This is why people don't do good deeds anymore

Anyway today I witnessed some kid getting beat up and his ps3 stolen from him by people I know. This happened in broad daylight and it was done by 4 kids around his age. He even called 2 of the 4 kids by their correct names during the altercation so he definitely got a good look at everyone and knows the people involved fairly well.

So anyway, I found out via making some calls not too long ago to find out whose house among the boys that beat the kid up the PS3 was brought to and I went over there and notified the kid's cousin who I've known for 4 years that I saw him and 3 other friends beat the shit out of some kid to get this PS3. So he allowed me to pack the PS3 up and I brought it to the local police department knowing that's where the kid went to make the police report with his parents after he got beat up.

I bring the ps3 to the police department and ask them if they have contact information for the kid that was beat up and had his ps3 stolen. The cops called them up and I decided to wait up there to make sure the kid got it back. I was in no way required to stay there I could've left, but I wanted to make sure who I was giving the ps3 back to.

Entire time I'm there thinking quietly to myself "I did a damn good thing here. I didn't have to take time out of my day to do something like this, but it feels good because I'm doing the right thing. I wonder how happy the kid and the parents will be when they show up?"

Kid comes in and starts lying to his parents saying that I was one of the guys that beat him (what the hell do I look like beating up some 16 or 17 year old kid anyway) anyway he accuses me cops actually handcuff me and rough me up a bit in there and the kid's parents are now pressing charges against me for theft and assault. If it isn't annoying enough that the cops are buying this whole thing, the kid knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that I wasn't the person that did this to him yet he continues to lie.

Tried to call up the cousin of the kid where I got the ps3 from to back me up and he doesn't feel comfortable coming to the station regarding this matter and I guess I don't blame him since the kid that was involved is his family, but damn...

Were it not for my detective buddy I would actually be locked up currently spending the night in a dirty ass cell. So yea... I did what I thought to be a good deed and I'm now paying for it bigtime :lol

Edit :: Oh and for the record I didn't cover for any of the real thieves. I gave names and addresses for every last one because I didn't approve of what they did.

So...any idea on why the kid is saying it's you?

Beats the fuck outta me. He's probably pissed about what happened to him and feels I'm secretly in on the whole thing and is intended to look him dead in the face while handing him back his properly meanwhile allowing the real culprits to get off without so much as a slap on the wrist, but I didn't protect any of them. I gave names and addresses for every last one.

Or he could simply be a fucked up piece of shit that probably deserved what happened to him :/

OH
Something is missing. What were you doing while you were witnessing the event? Maybe he's pissed that you didn't intervene?

the PS3 was stolen to begin with, d00fus. the kid you tried to save was getting his ass kicked by his friends he stole it with for trying to keep it himself. instead, you ratted them all out and rather than get his ass kicked by his friends again and his ass punished by his parents for stealing, it's on you. schmuck!! ;)

Crime solved...

He organised the whole thing because he wanted to "lose" his PS3 and have his parents buy him a 360 to cheer him up. But you ruined it, you bastard.

You sould have just called the cops with the info. It was nice of you to try to help, but, yeah, these things sometimes have shot at backfiring.

OH
Also, it's a stretch but if you were close enough to the event for him to see your face maybe he may actually believe you were one of the people beating you up. I remember a story about a woman who was robbed at her house during the day time and she described the man and he was arrested. Except he had an air-tight alibi, which was that he was broadcasting a live television show at the time. It turns out the TV show was on in the woman's house while she was getting robbed and transferred the man's face as the robber's.

Well I am glad you did the right thing. However, there are some fucked up people in this world and that kid is probably one of them. Don't let that deter you, as the next time you might happen upon a grateful person who appreciates your actions.

Why would you get involved?

Seriously...at what point did taking possession of stolen property and bringing it to the police sound like a good idea?

Meanwhile Jonnyram billed the mods 10,000Yen for this post.

There is only one way to solve this. Beat up the kid.

Yeah sorry but the story sounds a little fishy, I think there's a lot more to that story that what was said.

Nope nothing at all fishy. I've just told the entire story. I have no reason to be involved in something like this. I'm not that type of person at all.

I didn't do anything at the time I was witnessing it and I wasn't going to chase them especially since I knew exactly who they were. There was no need for me to do such a thing.

If I've left anything out at all from my story it's that I was probably one of the first people to call the cops the moment it happened. I wasn't hanging out with them either, but I do know who the kids are. I was on my way back from best buy when I saw it happening.

I even went over to the kid and asked him if he was alright shortly before the cops got there, to which he replied "fucking faggots stole my ps3 man"

aktham yes I'm black :lol

Also at the time that I got there watching this go down it was already much too fargone for a simple "Hey stop" or "Yo chill" to calm the situation down. The situation was already much too fargone for any worthwhile reasoning to be done.

The kid is just a dick. That's the best explanation of it. I'm still shocked he would do that to me after what I did for him, but I've learned my lesson.

According to my Phoenix Wright based knowledge of court cases, the kid accusing you stole your PS3 in front of a group of thugs who were actually geriatrics in a convalescence home, and you're covering for him because you don't want the court to know that you've been giving his dad blow jobs under the table to keep your job.

That, or you intervened in what was likely a setup to get a free PS3/compensation. It sounds like the kids knew each other--is it possible that they staged the whole theft in order to try and get free shit from the police? I realize the likelihood of that is slim, but these are stupid kids we're talking about.

you don't... anywho, you should beat that kids ass for real now, I agree with the post that stated "and this is why the ps3 was stolen". That little ass of a kid deserved it.

I'd say they went to the same school as the kid, and he is afraid of them, so he doesn't want to dob them in for fear of getting his ass beat again.

Was the other kid white?

Yes he was. It's sad to think that race might have played into this whole situation, but it's definitely a possibility.

Yea that's what I'm thinking. Kid must be afraid of the real kids that did it to him and instead figure fingering me as being involved wont result in any sort of retaliation and in that regard he would be completely right.

One thing I know for a fact though is I definitely wont be taking any shit from either the cops or judge/lawyer on this matter because I'm the innocent person in all of this so being pushed around like I'm guilty is out of the question.

He's probably humiliated and wants to take it out on someone who he perceives to share the blame somehow.

Probably shouldn't have waited around to see if you'd get a reward.

Now that's just stupid.

True story:

I once saw someone stealing a car and my sense of justice kicked in so I followed the guy. He drove the car to a vacant lot to let it "cool off" for a couple days. I decided I'd steal the car back from him and return it to the owner. I got in and man it was a really nice car. All leather with burled wood insets...Great stereo.

I drove it around for a while enjoying the ride while looking for the owner's house. I knew him personally but I didn't remember exactly where he lived. Well as I'm cruising through the neighborhood I see some lights in the mirror. I think "Great! Surely this fine upstanding officer of the law will help me on my Quest of Justice!" I pull over and get out of the car to greet the officer.

To make a long story short: I spent the evening chewing on asphalt and enjoying the mixed aroma of vomit, urine, and alcohol. Now wouldn't I have felt like an ass if I hadn't helped?

He's probably the runt of their group, has convinced himself that they are his friends. He's trying to keep them out of trouble so they'll like him more, I'd imagine.
