On Topic: I don't like MMA, but watching the Green Ranger fuck people up is a good enough reason to start.

Off Topic: Disney needs to release the series on DVD in complete seasons.

random fact, he also played Rondell in The Shield. I didn't actually realize this until today, even though I knew he looked familiar when I watched that show.

From what I understand... weren't all of the "Power Ranger" scenes already shot from Japan years before they brought the show over to the US? And then they just recast the characters and reshot all of the school stuff with the American actors but to save money they reused all of the Power Rangers footage/Zord footage?

It explains all of the extreme overacting/snap zooms/crazy shit/film grain in those scenes. And if I recall correctly, the Yellow Ranger was actually a man in the Japanese version.

Anyways, Tommy looks a lot different. He was my hero when I was a kid (Green Ranger is the greatest thing ever), and I hope he does well in MMA.
 
Best part about the Green Ranger was the shied and the badass flute, so it only makes sense that the best Red Ranger moment was when Jason jacked Tommy's swag.

btw was i the only one that used to root against the power rangers? i remember getting pissed every time the power rangers would pull some new zord out of their asses and defeat the new powerful monster. why the hell would they not use those powerful zords all along you jackasses?

IIRC most ranger action scenes are from the Japanese Sentai Rangers (including Rita sequences and such). The Green Power Ranger probably only wore the suit during the Power Ranger movie, or for the transformation scenes.

this was something that shattered my reality when i discovered the internet. every single Power Ranger series is just a bunch of American kids doing scenes spliced into footage from the Japanese counterpart.

I remember finding that out when I first started using the internet. It may be because I was pretty young back then, but reading about sentai was weird, intriguing, and a little creepy. I remember the website having a black background and writing about it like it was some huge conspiracy that PR actually came from Sentai.

while that's true the Power Rangers people had the Sentai makers film a bunch of new footage for the Americans to use, as well as filming all their own footage later on as well.

it was also different enough that Power Rangers was re-dubbed for Japan :lol

Totally lame.

Tommy had almost redeemed himself in my eyes in Dino Thunder: for a while, it looked like he was taking a backseat (for the first time evar) and being the show's Zordon, letting the new generation of Rangers shine.

But when the time came to introduce the N+1th Ranger (y'know, the one who's always more powerful than the original cast), guess who seizes the opportunity? Tommy fucking Oliver.

Seriously man, you not only had to steal the show from Jason, then drag him on as the Gold Zeo Ranger so he can play second fiddle some more, but now you kick three aspiring newbies to the curb? Douche. Bag.
 
I still remember how excited I was for the Power Rangers movie... and how insane I was over it. Their suits gained plastic armor... I loved it.

Didn't they move the series to New Zealand at some point? So to shatter the illusion further most of those Americans were probably New Zealanders :lol
 
this is very old news. I remember when he tried to fight a few years back but it never occurred for whatever reasoning. He's only 35, so if he has any fight left in him, he better use it up asap.
