The National teases new album

Didn't like Trouble Will Find Me as much as High Violet, but it grew on me after a while. Here's hoping the new one doesn't disappoint.

Trouble Will Find Me is my favorite of their work thus far, so I'm definitely excited for this.

I need to see this band live before something happens. Them and Built to Spill.

Only album I never got into was Sad Songs, the rest is essential.

I'm always excited for National... unless they're going for a more electronic or mathy sound as hinted at in the clip. That seems like a terrible idea.

Also since the thread will come to this eventually anyways...

1. Boxer
2. Aligator
3. Trouble Will Find Me
-- Cherry Tree
4. High Violet
5. Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers
6. The National

Pretty fucking excited! Love the National. I saw them post in Instagram the teaser and jumped of happiness. Now all I need to have for a complete musical 2017 is a new St. Vincent album. Any day.

Cool, that reminds me Muse is also teasing a new single* I think. Haven't seen a thread for that though

Bon Iver debuted their new album at Eaux Claires 2016. Time for The National to debut theirs at Eaux Claires 2017?

(For those unaware, the curators of the Eaux Claires Music Festival are Justin Vernon of Bon Iver & Aaron Dessner of The National)

Sounds like a departure

They're one of the few things musically this city has ever done right, so these dudes are my heroes

I wonder how many women's names they can fit into the songs on this album

looking forward to the album though lol

Please do not let me serve on a jury. I am actually a crazy person.
Start a War \ Fake Empire were really good.
I got hooked into them after some House episode used their stuff.

Dessner is also a curator for Boston Calling and I was hoping they'd show up there this year, but no luck unfortunately.

Haha, I think Trouble Will Find Me is their best, personally.

My list:

1 - Trouble Will Find Me
2 - The National
3 - Alligator
4 - Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers
5 - High Violet
6 - Boxer

I'm excited about the new album, but the clip, like some others have noted, has me slightly worried.

Heck yes. One of my absolute favorite bands.

They hold a really important place in my life - last time I saw them was in 2013 on the night my wife and I found out we were expecting our first kid. Surreal experience seeing my favorite band and realizing that my life was about to change forever.

Word where did you see them? I saw them a couple nights that year when they toured for Trouble Will Find Me.

Indy. I think that was my 3rd or 4th time? I saw them once as a headliner and then another time when they opened for Arcade Fire in Chicago.

Nice, I was there too, that was a killer show. Also saw them at Bunbury Festival down here a few days before that I believe.

I also saw them with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra a couple years ago at our Music Hall, that was fucking cool as hell

I saw them play Leeds festival in '05, they clashed with QOTSA so there were only a few dozen people in the crowd.

Caught them again twice touring Boxer, think I'm due another gig.

I think I'm more the outlier here with my love of High Violet...

no, that is near the top for me too.

Terrible love, afraid of everyone, sorrow, conversation 16 are all like some of my favorites

I didn't make a list because I would have too hard a time choosing. The top 4 or so would all basically be tied

Holy shit yes! I need this so much. It would be awesome if they added some electronic elements, as long as they don't abandon their classic sound.

Lay me on the table, put flowers in my mouth!

Bring it on.

Been listening to Trouble Will Find Me very frequently as of late. It helps me cope with rapid collapse of the US we're experiencing right now.

I need this next album to be particularly brutal on my feelings.
