I'm trying to discipline myself to not buy everything at launch simply because I am too busy playing another game. I'm waiting for sales and utilizing my GameFly queue.

The 50 hours is in reference to 50 hours of gaming time. Not 50 hours of work.

It's not hard. You have to make time or have the luxury of time to play for that long.

During semester breaks I was able to clock in 140+ hours in two weeks (which isn't much to be honest) according to Steam.

Yeah I have the same problem, having trouble keeping up with these games! I always want to explore everything there is to a game, yet its become impossible when theres so many great games out and I just move on to the next one before exploring all of them (I like RPGs a lot so thats like 50h each)
 
I forced myself to finish FF15 this week (game was average) still have Nioh, Nier to start. Adding to this MHXX comes out next week and the last game I had to put a stop on as I played it and nothing else for months.
 
I don'e see why we're making a big deal as to the amount of time the op uses to play video games. It's his time, he should feel free to spend it as he chooses. I personally have a full time job and I can still average anywhere between 21-35 hours a week playing video games. Sometimes more sometimes less depending on the situation. Just last week I took the week off from work to play Horizon Zero Dawn and I put in 70 hours of game time during my week off.
 
Yea man I feel you, I'm struggling to keep up with all the games I want to play right now. I've already moved the Switch to this Christmas and will probably have to get Persona 5 late to make room for Andromeda.

I guess too many games is better than none at all though!
 
At least we won't have dozens of 'there's a games drought! I've got nothing to play!' threads in the summer, right? :D

I play through around 6-10 games a year, the only one I've bought so far this year has been DQVIII. The next will probably be Fire Emblem Echoes on 3DS or God Wars on the Vita. It's great there's something for everyone, it goes beyond just the high profile AAA ones.
 
That is because games due last year and the year before have all been piled up to the beginning of this year. That is why times were tough and gaming was barren then and now it is a frikkin thunderstorm. I suspect next year will be barren due to similar reasons and the year after that will be an explosion.

I'm right there with you. I have all three systems this gen (including Switch) and I already have a Switch backlog because of Zelda. I want to get to Blaster Master but there's zero time with Zelda hogging it.
 
I don't seem to get the " Too many games to handle, help" threads.

I mean there are also "Too many movies" that release every month, "too many new books", "too many new TV shows", "too many restaurants" etc. But so what?

Just pick one and enjoy. How are games any different?

it's official....2017 is the new 1998 (Half Life, Starcraft, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Zelda Ocarina of time, Baldur's Gate, Panzer Dragoon Saga).
 
Yea I wish I had that sort of time for gaming again. Maybe got that much when I was younger during some long summer holidays. Recently put 3 days 8 hours into fallout 4 and that felt like I drilled it even though it was over a few weeks. These open world games are time killer and now fallout 4 is done it's going to be time to start horizon.
 
I'm still catching up to FFXV lol


Bought Zelda BotW day 1 and just pre-ordered FFXII TZA Limited Steelbook edition.


Now I need to go pre-order Persona 5....likely next week or so X_X.

I think it's because people like to think they can either 'keep up with what's released' or claim 'there's a drought' if they just reduce the output of the entire industry to the stuff released on disc by major studios in genres they like on platforms they own. These 'best Q1 ever' threads always only list the same dozen major games out of the hundreds of smaller tiles that get no hype because they aren't by recognised developers.

No other media requires a device worth hundreds of pounds to buy into only a fraction of what that industry releases. Perhaps its those blinkers provided by platforms and restricting oneself to AAA releases that help reduce the gaming output to a 'manageable' level and this worth talking about. I stopped keeping a list of books I wanted to read when my wishlist went over 200 titles in one year.
 
Ive managed to avoid buying them all. Except sale games like Thumper and Inside, and cheap games like Walking Dead

Waiting for XCOM 2 sale right now. Ill always be a year behind or so.

Ive also sold almost every major game I bought, to recycle the costs. It feels good. I dont miss any of the titles Ive sold enough to regret it.

I love how we get a new thread about this every day. I'm not even being sarcastic I genuinely do love it. Despite how bad it is for both my time and wallet. I know i'm going to miss this season when it's over. I can already imagine all the threads we're going to have a couple of years from now about how insane the first half of this year was.

To me this is the closest, I've ever felt to being back in the golden era of games where having so many high quality titles releasing right after one another was a common occurrence. I never felt this way last gen. Hopefully with all the amazing titles already announced but not released this can continue till the end of the gen.

Also contrary to what every other thread on this subject would have you believe, I have the most game to play right now, and I have the least amount of time in which to play them. Seriously you guys, the contest is over.
 
I think after Gravity Rush, Zelda and Horizon 3rd parties need to step up their open world game. Just barfing out a mission graph on a mediocre 3rd person shooter /Arkham combat system isn't going to cut in anymore. You need something that stands out in movement or combat. Ubisoft have shown they can make non-shit, unique combat with For Honor and Rainbow Six.
 
Yeah I made the mistake of starting on Witcher 3 in the middle of january. Tons of fantastic games keep releasing while I'm sitting here with a neverending game :P

Im still playing FFXV!

I have bought already Nioh(played 30 hours), Nier Automata, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush, Zelda: BOTW, I am Setsuna, Persona 5(pre-order) and Mass Effect Andromeda(pre-order).

I will be full of games until November when Destiny 2 comes.

Then I will play nothing else at least for the next 4 months!!!
 
You dont have to buy a new games immediately, if you wait at least 1-2 months, the bugs are iron away and the game is cheaper.
