Think about it... a trophy... what's more? in a videogame. Think about it. :lol :lol

.

Yep! I know. But after going through all the trouble of getting every single other trophy, I hate not having that 100%. I'm a completionist (for the most part). Having a trophy based on other users actually taking the time to be generous actually has many faults. If it's a trophy based on my own gameplay, I totally understand it being hard to get. I've had plenty play my levels, but very few comments and very few hearts. It's frustrating to say the least. I know it sounds goofy but that in turn leaves me not very thrilled to finish my level since it'll be overlooked by most of the masses as well, especially this late in the game. I'm still in the process of working out some techniques for my Indy level because I want it to be fun and inventive. Being a perfectionist sucks too btw ;).

I'm just hoping there are enough random people who read this thread who can take a few minutes to help me out, that's all.
Yes I know I'm desperate heh

I really hate to lower myself to these levels, but after several months of non-luck I'm desperate. Heh. Can someone please heart & play my levels and heart me? My username on GAF is the same as on PSN. They aren't really levels since I'm still working on the Indy level currently. Basically you just enter the level and land directly on the goal. They do help for reaching the Share trophy for other users though so you can get at least a little dent in the 200 levels you need to play. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs some hearts or something like that, shoot me a PM. I'll gladly help anyone.

Hopefully this post won't piss off too many people. :p

Never said that jump ;)

I still play the user levels from time to time when I read about a good level that someone has created. I've done everything in the game myself already. I was just asking for help from other users to get the last of my trophies since you do have to rely on others to finish that trophy for you. That's all.

Personally, I'm waiting on the water to come out of beta (or maybe me getting in the beta) before I go back to finishing up a few levels I started to make.

Hey, jump_button, I just went through all of your levels (except B&W Planet, couldn't finish it since I got stuck), and I liked them, but -- could you put some infinite-life checkpoints in there? At least just in B&W, that one's a toughy.

I have not played in nearly half a year, when I finish up with Batman it might be time to jump back in. I expect I have hundreds of levels to play.

Don't worry, I COMPLETELY understand what you mean here, xinoart. I've made a couple of levels I think are deserving of more hearts (and more playthroughs!!!) but because the main pages get full of garbage "30 second trophies!" levels, mine never sees the light of day.

It's really frustrating if you ask me. Unless you create one of the BEST LEVELS, you really don't have a shot at getting hearted, etc. And you have to be really lucky with timing so that it is seen on the main page as well. It's just a shame is all. I'm still working toward the Create trophy after creating a few decent levels. (and a few crappy ones, but I don't care about getting trophies for those, they were just experimental sandboxes really)

The trophy design of LBP is really really bad and they didn't put more than 2 seconds on thoughts before doing it.

It totally caused the HRH behavior and what the hell with trophies based on player's recognition through CREATIVITY? This is wrong.
They should only have been "play x numbers of use level" types of trophy for the community part and not "earn x number of hearts".

I'm still amazed at LBP design flaws even after 11 months.

Ahhh I finally made a level. It's based on the old-school Resident Evil style (shitty camera angles, high difficulty, lots of secrets.) I spent a lot of time on it, so try it out and see if y'all like it! My PSN is Seer btw. Thanksssss

How is HRH Heart FOR a Heart?

Anyway yea, I really don't like it. These H4H levels really piss me off, since they flood to the front pages, and take the place of levels that took time and effort to create, like to of mine...

Hope people will give them a shot and heart them, since I actually WORKED on them rather than copping out and making a BS trophy level...

Hey guys, I recently finished my new level and I'm eager for some feedback. :D

It's called Frown Town, and it's located in Australia. My PSN ID is theWinnie.
For some reason I couldn't search it up on LBP, so instead look for my other level, Welcome to Utopia (also in Australia) and then find Frown Town in my profile.

I tried to do a kind of tongue-in-cheek, funny level purely because everything else I've made is rather dark and depressing. :lol

And pics!
They don't show too much since I want to keep the "story" somewhat of a surprise.

Hope you enjoy it! All feedback, criticism, whatever is much appreciated. :)

Sooo, I published a level I designed this weekend. X-Men : Savage land, it's supposed to be the first of a story arc of levels loosely based around the X-Men universe. I'm such a dork, I actually drew up the blueprints for all the levels (sans this one), including how bosses would work, where the story would go, etc. But, I would like to get some feedback/reactions before I even bother making the rest. So far it's been very disheartening because literally seconds after posting it I got a 1 star rating attached with "frustrating".

Below is a very lame trailer I slapped together quickly in Movie Maker.
I was going for campy, but I still feel embarrassed every time I watch it. :lol

Me and two friends just beat this level, and currently, it says we're the only ones on the leaderboard.. I'm guessing that's because of the new update or something.. but man did I feel accomplished after finishing this level! Incredible.

A Bark In The Dark

Sackboy was taking his dog for a walk but looks like he should have a bought a dog chain because all of a sudden the dog ran away. This is how his new adventure started. Sackboy followed the dog's tracks and ended up in a cave... A very special cave.

This level is intended and strongly recommended to be played in single player mode. It's also harder than what the general LBPer expects. It's nothing extreme for those difficulty specialists out there either mind you. I'd say the level is hard because that's what I expect most people to think of it. Or should we say it's for "experienced LBPers"?

Points of interests:

- A truly multi-path level.
- A sidekick for sackboy!
- Multiple secrets to find.

Hints:

While your sidekick will talk to you along the way and suggesting you to do stuff, if you're stuck you probably want to grab some brownish green fabric around to proceed. Also, this is not a level where you rush in. It's definetely that level made for exploration and taking your time. Anyhow, you'll notice soon enough that rushing through the level here doesn't work. lol

Here is my first adventure level for the PSP LBP. As usually its got a simple story and leans toward the harder difficulty. If you check out the fire escapes you can see how things can drift in the PSP editor. They were objects so I could not fit them back together.

enjoy.

SPACE SACK'S ADVENTURES: THE BLUE PLANET

Space Sack is our famous astronaut exploring the universe. Wait, you didn't know him? Well, now you do. Space Sack is really good at his job but he's really unlucky. Today Space Sack is attempting to land on "Blue Planet", a name his tremendously imaginative mind gave to it after noticing the blue color of that globe.

Points of interest:

-Mild difficulty. Accessible for most people.
-Progressive gameplay. Gain new abilities along the way.
-I tried to surpass myself with visuals.
-Alot of secrets to find.
-Water.
-Custom backgrounds.

Screenshots:

As I said up there, I tried to surpass myself visually with this level. No screenshot can really do justice to the level so I hope you'll go play it. No screenshot can do justice because there's alot of stuff moving everywhere you go. This gives a more animated feeling to the level and it's an integral part of the visual style I wanted to create.

Another thing I am trying here is to give a sense of progression through gameplay. The level is almost multi-path and the more you proceed, the more abilities you gain. Turn on your prize collection options, have fun, and don't shy up on feedback!

:)

Really amazing levels from tsr13.

"The Right Stuffing"
"The Interwebs"
"Apollo 13.5: Sacks in Space"

I was pretty disappointed in the levels I was seeing for the PSP version until I played these...really great stuff!

Hey Ranger X, I played your Sack on the Beach level. Don't really know how old it is so forgive me if I'm criticizing too much or saying things you already heared. :D

First of all: I like it. It has a consistent style and a polished feel. Liked the beach folks and their houses and love the day/night cycle (and how the people actually move at night).

The idea of having an 'adventure' type of level is a good one, but needs some work. Getting the wakeboard is nothing that really gives a sense of achievement or poses a challenge. I already got it before I even talked to the guy, accidently.

Maybe you should try to branch the open structure out a bit more. Now you only have left and right and don't really play with the verticality. Why not a huge ladder into the sky or a zeppelin? And an underground tunnel? Make the town your hub and make your side missions in four directions: up, down, left, right.

Also the stickering felt a bit tacked-on and boring. The idea of 'side missions' is a fun one, but do more with it. For example, make side missions that make the boss fight a bit easier as a reward. Or have some nice visual effect be the reward. Or win some hot islander... Just try to be a bit more creative and original than only giving some bubbles.

The platforming stuff felt really polished and well worked-out, although a bit by the books. The level clearly feels very polished and does not have a single frustrating or half-working part, but also feels quite unoriginal in the gameplay department.

Then the boss. He's nice! I like it that he has a clear attack pattern and his difficulty is very well balanced. The only thing is that you don't really have an indication of his health...

And one obvious 'bug' that you should really fix: after you beat the boss and you accidently fall down to that area again, you're stuck. You can't get up again. Make the save point move upwards or let the grab-thing respawn. It's quite easy to fall down as well.

I did actually really like the level, it feels incredibly polish and has a nice atmosphere. It feels very consistent as well and does not have one low point. I just think that you should be a bit 'crazier' in the gameplay and style. But kudos to you! Guys like you keep LBP alive and I like that a lot. Still have quite some of your levels to play and looking forward to that!

Hey, thanks alot for the feedback buddy! I think you are raising good points. The level indeed is very horizontal because I wasn't much inspired for something in the sky. I didn't want the thing to get too fantastic. As for the missions, I found it a bit hard to have diverse mission goals because let's face it, there isn't much things to do in a platformer. You can collect, fetch, stick stickers and shoot/kill stuff.

Anyhow, about the boss... the sack you grab to get out of there is supposed to be directional and therefore falling back in there. Since now the checkpoints can be activated by a switch, I could probably fix this part a bit more effectively ('cause I know it's easy to break it). I will hovewer create newer levels instead since this one came out last summer :)

Planet Neo Adventure - Stage 3: Jade Flora Jungle

Following the trail left by Captain Selachi's band of pirates you've arrived at Jade flora jungle. Explore the pirate's secret jungle base in order to find out their true plans. Stage 3 in the Planet Neo adventure series.

ngq1qp.jpg

Stage 3: Jade Flora Jungle trailer

This is the third stage in my Planet Neo adventure series of platforming stages (trying to capture the feel of old school 8-bit/16-bit platformers), the other two consisting of GAF Greens plain (which was made in beta...and one of my first efforts) and Aquatico Sands beach.

Tried to include a little variety since a few of the comments from Aquatico Sands stated that it was too linear. I hope that the boss battle isnt too hard to figure out, and dont forget that checkpoint near the boss lair.

Could always use advice/complaints/complements/etc. So search for TeknomanEX or Jade Flora Jungle.

EDIT: Are we going back to using the User levels thread for cataloging gaf made levels?

Hey Teknoman, just played your level.

It's a good effort but in my opinion, although it has quite some faults. First of all, the checkpoint placing can be really irritating at times. For example, before the big enemy section there isn't a checkpoint. It's not that difficult, but with a dumb error you get respawned waaaay back. Also on another occasion you get respawned in the water when you've reached the catacombs already.

The boss isn't too hard to figure out, but he's boring to be honest. I just jumped some times on his head and he was dead. Didn't threaten me at all with his attacks either... And the platforms are there for no logical reason except to jump on his head. Create some context or something.

Also, the basic enemies looked a bit odd because they occupied all 3 layers, so they didn't look like believable enemies at all. Just put some foliage in 2 layers and the the enemy on the 3rd one, looks way nicer.

And why does EVERY level include hanging and then advancing above some spikes? Don't see any fun in that gameplay mechanic at all, to be honest. :p

You're doing a good job but just need to polish and balance everything a bit more. Also try to work out a consistent style and use it a bit more in the level.

One other thing: make visual hints for important objects. I could hardly see the platforms in the catacombs because the had the exact same stone texture as the background.

Almost sounds like a rant. :D That's not the intention, I just like to criticize constructively. ;)

No I understand what you're saying. Still trying to figure out how to get a big boss with a actual pattern of attacks. Ranger X already recommended the enemy layer reduction, so i'll get on that as soon as possible.

The hanging and swinging over spikes, I just drew that from most older games that make you swing over hazards, but I have seen that in a few other stages (that old God of war stage from beta for instance). Thanks for pointing out the issue in the cave section though, was wondering if that part was too. I'll go back and add a few checkpoints at key places as well.

EDIT: Not sure if im going to change the materials in the cave section too much, because those are two different material types: One is Bevel Aztec Jade and the other just normal Aztec Jade.

EDIT 2: Alright fixed the the unecessary layers on the enemies (went back and did that for all enemies in my collection, dunno what I was thinking there), added an extra camera zone in the cave for trap visiblity and a few extra enemies/ background objects here and there. Havent republished yet though. Now i've got to figure out a way to make the Calamarine boss harder, or at least with attacks that actually hit.

I'd love a Costume pack.
For a level, I'd recommend "The Gauntlet". It's sort of an obstacle course, but it rotates so you have to grab on to objects to avoid falling into fire/spikes while it turns upside down. It's one of my go-to levels when playing with friends, good, manic fun.
I'd post the author's name, but unfortunately I'm stuck at work right now. I'll add it in when I'm out.

I reccomend a level called Spiderman Returns. It has some spidey themed setups more like set pieces, each with its own puzzle to solve. Neat and often overlooked. The initial Spiderman level from the maker is not as good, I think he used it as a testing ground for his ideas more than anything. Ill post the maker's name for easy search later when I get home.

I recommend Robot Town 2 by jump_button. It's awesome and one of my favourite levels made by GAFfers.
I have the PAL version of LBP, so don't worry about the code if it's for the US version.
I wanted to suggest the level anyway.

I'm fucking magic.

If you work at a retailer that sells Sony stuff you can go on their "Retail Loyalty" site and you take quizzes to earn points to buy games and stuff. That had a promo if you take 2 LBP quizzes you get PotC code. Then if you emailed that code to them they said they would give you more for friends in family. I was expecting like 5 but got 25 instead.

Considering the scope of the game, the huge innovations it contains, the size of the team and that fact that it was their first game, let alone PS3 game...?

Considering all of that... LBP is a monumental achievement.

The only thing that is amazing about LBP's flaws is how small they are.

I agree with this. It's my favorite game of the current gen too. But still, it's incredible how flawed this game can be but I still love it and play it. I've never played a game this flawed and bugged that much for more than a day or 2.
