Basically, Jordan and Jesse recognized the misunderstanding and regretted it and 1 of the Penny Arcade people offered a half-apology and related that they were tired and grumpy. Penny Arcade people thought they were there for an interview and ended up with hipsters, while Jordan and Jesse thought they were there to laugh and ended up with dour nerds. So, why post it? (My opinions follow, not Jesse's.)

1. It actually ends up being as funny as trainwrecks can be.
2. I thought it'd be better to contextualize it before someone else did.
3. It's a good reminder that certain gamers don't know how to act in public. Presumably, most of us would ask if we were being pranked, at which point the misunderstanding could be resolved. So, don't be socially awkward. Okay, all? Lesson learned.
4. Because the Penny Arcade people couldn't get Rian Johnson, Maria Bamford, or Andrew W.K. to THEIR convention. And they're Internet-famous!
5. It's a perfect excuse to get people to listen to Jesse's shows at least once. So, please do. Podcast GAF would love it, I think.

I have listened to a couple The Sound of Young Americas and they've been interesting, but listening to this podcast is... let me say I understand and agree with Penny Arcade, this is painful. And it hasn't even gotten heated yet

Also I'm trying to understand what this "New Sincerity" thing is, and I don't even:

Going on a random podcast with a group of people you don't know to promote your book doesn't strike me as the best way to advertise anyway.

Jordan, Jesse, Go is the best podcast I listen to by far and every episode lights my week as no other show does. Reading all the context around this legendary episode added a bit of a morbid wish to listen to it immediately... just like watching a car crash. :D

And the PA post and comic are ruthlessly funny but maybe a little bit misdirected, they should have directed their hostility to their own agent... But now I will go listen to this.

EDIT: Okay, the unbridled aggression from the PA guys actually made me laugh. At least some of this is listenable.

A few of you guys seem to be implying that the PA guys just didn't "get" the format of the podcast, but I'm struggling to understand what's not to "get". These guys are totally unfunny, stringing along unfunny jokes into even longer unfunny jokes, dropping non sequiturs at an annoying rate, seemingly putting effort into talking about genuinely stupid crap, I just don't understand how anyone could possibly enjoy this

I was an avid listener of JJGO a few years back. It was a more enjoyable exchange between Jordan and Jesse, but it soon became the Jesse controls all show and any bit of humor Jordan squeezed in an episode was vastly overshadowed by the ungodly annoying and self obsessed Jesse. I at least have JJGO to thank for introducing me to my favorite comedy podcast, Stop Podcasting Yourself.

Oh I see, you're trying to imply that this show is improve hilarity! Yeah, not feeling that. It seems to be a random mix of cultural detritus and uninteresting topics. But yeah...that "Waterworld" improv...hilarious! :\

I see that, but the people on this podcast are failing to be funny right out of the gate by trying to talk about license plate frames and Waterworld and omelets

It's like they're trying to be funny by mentioning things they've heard OTHER people say funny things about, but these guys just come across as doofuses

Obviously this conversation isn't productive at all and I need to remind myself that taste is subjective so I'll just go ahead and bow out, enjoy your podcast

I'm torn. On one hand, I think Ghaleon's spot-on about this whole stupid situation. On the other, up to now I haven't seen one of Ghaleon's posts that I haven't rolled my eyes at.

The more I listen to this, the more I think about how much I liked the EA Podcast episode with the Penny Arcade guys.

Plus it has Jeff Green. He was on a podcast called GFW Radio that should appeal to fans of JJGO that like dumber/slower/less funny humor, according to Ghaleon.

Mmm, I think I typed that they were both throwing out multiple inroads for the Penny Arcade guys. They sat there because they thought they were going to be interviewed. And since there's nothing more cringeworthy than bad improv, the situation gets increasingly desperate until the Penny Arcade guys start saying the names of Dune characters.

Fresh Air should totally book the PA guys. I'm sure Teri Gross could really get a great interview out of them. In related public radio news, PAX East got a mention on the Kojo Nnamdi show today (clip starts at 10:30).

"Smart" seemed to rub you the wrong way. Obviously, "smart humor" can be awful (bad Dennis Miller or British sketch shows gone awry being the obvious examples). It's value-neutral when it comes to comedy. I think this podcast is both funny and smart. That's all I meant. Got it?

Yep just different opinions. Comedy is especially subjective.

EDIT: This podcast kinda reminds me of the Ken P.D. Snydecast. It's another one that is kinda focused on little pop culture things and a bit of randomness. Plus one of the people on it is Dana Snyder, the voice of Master Shake on Aqua Teen Hunger Force. You might want to check it out http://www.asitecalledfred.com/category/ken-pd-snydecast/

This just reminds me if why I hate most improv comedy. The people who do it think they are hilarious and tend to be oblivious to anything else.
