The Game Business - Nintendo Switch 2 sales stumble over Christmas

It's always about games + price. Mario, Zelda & Pokemon will come but I'm not sure what Nintendo will do with S2 price. Maybe a Lite model or a TV console for $80-100 less than standard S2 would open some doors. I think a TV console would work better this time since S2's main improvement over S1, the graphics, show up more on the big screen.
I think all of that should be pushed.

  • Consolized Switch 2
  • Switch 2 Lite. Leave TV output be, people should be able to buy a dock if they want.
  • An OLED S2 with better battery life.
Give folks variety and variety in pricing and more sales will follow.

It is called a discussion. There is context and several posts. "I don't get your point but I didn't read lol".

But I see that you finally agree so you eventually understood.
Sorry I was being kind because I more or less read the thread at one point or another and possibly you said something in some post I didn't catch that changed what I thought was the point.

Turns out what I said was your point was correct because you just said I understood and all I did in my last post was repeat myself. And my point is yours doesn't make any sense. :)

The supposed 3ds great launch plan didn't help the 3ds avoid needing an emergency price drop and having a terrible first 6 months.

Ergo it's no proof that a so called better launch plan would have helped S2 launch do even better. IT's really an indication, if we assume it was so much better in the first place, that it matters none at the end of the day.

If they manage to release a 249$ Switch 2 Lite, it would be a success, but I doubt they can go below 300.

He did not, he compared it against the sales of Switch 1 back in 2017.

I hope that angry Ninty fans don't make him stop publishing any more data.
Yes of course he was only giving us figures, the fact there was little in the way of context and nuance is overlooked. To be honest it's pretty much par for the course for Nintendo where the original Switch was selling pretty well..... but impending doom was always just around the corner lol...

There will be a lite and eventually a OLED revision...

Putting it here for convenience. Japan already got articles saying Switch surpassed the Nintendo DS in sales. By the way, the Nintendo Store will be selling Switch 2 consoles in a first-come, first-served on starting on February 6, only condition is 50 hours or more of playtime in Switch 1 by December 21, 2025. They still cannot deliver enough consoles.

stumbled! lol. turns out this was full of shit. its the same con over and over. take popular thing.. say something negative to get clicks. rinse and repeat.

Switch LTD was at 38M in Japan in the latest fiscal year report. DS LTD in Japan was ~33M. So that must've already happened 1-2 years ago.

Referring to worldwide shipments, the latest sales from September I believe were like 154.01m versus 154.02m or something like that. Maybe it's just a slow news day.

November overall console sales compared favorably to console sales from 1996 or so. That month was a fail for one and all.

December saw a 6% growth compared to last year, with sales of Switch 2 offsetting losses from other hardware manufacturers. December was a big W for Nintendo.

So basically a click bate article based on onw months worth of sales, and in the end the sales dropped ever so slightly lol...

No casuals are avoiding it due to key cards. Hell I don't even fully understand the key card situation or the outrage about it.
It's expensive and the software that's supposed to be compelling really isn't that compelling yet.

The key card situation is severely overblown, and Final Fantasy VII proves it. That thing is flying off the shelf, and the fact they can provide it at $40 makes key cards viable going forward. Can't wait for Call of Duty!

by nintendo itself they are
That's how good supply chain works… And is the same for everybody, they report sold to retailers. Basically is a final sell because they don't receive units back. That argument is not used by anyone already.

This argument is always used very selectively.

The game key card people is the most vocal minority ever lol. Half of them don't even understand them. Just out here babbling about nothing.

If it's about ownership and longevity, at this point you gotta do gog and roms and put it all in multiple locations. If you're not doing that, then you're not really that serious about it.

I think if Nintendo decides to offer the multiple game cart sizes, then we may get a few more physical releases. But as I will mainly buy Nintendo's own first party games, then it's not a massive issue.

Sony fanboys like you are the worst, not many Nintendo fans feel the need to shit post on Sony sales threads. There is simply no need lol.
I'm not shitting anything the article is factually correct in europe and usa holiday sales were slow these are the facts, why are people upset?
