It will suck not being able to verify whether someone said or did something, but hey if Martin finishes the books we might get Game of Thrones redone with the same actors (faces) . Just look at what our tech looked like 20 years ago and then imagine what deepfakes are going to be like in 20 years.

This is absolutely terrifying to me. Me and the bf were talking about this a few days ago. I work for a corporate office. Who's to say I don't piss someone off on the internet, they make some fucked up video using this stuff, and sets out to get me fired? With a video it's certainly possible to ruin someone's career or life, who's to say Deep Fakes won't be the next way they do it?

Besides a few other reasons, this is why I've stopped posting as much about myself and selfies and stuff. Call me paranoid but I don't know what the future holds for the world. Plus when I (hopefully) lose this weight and look a bit different, I probably still won't be posting as much of my face as I used to. Or my maybe future children as well

I love this stuff on the technology side of it, but it bloody well scares me outside of that. It's inevitable that it will be used maliciously to completely fuck people over the smallest, most mundane of things.

Okay, this is a good use of it. As long as it's not used to mock or for profit, and only for fun (no commercial use), I ain't mad.
But putting Sophie Turner's face on a porn stars is fucking gross.
