Negotiating with America's sworn enemies who facilitated 9/11 is not what 2012 Donald Trump would call a win.
I guess it was a mistake to negotiate peace with Japan as well since they were our sworn enemies who facilitated Pearl Harbor. I guess we should have just kept bombing them when they surrendered.

It's just another one of those times where Trump said something wasn't true, didn't want to admit that his statement wasn't true, doubled down on it, and then his people laughingly used a marker to make it look like Alabama was still part of the predicted trajectory.

This.

Trump wasn’t wrong tho. Alabama was in the cone up to about 12z on 8/29. How about focusing on the horrific conditions in the Bahamas now and hold his feet to the fire over that?

It’s fucking exhausting. You leftists care more about being technically right than doing the right thing.

I haven’t read a cnn article in years and years. This one basically, to my understanding of it, that Trump was given information and at the time he ran with that. Then the storm shifted. I followed it since it was going to basically run right over my house. It was a weird storm.

After the start of the Article it quickly devolves into Trump hate. You can almost taste the contempt as you read it. They criticize him for focusing on defending himself while the Bahamas got wasted. But who was he defending himself from? Lol. They can’t see the irony at all. The media starts shit, gets him going and says hey look Who the asshole is!

reminds me of what my Wife used to to do me when we first got married lol.

In a statement attributed to an unnamed NOAA spokesperson, the agency said Trump had been given information from August 28 until Monday that Dorian could impact Alabama.
"From Wednesday, August 28, through Monday, September 2, the information provided by NOAA and the National Hurricane Center to President Trump and the wider public demonstrated that tropical-storm-force winds from Hurricane Dorian could impact Alabama," the statement read. "This is clearly demonstrated in Hurricane Advisories #15 through #41, which can be viewed on the center's website.

Japan did surrender fully and unconditionally.

Both of you are right, OP.

Your friend is right that he lied. You are right not to care. Its not a big deal and is being overblown.
I like how we're at the point where the President of the United States violating federal law is "no big deal"

I have seen this same thing posted to other websites. You all get your marching orders from the same people.

I must confess to being ignorant of the time Tojo went to the US in secret to negotiate with FDR. Please enlighten me.
Well, FDR wasn’t President by the end of the war.

Also Japan began negotiations in May ‘45 to surrender though Russian intermediaries. The allies would accept nothing less than unconditional surrender.

So your argument is that by mistakenly using older data, the law was broken? Or that he did it knowingly, and it's all an elaborate plot to some nefarious end?
Doesn't matter. Intentional or unintentional, breaking the law is breaking the law.

Except when you're the President I guess.

Like when Nixon told David Frost "when the President does it, that means that it is not illegal"

I just think they have a hard time grasping that the fucking President would be a troll.
Because he's not.
He just always has to be right and when he gets caught doing dumb shit he just doubles down on it. This whole thing would have blown over if he was like, "yeah I misread the report and I thought it was going to Alabama, thank you to the NOAA for correcting this mistake." Instead, he's gotta fucking doctor a map with a sharpie.

You must be livid that Obama won the Peace Prize while bombing the shit out of helpless innocents in far-off countries.

(seriously, trying to extract the Lie from the Stone is such a waste of time. I thought Trump was a buffoon? So he's a deliberate liar when it suits the narrative, but a complete idiot when it suits the narrative, too)

Obama definitely didn't deserve that, despite your whataboutisms.

[He's] [objectively] [a liar], [yes]. ( i omitted any "libard" media sites for you)

He's also a buffoon in the sense that he admitted he doesn't read, dodged the draft by paying a doctor to write a phony report yet insults gold star families and McCain, and has a really difficult time reading off of a teleprompter, among other things. (Nuke a hurricane?? You don't have to watch Chernobyl to understand how wind and radiation works)

What he is, though, is a mastermind at being able to control people and get them on his side. He's very good at getting people to do what he wants them to do. Very charismatic. Makes for a great TV host.

On his own twitter post, the image has text at the bottom that says it's a model for meteoroglosits and if it contradicts any data of the actual report then to refer to that one instead. I'd love to see the NOAA model saying it would hit Alabama though as I base my thoughts on facts not whether it's left or right. I'm more in the center anyway.

The link you posted said that it does matter intentional vs. unintentional. That's why I asked what your take on it was.

Eh, those aren't really lies. All of those look like typical politicking. Do all Democrats want to repeal the 2nd amendment? No, only some of them do, so Trump must be the liar (let's distract from the fact that he's right about some of them). Are oppositional research and foreign interference the same? Really depends on who is being accused of funding the oppositional research because when Trump was accused of that, it was treason. Did Trump lie about Obama giving money to Iran? Well... that was their money (after it was frozen) and the payout was for an old debt... but Trump still lied because he was blaming Obama! I think that's the rub: Trump blames Democrats for something, they freak out, and they have to call him a liar even if the gist of the situation is still correct.

As you mentioned, he is a mastermind at being able to control people and get them on his side... but do you realize that he is doing that with his opponents just as much as his supporters? There seems to be a disconnect from reality when it comes to Trump's machinations.

I think we need to call these "lies" what they are: political slander against opponents. The notion that Trump is lying and everyone else is keeping him honest is a joke. The slander is pretty normal, but when a political party is built upon moral superiority and "purity", any slander whatsoever will feel like a personal attack, even when it is true. Trump is sometimes wrong, sometimes lies, and is sometimes called a liar then later proven to be correct, just like most previous politicians including Obama and Clinton.

This is just revenge porn for Clinton being impeached for lying. Democrats are wasting their own time chasing after Trump's "lies" while he pushes through his policy changes mostly unopposed.

Except when you're the President I guess.

Like when Nixon told David Frost "when the President does it, that means that it is not illegal"
So you've proven intent? What?

"Whoever knowingly issues or publishes any counterfeit weather forecast or warning of weather conditions falsely representing such forecast or warning to have been issued or published by the Weather Bureau, United States Signal Service, or other branch of the Government service, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ninety days, or both."

This is what this is about? I've skipped it as it sounded like a waste of time and oh boy, was I right.

As for whom I am quoting;

You have proven absolutely nothing, but I suspect you already know this. I mean it couldn't be that Trump had an old, or different forecast, it has to be some plot...to do what exactly?

As a matter of fact, as it seems you've decided that Trump did this intentionally, (as stated by your post. You may have skipped over the very first line laying out intent which I find funny as your preaching ignorance of the law. Is this irony?)so I want you to lay out the "Trump purposely reported the news falsely" angle so that I can get a grasp as to why this is seemingly such a big story.

the Russia scam failed so now we're going to impeach him for "lying" about the weather!

which is funny cos technically any statement about future weather is a PREDICTION. about the FUTURE. you can't lie about things in the future because unless you are from the future you have no knowledge of them. lol.

otherwise half the weather forecasters on the planet would be fired for LYING. because half the time the weather forecast is inaccurate, even if it's just forecasting the next 24 hours.

this whole thing is the funniest ever. this is an area where i think, Trump, you should troll people as much as possible, anyone actually mad about this deserves it. also the people most insistent that he isn't a troll are the ones being trolled the most. so full speed ahead, Mr. Troll.

Does anyone actually have a handle on what the timeline of events was, I'm getting confused about this.

I posted the tweet in the previous page from a dude saying the NOAA released a statement that "from wednesday the 28th to monday Sept 2, Trump was using our data which backed him up." They then throw the NWS under the bus for a tweet they made on Sunday refuting Trump's statements, saying it was inconsistent with the "best forecast products available at the time"

The twitter thread is just lefties crying that Trump "got to" the organization.

That's a spaghetti model and NOT an accurate representation of any impact of where the hurricane was going to hit.
Now follow along here, because you like to align yourself into camps of thinking and this is going to take a tiny bit of critical thinking to understand:

On Aug 29th, NOAA put out a graph showing that the Storm was heading to Alabama
On Stepember 1st, NOAA updated their graph to show the more updated route of the storm
On September 1st, Trump tweeted that Alabama would be hit during the storm

Using logical conclusions, it's not hard to figure out that Trump was looking at the old model from 3 days prior and was not up to date on the current events of the storm, and thus tweeted the original impact zones which included Alabama.

Instead of saying, "I was looking at old data" or "I was mistaken in that it was going to hit Alabama", he fucking sharpied in a bubble. Think about that. Whether you like him or not, as petty as this whole thing is, just think about what kind of person needs to do that to justify a mistake.

I am aware of what a spaghetti model is. The point is that up until the 12z model run on 8/29, most models were showing a potential hit to the gulf coast.

So what if he mentioned Alabama on 9/1 in a tweet?

The petty thing is to blow it up into some huge deal. He played you all (and still is). He doubled down because instead of letting him laugh it off or apologize you all went on the attack the minute he tweeted it. And he still is winning.

I don’t like Trump, but I loathe you all. I’m so fucking tired of all the bullshit. You all took a non-issue and blew it up into something that will ultimately just help Trump. Like you always do.

Well I agree it was a non-issue. I called it petty. I think his doubling down on it is what caused most people to go into an uproar about it. If he had just moved on then the media would have stopped playing into it.

Read this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2019/09/09/noaas-chief-scientist-will-investigate-why-agency-backed-trump-over-its-experts-dorian-email-shows/?noredirect=on

here's a snippet from the article that the NOAA chief acting scientist had to say about that unsigned statement:

In his email to employees Sunday, McLean criticized his agency’s public statement, saying it prioritized politics over NOAA’s mission.

“The NWS Forecaster(s) corrected any public misunderstanding in an expert and timely way, as they should,” McLean wrote. “There followed, last Friday, an unsigned news release from 'NOAA’ that inappropriately and incorrectly contradicted the NWS forecaster. My understanding is that this intervention to contradict the forecaster was not based on science but on external factors including reputation and appearance, or simply put, political.”
What is petty about this whole thing is the fact that he's doubling down on something that's not true. What's not petty is that he falsely claimed Alabama was going to be hit on Sept 1 when all models showed it wasn't going to be, putting fear into people in southeastern Alabama that they would be impacted when it absolutely (and did not) hit Alabama.

Most importantly:

But, on Sunday morning, Sept. 1, when Trump tweeted about the Alabama threat, no credible computer model showed any serious risk to the state.

It seems to me you're being petty about Trump tweeting a very real forecast that he was given. Are you really this upset about it? That's Petty 101 in my opinion.

As far what Trump knew, he was correct. A later forecast changed things. Let's move on?

I would think the President should be more responsible about the things he posts, being, you know, the President and all. If he had just looked at the most recent model he would have known there was no threat to Alabama and wouldn't have put fear into the people of Alabama for no reason. Or at the very least admit the mistake and move on himself instead of doubling ... quadrupling down on the lie. I'm not upset about it. I'm pretty desensitized to the lies at this point. I'm more upset that people here think it's cool for a President to troll millions of Americans.

The Alabama National Guard also tweeted they were ready to respond to Dorian. How about you f'n relax? If this got anybody engaged and they took interest in the hurricane, then what is the problem?

JFC you just are OBSESSED in trying to play gotcha and Trump just isn't having it. It's beautiful.

Were people in SE Alabama in “fear” over the storm?

Likely not.

I guess this just comes down to where you stand morally. I don’t see it as doubling down. He got attacked for saying Alabama and all he did was defend why he said it.

Yeah they were ready in case it hit...you have to be prepared. They also prepared to help their sister states, that's how it works. I'm not obsessed with trying to play gotcha because it doesn't take that much effort to do it. I'm more concerned with the fact that you think it's OK for him to be so out of touch with important things like Hurricanes. He also said no one has ever seen a category 5 hurricane yet there have been like 4 of them since he's been President. He's just so out of touch.
