I jumped on that Pro deal at Best Buy but without even opening it I think I'm gonna return it. It's just too big and quite frankly overkill for just comics, books, browsing, and occasionally Video. I can save about $330 just grabbing an Air2 and doubling the storage size.

Need to replace this Ipad3. I can barely have 1 GAF tab open without it crashing.
I picked up an Air 2 today to replace my iPad 3 and I love it. Saved me ~£200 on the 7.9" Pro (and more if I'd bought the Pencil too), and it's a huge upgrade from the 3rd gen. The saving can go towards an earlier upgrade if needed, but I can't see there being all that much between the Air 2 and the mini Pro in all but the most demanding of games.

Sold my large pro today so now to put in a pre-order for the 9.7 pro.
I just couldn't get used to the size when using portrait mode.

You were making it out like people who owned the Air 2 are concerned about the minimal spec jump when it's only like just over a year old.
No I wasn't. Not sure where you got that from in my post. I said more RAM would have future proofed the Pro more, and since it's now the same amount, the Air 2 made more financial sense to me.

I got it from the fact that you kept mentioning the Air 2 and comparing it to the 9.7" Pro in reference to longevity. The Pro line has extra features that the Air line doesn't have, the 9.7" Pro is more of a budget Pro than the next Air. People who just use the Air 2 aren't going to be much interested in the 9.7" Pro unless they want Pencil support.

Yup that's the exact same conclusion I came to!

Good shit. I went and got myself a pro 128gb today. Staples had it at 799. Add in some gift cards and I ended up paying $300 out of pocket. bye iPad 3. You won't be missed.

So from everyone's previous experience in preordering a iPhone, which is easier to use? The Apple store app or the online store? I've never preordered a iPhone before

I think you're right.

For some reason I remember Phil Schiller talking about the taller screen saying we have more room to code or something.
That's weird, but check EveryMac or Wikipedia if you need to. I'm pretty sure the only aspects they've done since 2006 when they switched to Intel is 16:10 and on some machines 16:9. The last machines that were 4:3 were the 12/14" iBooks and 12" Powerbook. Even the iMac has been widescreen since they retired the 15" iMac G4. (The two models that came out with higher resolutions were a 17" and 20" widescreen aspect.)

Apple Store is offline. Update imminent.
2nd gen MacBook here we go!

(oh, or just SE...)

Twitter was not as abuzz as it usually is with Apple online store pre-order jitters and success stories. I didn't get anything for myself this round but I totally did order an iPad Pro 9.7" and iPhone SE for work.

I just posted about the iPhone I ordered :D

Ordered space grey 32gb pro 9.7. Not happy with the pricing but by sticking with the 32 it's kind of acceptable (normally buy a 64gb iPad so pricing is similar). I'll cram it full as soon as possible to see if I really need more space (for £120 more wtf), so I can swap during the return period

I noticed that smart covers are available for shipping in 1-3 days. Do you think retail stores will have them and the Smart Keyboard before 31st? I don't think I want the keyboard as it'll be too small to type on - but I do type a lot so it might be convenient. Want to try it out first before buying either that or a Smart Cover (or holding off to see what Logitech come up with)

Edit: Meh. Changed my mind and canceled my preorder for the 9.7 iPad pro. My air is still going strong enough for at least another year

Well, I decided to finally get an Apple Watch. So far I'm liking it. I'm still trying to learn a few things, but since I got it on sale at Beat Buy it should be a good trial run.

I understand this is a technology focused message board, but I think people are overreacting about the 2 GB of RAM in the 9.7" Pro. I have a Surface Pro 4 that has 4 GB of RAM and it's fine running the Adobe Creative Suite and Windows.

I can't imagine 2 GB on iOS and running apps would be a problem. I'll put my foot in my mouth if reviews say otherwise though.

2GB is/was fine over a year ago. The problem is that the iPad Pro 9.7" will be outdated far faster than the 12.9" Pro thanks to it having half the ram.

Either way In just ordered an iPad Pro 12.9" since I want it to last at least as long as my iPad Air (2.5 years now) has done. The iPad Pro 9.7" won't cut it

Have any Watch owners picked up one of the new woven bands? Seems like it'd be a nice step up from the sport band, which makes feel like I'm constantly ready to hit the gym.

I sold my large Pro and preordered a 128 9.7 Pro but I'll agree the smaller RAM pisses me off.
What I don't understand is the extra 2GB would have cost Apple peanuts so why not do it?
If you release two Pro products then why not release them at the same time with total synergy between the two in features.
Same colours, cameras and specs apart from maybe screen resolution obviously. They've managed to piss off the large and small iPad Pro customers in one swoop.
There are times that I agree with the haters and that sometimes Apple deserves to fail.

Apple wants you to buy a new iPad more often, they're frustrated at all those iPad 2s still in use. The difference between a 2GB and a 4GB device will be at least two extra years of optimal usability and that's bad for Apple. It's a cynical move.
