The move to deny any sort of political or social commentary in Off-topic is interesting. I think it's a radical move and unnecessary. EviLore, the issue with GAF is that yourself and the moderation team MADE this site a political front.

We all have our political views, that's fine, but by doing things such as going on Twitter to pledge GAF's support of the Paris Agreement, by actively snuffing out dissent by any political/social view that skewed towards the right, you created this issue yourselves. There can be a balance, and I don't think ruling out any political discussion will teach any lessons.

Furthermore, I'm not sure how this came about as a response to accusations of sexual assault. It's as if anything that could remotely lead to this event being bubbled up again in day-to-day discourse, such as feminism, sexual harassment and the like, is being actively blocked. Not cool.

I say this as someone who comes to GAF mostly for the gaming. Discussions in Off-topic are/were difficult because it was the definition of the hivemind that GAF swears doesn't exist on these boards. I consider myself liberal, and even I got into my fair share of heated arguments on Off-topic because of this.

I'm not defending what EviLore allegedly did. I am saying that in my 4+ years of posting here I have seen GAF change a lot for the worse and I think leaving politics out is a good move to rebuild GAF into the great place it once was. Whether or not EviLore remains the owner is his own decision to make. I personally feel like GAF is bigger than EviLore's private life, and can still flourish if handled properly.
