I've been playing Mario Galaxy a lot and I just had to make a thread about this. The Wiimote with nunchuk is seriously, in my opinion, the best controller ever developed. So simple and precise, so many options, and so just freaking well made. It's brilliant. When used correctly, control in games has never been so perfect. It's sad to see developers choose graphics over gameplay, and it's easy to see why Nintendo is miles ahead of everyone this generation. Unfortunately nobody seems to want to wrap their brains around the wiimote and develop new and intuitive ways to play games, but the thing is just genius. So easy to use, yet so able to incorporate complex gameplay at the same time. I can't praise enough. Before it I thought the SNES controller would never be equaled, but Nintendo has done it again. Bravo. I hope Sony and Microsoft are taking notes.

When used correctly my penis has never been so perfect.

Why did you post this....

I agree 1000% percent by the way.

I still get wowed by the controller to this very day.

Going back to the PS1/2/3 pad feels so plain.

BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH WHY DID YOU POST THIS?

I'd go as far as to say that it's my least favorite controller this gen, but I suppose sony's has been the same for a long time running.

It is. And while we're at it, Wii Sports is fuckin awesome. Any time someone calls it a casual/non-game I wanna rip out their kidneys.

Sorry, the Atari Jaguar had the best controller ever developed. Its only downfall was the system it was plugged in to; otherwise it was perfection.

It has made me like games from some genres that I used to neglect, but its too imprecise for it to be my favorite, maybe ill agree with you when they release the next version is done.

Actually I might be inclined to agree with you but for different reasons. The Wiimote is a great device because it adds interactivity to games that allows the general public to enjoy gaming. I think that is the Wii's greatest contribution to gaming, instead of being the best controller for games (which it probably isn't)

Ah, Nintendo fans.

ps: It isn't precise. Drawing a star in Trauma Center was an exercise in futility.

The 360 controller was the first controller that made possible for me to lay in bed or sit on my ass all day without getting up to turn off and on a system so it wins.

Does this thread assume every game requires 4 buttons or less? Even if you just look at Mario, the only real difference is instead of hitting a button to attack you waggle the wand. Apparently that was enough to blow your mind.

For some games it is, for some it isn't...
I wouldn't like to play PS3 games with the wiimote and vice versa.

Gonna have to disagree with the OP. Even in Twilight Princess and Galaxy it feels clunky and frustrating trying to get what I want to happen to actually happen. In Galaxy especially in aiming thrown shells / bombs and spin attacking enemies.

It's really comfortable having a separate entity in each hand to hold so you can let your hands fall naturally, but as a way of getting actions to happen in games smoothly, naturally and without thinking it's not the best, it gets in the way of the process of playing the game for me.

Don't think so...

Somehow I think that gloves will be the new standard some day, or at least they should be.

Are you kidding me? The best controller ever developed is the Dreamcast controller!

I mean, playing with a controller the size of a brick with the cables running from the front and not the back? That's pure genius!

I love how the OP picksSMG as the game the proves Wiimote is a great scheme:lol

SMG in particular would have been great with a regular controller as well.

The spin jump and how effortlessly it was to pull off with waggle made the game though

The 360's controller would probably be my favorite with the Wiimote second and the Dualshock dead last.

Why end this? I was actually just intrigued as to how most people felt about the wiimote and what their favorite controllers have been. In my opinion, everyone has practically copied the SNES controller with some extra shit up until now. I really just find the wiimote so brilliant and intuitive. It's an asset to gaming. If people want to take this thread the wrong way, that's their problem.

I guess you haven't played the manta ray or rolling ball levels, then.

In all seriousness, the Wiimote/Nunchuck combo certainly has it's moments.

It's so damn comfortable. I love the idea of having two linked pieces tethered together in such a fashion. It just allows me to place my hands and arms in more natural positions (plural).

Still, it leaves things to be desired too. Lacking an analog stick, lacking in buttons, etc.
