This just occurred to me, and I'm irrationally angry about it (TACO BELL)

Take a look at this picture, as it is an accurate enough representation of the standard Taco Bell taco:

Why on earth do they put the cheese on top of the lettuce, instead of directly on top of the meat? The meat is supposed to be the hottest part, so having direct cheese-meat contact will heat the cheese and get it nice and melty, not to mention you don't have to worry about any of it falling off. Let the lettuce fall of, who cares. Is there any rational reason for the ingredient order they use? #CHEESEINTHEMIDDLE.

This is a BIG DEAL.

It's so when you're ordering takeout your cheese isn't a melted mess when you go to eat it.

Also, Soft Tacos 4 life.

Cheese on top of lettuce is the proper way to do it imho...is Taco Bell the only place you order tacos? Because everyone does this.

GIS taco. 95% of tacos with cheese have cheese on top

Blargh. I can't stand soft tacos. It's like some kind of mushy, edible sock.

It's not even real Mexican food!

There has never been a single instance, in the history of gaf (or the internet as a whole), of this being posted in a taco bell/chipotle/moes/etc thread and anybody every giving a hint of a fuck.

Everybody knows, nobody cares, it's useless to mention. Same goes for burger threads and the west coast folks feeling the need to chime with their "BUT NO YOU GUYS LISTEN, IN N OUT IS GOOD" Yes, congratulations, now shut up.

I never really paid attention tbh. I usually just open the wrapper and shove it in my mouth.

Well said. I eat at Taco Bell because I want Taco Bell.

I haven't even had taco bell in the past couple of weeks, I'm not sure why this popped into my head all of a sudden.

Are you an actual monster?
Get out of here, the unmelted cheese has more flavor. Melted cheese just blends in with the seasoned meat and you can't really taste it. Keeping it on the lettuce give the whole taco more flavor.

Yours maybe. Some of us have properly functioning digestive systems.

Are you saying this because you don't recognize that I'm making a joke, or because you actually think anybody cares about your digestive tract.

Why don't you just ask them to put the cheese under your lettuce? I bet they'd do it. Then you can report back with results on your superior taco.

I might actually do that next time, if I remember.

I am deeply invested in all of gaf's gastrointestinal health.

I can remember getting a Waffle Taco and Cinnabon Delites like it was yesterday. Oh man the dopamine that flooded my brain was enough to free every junkie from narcotics anonymous everywhere. Then I got back to school and found out a kid on my quad went on a rampage while on acid when he stripped naked and tackled a police officer after busting into a girl's dorm

80% of the orders at Taco Bell are through the drive through. The meat is kept at a temperature of 155 degrees while sitting on the line. If you put the cheese on the meat it would melt almost immediately and when the customer gets to their destination with their taco it would appear to have no cheese or melted cheese clinging to lettuce.

Also, as others have said, I don't think Taco Bell is unique with this taco build.

I used to live with a guy who would order soft tacos without lettuce. His tacos looked like something a dog would eat.

My taco bell doesn't even have a drive-thru! I am suffering for nothing!

So you're standing right there? Just tell them to put the cheese on the meat and then the lettuce. They'll do it, and you can check it while at the counter.

That's not good enough. I need to be a force for change. All of Taco Bell must rectify this great injustice.
