The Saboteur - Official Thread of Will To Fight

btw are there any more cross game references in this game? I think there should be.
I noticed only one so far:

Sean's racing car is named Altair.

just finished it. wow, what an awesome game! i really hope we'll get a sequel someday.

shooting dierker and having the color go back into the world from his dead body was amazing

Hmmm I was doing
the mission Unforgiven sins I killed the target than check my stats it was register as a civilian kill odd

So it looks like this will be an easy plat.....though very time consuming. There's only a few missable trophies. Anyway....helluva fun game so far.

Damnit, I finally blew up all of the Nazi stuff, found the postcard, the boxes of loot, sweet jump spots, and viewpoints in Le Havre district of the map hoping to get a bonus of some sort and... nothing. Bah! Screw the Nazi targets, I'm just gonna do the missions now.

There's just too many targets to bomb, I don't plan on destroying them all during my playthrough. I think it's nice though that there are so many that, just in case I want to play after completing the game, at least there is something to do.

I'm still in Act 1 but some of the things, you kinda learn to anticipate. Like when Veronique wants you to drive somewhere to deliver a 'package', I was already expecting to hit the gas every time she comes back to the car, hehe.

There are so many of 'em around that is hard to go about destroying all the targets in one sitting, I've been going at it 2 hours a day for the past 3 days and I only destroyed 46%; getting them perks on the other hands was a total blast.

Just got this game and am installing it on the PS3. Thing is it's just stopped at 64% and I can't seem to bring up the XMB or the turn off menu by holding the PS button. It shouldn't just sit here on 64% should it? It's been sat here for about 5 mins so far.

I don't want to turn my PS3 off in case I mess something up. What can I do?

aside from being rough around the edges, this is a great game. it's too bad it didn't get the polish it deserved.

"feeling good" is a great choice for a theme song too. it fits the mood prefectly.

Post-game question: Is there any easy way to do the ambient freeplay in Saarbrucken? There are no HQs anywhere near it, so if I die it takes me probably at least 5 minutes to go back there.

I'm near the very end of the game, and I was under the assumption that all main storyline missions were marked gold as opposed to black. However right now the game is only showing
Margot? I think that's her name, The female resistance leader. But she has a black icon. Are her missions necessary to advance the plot or is my game bugged? I have no gold locations on my map. I just don't feel like doing the side missions at this point if I don't have to. I just finished the mission where you go through the catacombs and fight with luc and veronique.

I know where you are in the game. Confused me at first too, but all you have to do is wander around a bit and you'll get a message for the next mission. Just blow some shit up in the meantime. Doesn't take very long for the mission to pop.

Let me pop in here to say that I completely loved this game. I played it over Christmas break, and it was some of the most fun I've had with a game in a long while, flaws and all.

Have to agree, this is a great game, just gets better and better as you keep playing but I would have preferred a cooler lead character. I want to be some Bondesque, Snake Solid, Altair super cool Dudebro when I'm causing carnage, not a drunken Irishman. But he grows on you.

I'm just mopping up the freeplay stuff to 1000 it, wow that's a lot of mopping up. Completionists will certainly get their money worth, this shit is taking hours, still fun though.

Would have loved to see some sort of sequel, maybe set in London or somewhere different.

Ahh thanks dude, greatly appreciated.

I'll chime in that this is a very solid game. If you can find it for less than $60, which you probably can at this point, defiantly consider picking it up. Don't expect anything fantastic, but it's a different kind of sandbox to play around in.

i just got this from the rental dudes. Fun so far! Controls are a little iffy, but its a cool setting and I definitely wanna play more.

Just popping in to say that this is apparently now $40 new and I took the bait whilst paying off God of War 3.

So far it is mindblowingly fun! I'm only a few hours in and haven't really done too much yet, but I adore the style, look, characters, and progression. Though I enjoyed AC2, Red Faction, and Infamous last year, this game is so far looking to impress me the most of them all. Setting and world design has a lot to do with it, and while the clamboring and combat may not be as precise as it's brethren, there is so much personality and enjoyment to be had thus far.

Hopefully it stays the course as I push on.

Pandemic did a great job with set piece missions. One of my favorite missions involves a train and a bridge.

And the black and white art style truly sets this game apart from any other. Seeing a lit up Eiffel tower looming in the distance at all times is just beautiful.

I just started this a few nights ago.

The opening hours are cinematic and quite enjoyable, though I chose Normal as opposed to
Feckin' Hard
.

A few missions in and things have opened up. I appreciate the late nights for days to come!

This game is perfect for podcast listening. Its the only way i play it, especially with all the free play targets to kill.

I have yet to beat it but will go back to it soon. I have some questions though:

Just how bad did this game bomb?

Also, does anyone else have a glitch with a free play target not showing up in that underground cave/ mansion on top of a hill in the north center part of the map? The dot is there but there is nothing for me to blow up and there never was if i remember correctly.

I'd love to get this. Definitely looks like one of the better sandbox games, but I haven't even open Mercs 2 yet :lol

I'm pretty sure this is an item pick up. It's something lying on the ground. They're easy to miss.

Definitely best podcasting game of all time. I've beaten it, and just cleaning up all those white dots. Love running along the rooftops when things go crazy.

Yeah, I loved this. I ended up 100%ing it (with the help of the Bombcast in the background) and I suspect I'll end up doing it all again in 6 months.

I had the most fun just exploring the world. The atmosphere in this is so great.

I've been to Paris since I finished the game and that just added to the value of the game.

One underrated piece of software if you ask me.

It's definitely underrated.

I'm not a big fan of the campaign, it had a couple of good missions but I hated the missions where they forced you to drive 5 minutes to go talk to someone and then you had to return to where you were to start the mission. Awful level design just to increase the campaign duration.

I spent most of my time, doing the freeplay events instead of the missions "I will just blow up this tower here and go for my destination" and that will end in a 2 hour rampage in Paris. :lol

I too am playing this at the moment.

The graphics are horrible (it even has 2D trees that always face the camera wtf), but it's fun with a great atmosphere. Some nice big missions so far.
Zeppeling explosion, train crash

Love it. Sure there's a couple of bits that need polish and the PC version took forever to get working but it was genuinely the most fun I've had playing a video game in a long, long time.

More like this please.

Picked this up DIRT cheap (like for $10) last week and have been hooked since then.

The setting and the noir style is just amazing. Sean takes a little getting use to, but he has a gruff charm about him. It's amazing just how big the world is and how many Nazis there are to kill in various ways.

I do feel that your disguises get looked through a little too easily though.

This is one of those little things that needs fixing to make this game pure perfect. Sometimes it's easier to sneak WITHOUT a uniform which just seems backwards :lol

Totally agree.
The only time your disguise should be givenup easily is if he's caught talking (which he does from time to time) or he does something outside the norm like climbing or running like a maniac.

I just got done with the zeppelin chapter. Don't really like the fact they drop you right into a Nazi camp that you're going to absorb some major damage from.

Finished this up several weeks ago. The atmosphere was the best part. It was great to just wander around in that little coastal town at the top left of the map. It's not often you get to play a game with this kind of art.

Fantastic and underappreciated game. I'm bummed they never released a full soundtrack, but I was able to find some songs here and there.

it's most probably a jump.

grab your car and drive up.

I think they should have had a tier system in the game when it comes to uniforms. If your a lowly grunt, you should have been limited to how close you can get to specific people or areas. While if you take a general's uniform, you can walk past pretty much anyone.

Just beat this game tonight after having it from gamefly for a month. Ending was very cool indeed.

Although I do have to say my favorite mission was
when youre on the zeppelin and its exploding and you have to get off
That gave me a total hell yes feeling.

Does anybody here actually have all all the achievements/trophies for this game? I went target hunting for a couple hours tonight and only finished one section of Paris. I don't think I'll have the patience to do the rest. :lol

I'm 20+ hours in thanks to the side-quests and those goddamn Nazi free-roam targets. I'm about 65% of the way through the main story-line.

This game is my Red Faction: Guerilla fix for this year :D The very same basic concepts, except I would have jizzed in my pants if this game had Red Faction-levels of destructability. The game isn't perfect, but I certainly find it fun to run around Paris, a shame the game didn't take off (and of course what happened to Pandemic didn't help) :(

I really feel we'll see this game in three years in a thread on GAF about underrated games people missed this gen, before the new consoles are released. Wouldn't surprise me, at any rate.

Most fun is using rdx in a whole base, walking out and pressing the trigger, so much fun.

I also tried to do a chain explosion. Quite cool. 30 explosives are a lot to do a chain. Just place the timed once and stop before Sean lights them up. So awesome!

Only Southwest Paris is left. Every other area (including Germany) is free of Nazi stuff.
Too bad the color doesn't come back in Saarbrucken. I would like to see it in color.

I 1000'ed it but in my defence I only had 5 games on my gamercard, the other four were completed so it was a shame not to.

I didn't do it the normal way though, I used the glitch that makes you invisible to the Nazis, you can wander around doing them at leisure without them shooting at you.

How do you do this?

I got the Platinum. Took me 38 hours. Saving the 40 civilians was the most annoying achievement in the game. And it was annoying. But it felt great to get that 100% completion.

This game is extremely underrated like Red Faction Guerrilla. Here's hoping Just Cause 2 doesn't get skipped as well.
