i sincerely doubt they would blow their wad on the footage already shown in the E3 trailer, i'm sure that's one of several monumental set piece moments.
They built an entire city for that set-piece, an entire city that you just drive through, no exploration, just driving, did you see how massive was that area? how detailed it was?

It looks like something that took LOTS of work, I think ND said that they are working on this part for months now, hard to believe they could have many things on such scale.

it is

but its also hard to believe they would show their hand in its entirety in a gameplay footage demo a year away from release

i would be literally shocked if there wasnt at least one more moment on that scale, in the game

True, but they are a much larger team now. They've already said this is their biggest and longest Uncharted to date, so I'm sure whatever there is, will be fairly comprehensive. If there isn't a good variety of areas and locations, I'll definitely be disappointed though. Uncharted is all about that globe trotting, across the world feeling.

Yo. YO. That new footage. I'm now pretty convinced this is the best looking game I've seen so far. Wow. And all the gameplay improvements look/sound so awesome.

No way would they show like the major set piece at an E3 conference so far away from release

Actually makes me realize how little we've actually seen. Uncharted 3, we saw most of the set pieces in the trailers

Many games ?
I can think about 5 games at most that has animation that as good .

Anyway the game is look really good can't wait to get my hands on it .
andherewgo.gif :p

Seriously tho, I wouldn't say 'many' games do this. Not at all.
It absolutely depends on what you're looking for in animation. This trailer makes me curious about how many areas will have driving sections.

That's very possible, of course. Not only will the resolution be higher in the SP, but we don't know if they had to dial back AA and AF as well for the MP, so the latter two could be improved in the SP as well.
Mp is also 60fps. Single player is 30fps. It will be way better than MP graphics.

It's not. You really think they'd release that with the UC4 bundle just being made available and also VR headset launching in October for PS4. If... IF a PS4k does exist, it won't be for a good year or two, and then you might as well wait for PS5

I mean, I dunno what you expect from the melee? The series has always been really simplified melee combat. It's never been complex and they have been always talking about wanting the melee to feel satisfying and simple. I feel like whenever they are talking about how much better it is they're really just referring to the animations and impact, less so that it's actually deep. I didn't get the impression that melee was any deeper than it has been from what that guy was saying.
He wants DMC and Bayonetta combos.

The thing you dont understand is I think QB looks great to play. I admit it looks blurry etc I think uncharted looks good technically but I can see shimmering and other artifacts that when I read the absolute incredible level of praise I load the videos and think yeh it looks good. THe gifs I see look incredible I just think that from the praise there is a bar you expect to see and then when you notice issues it causes a little bit of a disconnect. I would love to see Nuaghty dog games on PC. I have that chance with QB in a couple of weeks.

I also was not massively impressed by a video called gameplay and it spent the first 2 minutes talking about how amazing the ps4 is, and then I didn't really feel like I learnt much about the gameplay.

Atleast form these marketing videos they are making out that the rope is not a gimic and will be used a lot, climbing will not be linear. Levels will be huge and open and have multiple pathes in all areas to get to the end of the level. This is what I am excited about and I want them to elaborate on, but they don't really talk about it that much.
And we know this is your real issue. ;)

I mean, they are not UbiSoft, amirite? ;P

The melee looks so TLOU, which is awesome. So satisfying and impactfull.

PS: Why is there no gif of the bit in which Drake is running on the wall using the rope though?

True but they had over 350 people working on UC4 .
Which is more than 2 times the amount of people they had working on the old ones.

Looks amazing, one major thing that stood out was that music though! Oh man, I can't wait, this game is going to be something special.

Not this time around, at least. Hey totally did that with Uncharted 3 though. The only significant set pieces they didn't straight up demo were the smaller boats and the horseback caravan, and they still showed snippets of those in trailers.

The Last of Us will always be my favorite game of the previous generation, though. ;)

Nothing can ever take that away from it.
Drake > Joel forever

I will miss the guy a lot after UC4 :(

I am looking for fantastic animation and I think it animates better than most games appearing today. I am not quite sure there are a lot of games out there that have animations this good. Def more rare than common imo

Oh please get out of here with that. I love the rope swing animation, that's impressive as shit, but that contextual animation where an enemy pushes Drake against a wall, that is less impressive to me when it blends with him hitting the guy. Jonathan Cooper worked extensively on this project btw.

I definitely wouldn't say it's rare at all amongst triple A games these days. Ofc it depends on the game and what the studio is trying to do, FFXV for instance.

You have to say it looks perfect I guess. Any flaws you see in the animation shown here or is that mainly on the facial animation side?
See the above about the blend between *struggling while against wall* and *hit the guy in the head.*

The only game I think of off the top of my head with more "impressive" animation is Rainworld and that is mostly because none of it is canned and its all done on the fly and is AI driven.

Yeah, that is the only one I can think of that is really pushing animation at a similar level of detail across the board.

A technical masterpiece. Best anim sys I've ever seen. ND simply do things no one else dares to. As a cohesive technical package it's simply a true next gen step up. The only people I can see getting close to this is as a package, are ND. Special mention to Henry's music. So pleased Greg's theme remains. Coupled with Henry's electic scoring I believe we are in for an audio tour de force.

Bravo ND...bravo.

I mean, there are so many animations in play that it's only natural to have a couple of weird ones, but when you look at their track record and observe every single UC4 footage they've released so far, you can see amazing animations across the board. Every single animation seems to be worked on with detail and care, and they're incredibly consistent and life-like.

They excel like few others do in that department.
