The Spartans lost. Ugh. :(
Halo related because Master Chief is a Spartan?

I watched the wings game, and looked at the score on ESPN and saw them down by like 20 points, oh well, Wings won so I'm happy. Impressive though because I never expected them to make it to the championship game though.

$40? Wishful thinking. It'll be 49.99 at the least. That 59.99 in GameStop's system is just a placeholder so people can fork over their pre-order money (free money for GameStop!).

What I expect is that Bungie will not leave the bar there. With every game they have put out, they've pushed the bar higher. They're doing that with the hub based world, and apparently with deeper stats integration on b.net. But I'd be simply shocked if they left the campaign features at "just" the Halo 3 feature set (which is still the benchmark for feature sets in console games, period, IMO). It may be an expansion, and they may be reworking their mission structure, but I think it would be very un-Bungie to leave it at that.

Agreed.

Ok but I have a ton more games played on my Main and really only account while that's just one of your accounts you play on. It's like comparing Michael Jordan Career points per game vs someone who has only been in the league for a few years like Lebron james. Jordan (me) has a lot more games under his belt and you Lebron (you) are just a n00b...PWND!!!!

when are you gonna get on? We haven't played in a while

Also, Neoism, your cousin and I just had some intense MLG custom matches against each other. His "team" won 3/4 or 2/3 I can't remember but they were pretty tight all the way through. He's definitely better than those guys he was playing with. Knows the game and the maps really well. Just though I'd tell you for some reason lol
Thanks lol , yeah he told me about it, said he got an exterm takin from him, but said it was really fun playin with you! I watch him sometimes, and can't believe I use to be waay better than him!

I actually played for a while last night with Timelike, and had a blast, I'm going to play as much as I can before the maps come out! Tried to play some ranked and I continue to not like it at all! I love Social Big team though had some great game(s). Can't wait for Thursday, but I work (tear), thank god for the weekend!

I'd like to see all the brutes die of a mysterious monkey disease at the end of the first level. Best game ever if that happened. I was never a big fan of the addition of the brutes. There, I said it.

I'm with you on this one Dax

I don't think you guys understand, Bungie logistically can't update the multiplayer aspect of halo. If you were to change something in the way it is fundamentaly played online it would require an update to everyone. The only thing that is feasible are small updates like a new weapon or armour permutation. OR they could add some new online feature that is ODST specific which would be smart and stupid because they would forcefully push their alienated online h3 users into upgrading purchasing ODST.

no I don't think you understand.
It will be a separate mode. Perhaps something that uses the campaign levels?

Something like horde mode me thinks?

A horde-like mode would be meh. A group of ODST's holding off a building or whatever against some Covenant forces? I would've preferred that in Halo 3 for a small attack mode in the campaign. It isn't something that would change or add a ton of re-playability.

True that. But I don't think Bungie would do something that would split its user base like that. Actually, we know they won't be because ODST owners and Halo 3 owners can play online together.

I still say make the main co-op compelling and replayable (L4D says "Heya dudes") and don't put some gimmicky horde mode that I'll enjoy for 3 or 4 days.

"Well why not make the horde mode super great, guy?"
Sure, take something like Gears 2's horde mode, add some more variety, make it so you have to move around the map for whatever reason (maybe start here end there), keep the vehicles, make it use the entire hub world... oh wait, this is starting to sound like what the co-op campaign should be.

If the co-op campaign is linear and doesn't take full advantage of the having the game set in a huge hub, then sure, make a mode that's more open-ended; but that's what the game should be anyways. And here's where I begin talking about why ODST's story should be minimalistic...

As far as updates to the existing Halo 3 multiplayer. It'd be awesome if they could just go all out with the armor permutations. Instead of having multiplayer achievements (which kinda screw MM up) have permutations that are unlocked for getting certain medals and maybe unlock some as you gain lots of experience. (Omlet should be able to have a spartan with silver wings and golden plateform boots)

I'm just hoping for something that incorporates the open hub-world aspect in some kind of interesting way for MP - beyond the standard 4 player coop (hopefully using these new gameplay mechanics that have been mentioned).

I'm sure we see something at E3, likely with the campaign.
And maybe some sort of official annoucement of the MP mode, which would then be shown at a later date... (probably like an IGN reveal type thing). That's my guess.

I took a look at the latest update. I can't believe there's not a single change to Heavies. I also can't believe Team Melee is getting another week.

GO METS!!

I'm expecting something along the lines of a online slayer mode as an ODST using areas from the campaign (adjusted for MM, of course). Even though that probably isn't it, there probably is something else to ODST MM-wise.

About the Halo 3 maps that come with ODST: hopefully I can install the last three maps (Heretic, Citadel, and Longshore) to my harddrive so I can access them through the Halo 3 disc. If not, eh, I guess I'll deal with it.

I'm gonna assume every copy of ODST comes with a card with a code on it to download the three maps... otherwise it doesn't make sense. I'm not sure a 360 can even copy a portion of a game disc to the HDD?!?

Has anyone discussed how the ODST co-op campaign will work?

From what has been mentioned in the information released so far, you play as the rookie in the single player, looking for the rest of your squad. So if the campaign is available co-op then who does the 2nd, 3rd and 4th player play as? From what I've read the game /first half of the game is played trying to find your squad mates. In Halo 1 and 2 your co-op partner was just MC no2, but in Halo 3 they decided that it doesn't make sense to play as another Spartan and you played as the Arbiter / Elite badasses.

It would not make sense in ODST to play as one of the squad memebers you are trying to find so will they go with a Rookie clone for player 2 or something else? I would like to see player 2 playing as the superintendant for the first half of the campaign, opening doors, turning off lights, sound sirens to distract the covenant patrols etc, could be similar to co-op play in Splinter Cell CT or something except obviously you do not have a physical presence. Then once the squad is regrouped you can choose which OSDT specialist to play with.

Has this been expanded on anywhere?

I'm guessing if they add any real noticeable addition it will just be Horde mode. Which isn't to say that wouldn't be a huge deal, because I would love to play Horde mode with everyone here, compare scores, etc. But I doubt that would even happen, I'd say 20% likely.

I'm also guessing there might be one more Title Update (AKA: Patch) to Halo 3 after ODST is released.

Obviously along with multiple playlist changes. No major changes obviously, just changes to what playlists require what and the DLC playlists.

--

Also we should definitely set Saturday night to be GAF custom night. Looks like a lot of people can make it and I'm sure more can if they attempt to be there.

I need t get on for this weeks to get some proper games on Mage and some saved films for Atlas (I'm coming Shishka, I DARE you to turn it down you jerk!) PLus its usually good times :D

Two Things.

Thing One.

ODST's MP content. We know the game will ship with Halo 3's full MP map set and features, and is exactly Halo 3's MP with all the maps. We also know the campaign features of saved films, four player co-op, etc. also carry over to the new campaign.

What I expect is that Bungie will not leave the bar there. With every game they have put out, they've pushed the bar higher. How would they make the stats integration deeper for ODST? Will this also carry over for the MM? If so, wouldn't it make sense to see this kind of deeper integration set up for those who play Halo 3 online?

Apparently you forgot about the Halo 2 MP Disc that allowed you to copy maps from the disc to the hard drive to be played from the original Halo 2 disc?

My guess is that ODST will have the option to copy maps to the hard drive or to play Halo 3 MP with all the maps straight from the disc (for the Arcade users). Maybe Bungie will take this opportunity to optimize Halo 3 MP to be installed and played from the hard drive with ODST?

Perhaps I stand corrected. I never had a copy of Halo 2 with the maps. Mine were always downloaded. I wonder if that feature carried over from the original Xbox to the 360.

My money is still on download codes though.

No worries.

I doubt it will be download though since there hasn't been a physical release of any of the DLC yet. This will essentially be just like the Halo 2 MP disc, but it will have the added ODST campaign as a "bonus."

I'm not a fan of the Brutes either, especially from a design standpoint. And no, they are nowhere near as fun to fight as the Elites.

Rock Band did it

It makes absolutely no sense for there to be a download code in the box when it's already on the disc, every single person would just give that code away to someone who doesn't wanna pay for ODST

Naturally, I grab an SMG and head back over for revenge. See how I'm crouching? That means I'm being all sneaky like.

Revenge2.jpg

Pleasantries are exchanged. Meaning about a half dozen grenades.

Revenge3.jpg

I decide this is a bit too much for even the almighty SMG to handle.

Revenge4.jpg

But where to go? Ah! What is that I see in the distance? A Warthog with a stranded gunner. Poor guy.

Revenge5.jpg

It's always exciting when I drive, even if there's no one to shoot. By now the dude with the turret has moved on through the gap; his buddies are hanging out.

Revenge6.jpg

Locking on target....

Sweet, sweet revenge.
