The ridiculous speed of the Virtual Boy - The Slow Mo Guys

Really neat. First time I've seen a teardown of the Virtual Boy.
I had a friend who owned one and got to try it out many years ago. I think he had every game made for it.

Really interesting, I had no idea. Even what we now consider to be very old, inferior tech is doing things at phenomenal rates.

I can't even comprehend how you would design something to be that fast lol.

It's is super slow motion and still fast.

Super cool. I'd heard about how they work but I'd never seen one dismantled like that.

There's a modern toy with vaguely similar tech called Bitzee. My daughter has one, it's a little flip-top box with a virtual pet floating in the middle. But when you look from the side you can see it's a vibrating strip with a single row of LEDs. You can even touch the image to interact with it and stop the moving display.

That video reminded me of an old SNL skit called Happy Fun Ball.
Lots of instructions.

I tried to find a slow-mo teardown or scientific explanation for Bitzee but even those are aimed at the under 10s. It's a very cool toy though, has a definite WTF factor.

(Bitzee contains a liquid core, which, if exposed due to rupture, should not be touched, inhaled or looked at.)
