Yaweee said:Any suggestions on how to get certain glyphs to register better? I kept screwing up the Donate until I started doing the simple thirty-degrees counterclockwise to what it asks for.
Brobzoid said:The glyphs aren't always that representative of what they actually want you to draw. So for instance with the donate one - giving it a harder vertical starting line will get it accepted more or less every time. And the triangle is mostly concerned with the bottom line and the right line being on top of what you're trying to dig up.
So yeah, there are some issues with the interface (swapping colour depending on whether you're on the map or in a chamber, etc) and they don't really tell you how shit works. But barring that it's a fantastically made game.
Also, the auto-saves might seem messy at first, but they're going to save your ass at least once.
The triangle is weird. The best approach I found was to get as close as possible to the place you want to use it on and then draw it sorta in perspective to the surface. Make sure to have a good bottom right corner, it seems that is what makes or breaks a capable triangle. There is no rush btw, take your time with it - and you should always make sure that you aren't drawing too small, as the brush is quite thick and it all bleeds into itself if you go too small.Yaweee said:Could you try being more explicit with how to get Expose (the triangle) to work? At this point I'm ready to just stop playing and call the game off as a piece of shit; I've never seen hit detection for drawings done this poorly, or have such a lack of explanation.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it. I don't really know what the problem was, but leaving the level and coming back fixed it, despite not spending any more time or color than I normally tried to.
boo! The desperation of not knowing what the fuck is going on, having your color always depleting with the sisters alarming you about your wastefulness and having less and less color available to you - is why this game is the shit! Patching out that is for poopy-faced children.Gexecuter said:Btw there's a fan patch that makes the game easier by adjusting the color received, worth a try. Saw it at the steam forums.
Yaweee said:More thoughts on the game (since the Official Thread is effectively dead and the game is either still on sale or it is an indefinite price drop):
I'm enjoying it, but I've been ready to outright delete it from my computer a few times in blind rage.
- The gameplay mechanics, with farming color, filtering it through your body, and using the filtered color to attack enemies and develop the world to get more color and progress through the story is pretty cool.
- The architecture and world design is really interesting, and I look forward to unlocking new areas.
- I don't really like the time-crunch issues, or generally how hectic everything is. There's so much going on; it's like the developers included every mechanic they could think of but spent very little time polishing anything.
- I had to look online and use a console command ( 'show_physics ) in order to get past a mission. Note to developers: light blue doesn't show up well against shiny light gray, and doing mandatory missions with time limits to find said light blue spots on shiny light gray walls is really goddamn annoying.
- The interface is crappy. It would be a lot nicer if the map screen was auto paused, and you could either move or press a button to fast-forward. As it is now, the "pause" function of holding down control doesn't even let you scroll the map or inspect what's at different chambers, so doing basic functions like planning your next move uses up the game's turn limit. Meanwhile, the dial that controls the speed is an imprecise POS. Also, the color/heart interface could be vastly improved. Moving things around or setting precise values is a chore.
- Most of the glyph detection turns out to be pretty good, except the one that you use most frequently and the only one the game actually penalizes you for screwing up on. The game should also list the minimum color requirements, or error messages as to why the glyph canceled. I'm trying to bait some fireflies, but glyph is giving me a bunk noise no matter how good my Donate is.
- I feel a lot better about combat after the Pangolin fight. I didn't bother with Web, I just blasted at its soft spot. Took a few hundred color and a trip back to the map screen, but eventually I killed it, and now I'm not scared of getting harassed by a brother.
I think the most recent sister I talked to revealed part of the game's win condition, and I'm on pace to do it by Cycle 35. Are there numerous endings to the game, or anything non-linear about it other than what order you visit the sisters/which missions you complete or fail?
HK-47 said:Did she now...one would think you'd learn to not trust anyone. They all have their own agenda, and it doesnt involve being pals with you.
Also, regarding time crunch, there is a reason the game is called Tension in Russia.

And considering how important color is in the game, a bleached and dead environment is the whole point.
the color that's appearing in the ring he's weak to. The easy way (some would say cheese) is to web a enemy as he is eating it so you don't have to guess and hope that he eats the enemy you tagged when he's weak to that particular color.Inflammable Slinky said:Gah, I'm on cycle 10 and having a huge pain beating the Pangolin. How exactly does the color weakness work? (I have web).
That being said, this game is so super awesome it amazes me continuously.

If I remember correctly he has two rings and then there is a itty bitty part where you just have to use whatever...Inflammable Slinky said:Oh, that worked pretty well, thanks.
So once he drops below half health, the weaknesses disappear and i should just use whatever I got?

Okay, at 22:50 one of four Brothers attacks me, usually Pit (the drill guy), and even loading up a save from a cycle 21 didn't give me enough color to beat him, because I can't even filter enough to win.
How does stealing color from Sisters work? Do you get a lot? Will taking any have a detrimental effect, or do I need to take a certain amount to suffer consequences? Is it unfiltered color, or processed like it was when I gave it to the,?
It appears that I don't have many useful glyphs for boss fight. Wasp... and that's about it. Ritual, but I've never seen it do damage. Any suggestions? What part of Pit is weak? Is he like Pangolin with a "soft spot"?
