What the hell is PowerWii?

When I hear that name, I immediately have two thoughts:
1. Now you're playing with POWER!
2. POW-POW-POWER WHEELS!

It's an interesting trademark, but I guess we won't hear anything about it until e3, unless it's the title of a game, like in the case of "The Last Story".

If this was the late 90's, I'd say Power Wii sounds like some kind of in store kiosk for people who don't have internet to be able to download Wiiware games to flash cards or something.

The Power Wii sounds like hardware. It doesn't fit a normal naming convention either "Wii [name]" for software and peripherals. I dare say it sounds like a console especially since it is preceded by "Nintendo." I really wish I had a better grasp for how these sorts of things sound to the Japanese ear, but I doubt whatever it is will retain the same name for worldwide release.

Maybe just "Wii∞" or "∞Wii"

Could also be a placeholder of sorts to cover their bases, but it's interesting for sure.

S-E does the PS2 games which are in-canon gaidens for the TV series (both the original TV series and the new one). It seems Bamco has the rights to anything else - the GBA titles which used manga designs, the PS2 party fighter, the previous PSP action adventure game, and now this PSP RPG which follows the Brotherhood storyline. What makes the S-E ones stand out is that they generally have about 30 mins of brand new animation throughout the game, done by Bones.

It sounds like a new hardware, not a game. After all, Infinite and Power are listed before the Wii title, not afterwards, like in the Wii line of games. The presence of "Nintendo" there also is pretty weird. It's Wiifit, not "Nintendo Wiifit". Although, even so, it's not necessarily a new console...

However, if it's actually a new console, that probably isn't the final name. There are multiple listings for what probably is the same object. Even "Infinite Wii" doesn't sound good enough, it's too long.

Wii sounds like a terrible choice if you assume that Nintendo's target audience was the 12 - 35yo male demographic. If you don't, Wii is a brilliant name (admittedly, I, as a 12 - 35 year old male, didn't warm to it at first). Where women and adults wouldn't be caught dead using something ultra-masculine and powerful-sounding like the Xbox or the specifically toy-sounding Playstation, Wii is whimsical, non-descriptive, unique and non-demographically specific.

Other names of this type are Google, iPod and Bing.

Power Wii tends toward the Xbox side of things. Xbox sounds powerful, like it has more grunt under the hood than you'd care to know about. Xbox appeals to guys. Same with the word "Power".

It's a terrible name for a console (it has no focus - who is meant to buy this product?), albeit an acceptable one for a peripheral (peripheral names do need to be descriptive, even if the main brand isn't).

Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like a causal game. Or maybe a sim-like game. Or a samurai-period style of game. At any rate it doesn't sound like what one would expect a 'A' class game will be named. It's equivalent to 'WW2 Tales', or '1800s Legends', or 'Medieval Stories' - you get the idea. So I won't read too much into it, as of now.

Kinda early to be filing a trademark if it's a sequel to that. They would have only started development this year, and in general it takes 2 years for even a DS RPG to be completed. It's probably something else. Maybe it's another iPhone game.

Probably just merchandise. Trademarks are registered in different classes depending on the type of product the mark is used with, so previously they may have only registered God Eater under the video games class whereas now they might want to make T-shirts, books etc. so are registering the mark under those extra classes.
