I remember last year with the whole lizard squad shit a radio host got in contact with one of them, of course the teen was a complete ignorant asshole etc, then the host hit him with "I was wondering what did your little brother get for Christmas" the teen replied "a ps4", then the host said "oh ok well why dont you go up to him and tell him you're part of the reason why he cant play his favourite game on Christmas, on a console he just got that i am sure he is exited about much like other children in the world who want to play but cant because morons like you decide to do something like this"

The more you vent your frustrations online and provide humorous reactions, the more the people involved will see this and continue. Of course that doesn't mean you can't talk about it, but when you find the names of the groups and practically celebrate their accomplishment, you make it entertaining for them to continue. The less they are paid attention to, the better.

What? What an asshole-ish thing to say. What about all the people overseas? When I was in the military I couldn't fly to see my family for a few years, but I could go online and play a few games with my Pops or little sisters. Meaning I got to spend time with my family. Try hopping down off your high horse.
Last year PSN was down for Much longer than just Christmas.
Uhm now 40+ year old gamers are common there can be entire families parents and kids who enjoy playing games.

You realise where you're posting this, right? And regardless, have a little more respect for those with a lifestyle different than yours.
Because of how the internet is designed the only way is to have more server capacity than the size of the ddos attack. That would mean having multiple times more servers than what they actually need to run the service. Expensive and untenable.
At the minute Sony pay a ddos mitigation company large sums of money to protect them, which ultimately we all pay for.
Not everyone has hordes of family?

But apparently not being able to reach/interact with your family and interacting with them via playing games online is the same to you? Sorry, that makes no sense.
It was intended as a general statemet. Maybe I should have used "one" as opposed to "you" in the general sense. If you entire holidays consist of playing games online and you literally can't do anything else (reading a book, playing normally, going out or anything else at all), it is sad. I can't see it as anything else.
My lifestyle isn't that different.

You realise some people are less fortunate and maybe dont have any family to celebrate the holidays with, that and maybe no friends as well. So they spend time doing something that gives them comfort/happiness and not feel alone. Shame on you, get a wider perspective that the holidays isn't always a happy occasion for people.
