I'm not sure if this is thread-worthy, but I was listening to the official PlayStation BlogCast, episode 130, and one of the guys talking let slip that there would be themes coming to PS4, along with Share Play, YouTube support, and a host of other features.

Click for a direct link to the podcast.

It's exactly at 1 hour, 16 minutes in.

Stabilize me if old.

EDIT: Nevermind

Hi guys – Sid from the Blogcast here, just wanted to confirm that this was in error and the show has been corrected. Sorry for the mixup! We'll keep you posted on any news related to PS4 themes in the future.

I try not to comment on things like UI features, because I have no clue how difficult it is to make changes. But it always blew my mind that custom wallpapers in the background wasn't a thing at launch. Or at the very least, basic color changes to the background (like Vita).

I know it's not massively important, but it does go a long way for people in terms of making the UI seem more interesting. I personally love PS4's UI (I prefer it to X1, I like how slick and efficient it is. It's quick, and easy to navigate. It just works). But I would have preferred the ability to change it up a little bit.

Thank Goodness.
Just need that and to be able to choose which apps are on the homepage without having to delete them and i'll be golden with the setup.

So does themes include wallpapers or is it strictly themes as in packaged icon/wallpaper/typeface/sounds?

Tangent: My PS3 wallpaper is the exact same wallpaper it's been since I originally changed it back at launch.

Give me a dynamic Bloodborne theme Sony, thanks!

Could have the main character popping that saw out and watching it extend into a 2H blade or something.

Or just panning around one of the environmental shots.

Very nice! Finally something else than blue.
I'd really like to know about that "host" of other features though.

Nice... 2.0 is becoming big and bigger.

Add Multimedia play and you can hold the others post-2.0.

Where do you think the themes are stored? What file format do you think they're in? They aren't gifs I'll tell you that much. And you have to make sure security is locked down right. In fact, one of the PSP's security flaws was trying to install a theme (?) that was much larger than the allocated space for such files and it went and booted some file you put into it as a theme and something something homebrew. If I recall. Could be totally wrong on that. It's a big deal.
I just want to change the color from blue to black.
Maroon for me.

Thank god, people will stop complaining even though the gorgeous blue they have at the moment is infinitely superior to any other theme.

Finally, thank god.
I love themes on my ps3. So it was a surprise for me that there was no themes for ps4 at launch.

For the record, when I said customs backgrounds, I meant ones bought from PSN (guess I shouldn't have said custom, as these are approved/paid for backgrounds). I only brought up Vita (because they have default wallpapers that are various colors).

I didn't mean having an option to add your own pictures from a USB or the internet. Guess I should have clarified.

If they add themes, will the weird avatar stuff be back? I own a couple PS3 avatars that you can use on all consoles, but you can only SET your avatar to the premium ones on PS3.

Now we only need to customize the led light too!

That would be pretty cool actually...DS4Windows lets you make your DS4 cycle through the rainbow while charging. Stupid in an awesome way. Also, why is the LED white instead of blue in normal use? Sorta weird

My ps3 theme has been infamous festival of blood one since it was released. I love that theme for it, it just seems its perfect for it. Lets see which ps4 theme will capture it for me.
