Are you serious? Why do people always overrate the sales of anime based games? I'd be surprised if it got to 100k.

oh ignorant fool, Haruhi spawned a ton of fans and created a religion overnight.

Haruhism is the only way forward for you.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Compile Heart is a subsidiary of Idea Factory.

I think a lot of people don't realize that Compile Heart is shitty because of the old Compile company (Puyo Puyo, Aleste, Blazing Lasers, Guru Logi Champ). It's one of those names like Atari where the original company is dead but there's a new, shitty company using the old company's name.

Yikes. That sounds absolutely awful. What is wrong with Japan these days? :/

Japan game companies remind me of Hollywood these days for some odd reason

X Edge looks exactly like a Team Destiny Tales. Personally I think the game looks really cool.

Reminds me more of Valkyrie Profile than Tales...

Looks interesting though. Will wait for impressions before considering a purchase.

Oh, they changed the title of the new Layton game.
Seems to hint that the other two games could have been timeslips!? :O

the name hasn't changed (was also translated as "final time journey"), and I think the time thing is only referring to the events of that chapter, since the artwork I've seen looks semi-futuristic. Hopefully it doesn't refer to timed puzzles, because some of the ones in the first game took me awhile to figure out. D:

That's not quite true. The Compile founder works at Compile Heart.
And the original Compile themselves made a ton of mediocre and forgotten RPGs.

Yeah, looking at ex-Compile staff, about a third are at Compile Heart, about a third are at Milestone, and about a third are mia (likely at larger companies?).

Matrix didn't make Alundra 2, Contrail (ie: Sony) did. :p

Matrix also didn't want it called Alundra 2, but SCEI forced it. :/

nice to see another ps3 rpg being announced however, more need to be announced for this year.

right now there are only two definite RPGs coming out for the ps3 this year are Cross Edge and Tears to Tiara.

Eternal Sonata PS3 was suppose to come out this year but it looks like it fell off the map.

White Knight Chronicles is starting to worry me unless they just pop up and say we're almost done in the next few months

I remember seeing Alundra 2, in his website some time ago, and I always suposed they were the creators of such horrible piece of entertaiment.

Well, more specifically it was co-developed I guess, though Contrail did more of the heavy lifting iirc. Still though, it wasn't made to be "Alundra 2", and actually it's not a terrible game itself (it's just not on par with greats like LandStalker, Alundra or Dual Hearts).

Just curious, where are you finding this information? As far as I can tell no Compile Heart or Milestone staff are in the Mobygames database.

Interviews mainly... EDGE had a nice set of interviews with various shump startups a few years back actually where it was revealed the core shooter team at Compile is who left to form Milestone (and at 3 guys, was nearly a third of the core R&D team). Compile Heart is Niitani's new group (after Aiky folded) backed by Idea Factory... dunno where the other staff went exactly though (I'm assuming at least one or two other guys went to Aiky/CH), credit checks are a bit tougher for new games than old. :/

Avalon Code - DS

- published by Marvelous and developed by Matrix
- 3D action RPG
- Fantasy
- Action takes place on the top screen, the bottom screen is like a book but represents the inventory as well

Hey ducky do you think you could translate some of the info in the Avalon Code scans? Do they say anything about the staff?

Sure. The Marvelous producer is Yoshifumi Hashimoto, and the Matrix directors are Keizo Kato and Takahiro Matsumoto.

Edit: Too bad Yasuhiro Ohori isn't directing it. I would be much more interested if he did.

Edit2: HACCAN is doing the character designs and Minako Adachi is composing.

NONONONONO! There will be no redrawing of Morrigan's sprite. Don't even suggest such things.

They already did so in NxC. Demitri himself first saw new life through SvC (wasn't that good of a game, but whatever...). :lol

Hopefully, this game won´t meet the same faith as Namco X Capcom did. If this game doesn´t make it over here, I´ll probably import it although I don´t understand japanese at all. Hopefully, NIS is listening to our prayers.
If anyone´s interested, Kotaku´s got a scan from the latest Famitsu.
