apocalypse magic, right?

Anyway my non-expert opinion is that, of those mods, Vivid Weathers is the likely problem. Tinker with that. If you'd like to try an alternative, Climates of Tamriel is fantastic too.

If that's not your culprit, it's possible you're running in a mismatched resolution. Make sure your monitor matches the game settings.

Lastly, I've seen this issue occur due to the steps involved when running a cracked copy. If you may or may not be running one of these you might want to retrace your steps with that installation process.

I know you said you got the copy for free thanks to the Steam upgrade so I'm not implying anything or accusing anyone of anything and I really don't care about that! Just thought I'd mention it as a possible cause.

Cheers.

Ha glad you took it the way I meant it. I don't give a flying fuck about who's running what software - none of my business! People can get touchy when you mention that so thank you for not.

Anyway hope it works for you. Modding is great but sometimes you just have to bash your head against a wall to get things to play nice. Always happy to try and help.

For about a week I had a giant hanging out at my house near Falkreath. He didn't bug me and so I left him alone. It was a calm, if tense, truce.

Until the courier showed up.

So in addition to being an assassin with a murderous streak a mile wide, a thief with a mischievous streak and a penchant for collecting Daedric artifacts while killing as many people as possible, Nei is also an adoptive mother. She's got two daughters at the Falkreath house that she showers with presents: sweet rolls, pie, daggers, and giant piles of cash to use as they wish. And more daggers.

The other day I was doing a loot drop at the house, when I step outside and find a courier waiting for me. I get stuck in the locked gaze mode while he delivers his speech. "I've been looking for you. Got something I'm supposed to deliver...."

In the background I hear my neighborly giant agitating. I'm standing in his personal space. Then footsteps. Thump. Thump. THUMP.

"That's everything. Got to go!"

*crunch*

Reload.

Naturally, it reloads from where I stepped outside the house and met the courier. This time I jam circle to back out of his dialog and get away from the door just in time. The giant smashes the delivery guy, and I realize he's one of those important NPC's, because he can't die. (He was delivering the second part of the Potema quest.) The courier lays curled up and limping at my doorway, with the giant lording over him, while I watch from a safe distance.

After a few moments, the courier got up and fled before the giant could smack him again. He fled right through my front door, leaving the giant standing on my doorstep.

I sprint to the door and open it before I'm whacked, and the delivery guy is huddled in the corner of the entryway hiding from the giant. "Don't kill me!" he cries. Well, I can't, otherwise I would. Okay, maybe not in front of the girls, both of whom came to check out their guest.

They also begin bugging me to play a game with them for some reason. Kids like to play, I guess. I usually just bribe them with cash, but Nei has a soft spot, so I did what any responsible parent would do.

I told them to go play outside.

Shortly after they went outside, the delivery boy found his courage and stood up, said his farewells, and went out the door as well.

Needless to say, when I followed him outside, it was pandemonium.

The girls appeared to be playing a game of hide and seek, with seeker being the giant, and the courier being the most panicked referee in the history of the sport. The courier managed to avoid getting whacked while the girls ran literal circles around the giant, screaming. I think they were having a blast, but sometimes it's hard to tell with kids.

I was just sitting back soaking in the chaos, when the giant took notice of me and started charging. That's fine, I still don't hold a grudge toward the guy - he's not he sharpest dagger in the armory - so I took the opportunity to kite him away from the house a bit. My plan was to use Calm and leave him there, but one of my kids decided to follow, and he made a mistake.

He took a swing at my brunette daughter. One paralysis potion later, I left his corpse in the woods to the south of the house. No need for the kids to see.

That was a few days ago. Another giant showed up in the same spot last night. So long as he keeps the peace, I'm happy to have him around. I wonder if he'll fend off bandit attacks for me...

Unrelated, thiefy backstabber is definately my favorite build to play. This never gets old.

RIP Thalmor j/k rot in Oblivion

Giants must like Lakeview Manor. I had one hanging around behind my house as I was finishing up initial construction. I was going to let him be but one day I overhead some commotion and went back to find him murdering an NPC named Wood Cutter for no readily apparent reason.

I decided I couldn't tolerate that kind of behavior near the house that I'm planning to move the wife and kids into so he received a healthy dose of ebony arrows, the last of which went right through the center of his throat. Brutal, but you've gotta protect the family.

Is there any way I can carry on my PS3 save on the PS4 version of this, either via mods, or at least being able to generally catch up to where I was up to in terms of stats and abilities for my character, main and side quests completed, and what have you?

I never got that far in the main quest (to Alduin's Wall), but I'd put a load of hours in it, finished a large amount of side quests, and explored a large amount of the map, so I'm not really sure if I'd want to start from scratch. That being said, it has been years since I played it, so it's not exactly fresh in my mind.

If it's been years I highly recommend you try a fresh start. That being said, what you're asking for isn't possible on PlayStation. Also you're comparing two separate games and, while certain people have had success bringing old saves to SSE on PC, the PS4 lacks the infrastructure to try this.

Just dive back in. You'll have fun.

No, no way to do that. You'll have to start over. You can use mods to "cheat" your way forward faster (e.g., increase leveling rates), but that'll unbalance the game.

Don't worry about your previous play through, just start fresh and get lost in it again as I assume you enjoyed your initial foray into the game (otherwise why would you buy it again?!)... It'll feel familiar AND fresh at the same time and leveling up at first goes super quick, at least till you hit 50+. Try a different build/race, maybe even finish the main quest this time (I know, crazy talk).

Alright, I'll jump back in from the start then, and continue my PS3 playthrough sometime down the line.

I'm not sure what race or playstyle to go with this time around though. I definitely want to play a sort of evil character, or not fully heroic at least.

I'm torn between going a dual wield orsimer, or a dunmer with magic in my main hand and a one handed weapon, possibly a dagger, in my left hand, and focus on stealth too. On my original playthough I was a Khajiit who focused on stealth and archery, and wore heavy armour and brawled bare fist (or clawed in my case) if enemies spotted me. I know I don't want to go either sword and shield or pure magic at least.

Edit: I decided to do both, but using some mods for my Orc run (no waiting outdoors, horses with more stamina, and graphical things).

Have they confirmed any more details about the Switch version? Last I heard it was some kind of hybrid between Oldrim and the SE. In which case ... I'm kinda underwhelmed.

On the one hand - mobile Skyrim! Phenomenal. This is really cool.

On the other - I'm used to playing it with graphics and content mods installed so vanilla seems like a big step down. I'm also skeptical of the performance. I remember the PS3 version.

Did I miss an announcement with a release date and version details?
