Nah...doesn't look like a good list of contenders for me. Perhaps with exception of DS.

Gonna be a boring show this time.

Days Gone got robbed.

Easily most fun I've had all year, great writing and performances too.

Irrespective of what state the game was in at launch, Bend worked diligently squashing bugs, adding features, modes, and content post release to the extent that it is a unarguably way better now than it was. Most importantly all was added at no extra charge to the player.

If we had a gaming press with any sort of fucking class or integrity, they'd reward this. But we don't and what is deservedly a GOTY candidate, gets roundly ignored.

Outer Worlds should not be in any of the categories. It does nothing exciting or great. It's just a safe experience and people praise it only because Obsidian. I dont even want to get started about DS but its Geof's show and he surely sucks Kojima's dick so whatever. I'll watch for the reveals.

I like this lineup of games a lot. Maybe not the hobby's most brilliant, but there's a lot of great stuff. It should be fun to see what wins.

Also pleasantly surprised that SSB didn't get swallowed in the gap between years.

Sony cares more about sales than awards. Bend will be ok and that's all that matters.

Death Stranding nominated for a ton of categories. Wow! I thought they'd stick with narrative, GotY and action/adventure.

I have a feeling GOTY will be given to Death Stranding even though I don't think it deserves it. Control looks like garbage. All of my friends on PSN are playing Borderlands 3. I'm surprised that isn't being nominated for GOTY. Also, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order looks great from what I've seen of it, but it's not being nominated for anything

Death Stranding derangement syndrome gonna kick up again after finally dying down a bit.

I'd put in DMC5 over Control, personally, but I can understand that it's some people's GOTY, at least. RE2 is on there as well, and they probably didn't want one company taking up two out of six slots. No Shadowbringers for Best Score is the biggest snub no one will talk about. Jump Force in Best Fighting Game is laughable, the category would look more credible without it there at all.

This will be INTERESTING. Death Stranding could be the same case of RDR2 last year(sweeping genre categories but missing GoTY because it's divisive). RE2 is the clear frontrunner but voters could opt for a full new game instead of a remake. In that case the winner would be Control (which is showing a real strenght at the awards) or Sekiro. I want to see how this fight ends.

Jeff is gonna make sure death stranding gets every award. What a shame year. That game is garbage

Real talk, if he does that then any hint of credibility the event might still have is dead and he knows it. I'm not even talking about if it does or doesn't deserve it, it's going to be clearly perceived as fraudulent and the Pope Awards is going to move from meme to official joke.

Well, Control aside (and that's debatable) everything but DS is a rehash.

Given the opposition DS deserves to walk it in most of its categories just on principle. We're at the end of a generation so innovation ought to count heavily.

Wow, all these nominations have done for me is make me realize what a mediocre year we've had in gaming. Man we deserve better than this.

The Outer Worlds is so extremely overrated.

"Best Action Game" category is worse than "Comedy/Musical" from the Oscars, come on this used to be made by gamers, we're supposed to understand categories and genres and stuff, but that section is a mess.

Is Devil May Cry so bad?

It's not bad, it's just the complete opposite of game-of-the-year-bait, unlike Death Stranding, which is the model of it. It's also rather underwhelming as a Devil May Cry game, imo. In its own right though, it's perfectly adequate and the ideal jump-in point for newcomers to the series.

Death Stranding? GOTY? Really?

Don't be fooled by the fact that DS ticks all the 'narrative experience' boxes the industry loves to pat itself on the back for, the game is legit in a very old-fashioned, gameplay-first way. It's truly great.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
They really liked Control, huh?

Number of "User scores" on meta surely will go up on metacritic for Death Stranding because GOTY nomination. Particularly a negative ones, like 0 or 1. Already over 13k, 2k more than for GOW.

Deserved! So glad for these 3.
to bad most people who wil watch the game awards did not play death stranding due to the critics and the walking sim memes.
Yea sekiro was awesome, but god dam death stranding production value is also insane
the game is really long, insane cutscenes, it does a lot of awesome new things, the way they managed to make the map design a part of the game is amazing. Oh wel I think both sekiro and death stranding deserve it but death stranding does alot of extra stuf to deserve the price in my opinion. But the salt wil be insane lmao
