THQ Nordic would be a perfect buy for Gamepass

THQ have something like 80 games in development (according to them), covering tons of little known and well known franchises they have been hoovering up over the last few years.
They are also AA specialists and have a fairy quick turn around with game development.
To me they would be the perfect company to buy for regular Gamepass content.

Probably be a drop in the ocean for Microsoft as well.

I copy and pasted off Wikipedia and noticed a few ommisions, like Kingdom of Amular.
My point was more about getting regular Gamepass content, and maybe helping quell some of the fears about Gamepass being all AA level games (even though it isnt already). Personally i feel AAA games would be a bigger hook for Gamepass, so dont really know where that fear came from in the first place.
Still i feel THQ would be a great buy, and bring regular Gamepass content.

What a snoozefest of games. Microsoft made the right call! They need Juggernaut game announcements not these sleepers.

Yeah I'm sure Microsoft can't wait to get their hands on that sweet, sweet Imperium Galactica ass.

I loved that series as a teen back in the 90s

So we're biding for publishers now?
its fine with them getting Bethesda considering the trainwreck they've been this gen, but if MS (or Sony for that matter) just started buying publishers left and right, that should ring some severe alarm bells

yeah ms move is half a desperate one.
they needed the appeling content and to secure more game content , something sony seems to work hard to cut them off with current balance of mindshare.

It would be a bad idea, because it would require much more management time & attention than a few big studios. They can already get a bulk deal easily enough with Embracer if they want to.

Don't forget the human element, someone still has to run these things & keep them on track!

The last 48 hours have brought out the most shortsighted, destructive and self destruction, gleefully sociopathic MS fanboys and the most salty, petulant and emotionally delicate Sony fanboys I've ever seen all at once.

But, taking the idea seriously:

MS do not need to buy a whole publisher to get their games on gamepass.

Doing so also does not guarantee the publisher’s new games will be good.

The more money MS invests in Gamepass, the more money it will one day have to make back, thus the sooner and steeper it will require price rises.

Buying third party Publishers and Studios is not adding to Xbox first party. They are still multiplatform games due to the need to release day one on PC, and will also thus not take full advantage of the Xbox Series X hardware. All that is happening is that they're being prevented from releasing on Playstation and possible Switch, thus harming the game industry and us, the customers, overall.

Honestly, the sheer fucking delight some people have at the idea of getting to keep having their toys, while others have theirs taken away, is mind boggling.

Lars Wingefors doesn't strike me as someone who wants to be subservient to one of the titans, he wants to become one of the titans. I fully expect Embracer Group to become one of the largest third party publishers in the coming years.

I know, it has been the most fun I've had in here.

Gamepass must be this life changing experience i dont remember ever having, but some individuals seem obsessed with its very existence. Does gamepass give good head or something? I dont understand the fascination with it the same way I dont understand the fascination with PS+, but I also prefer physical copies.

Why do people think that ms will just buy everything now? They don't have access to all their money. If this zenimax purchase doesn't pay massive dividends Phil is totally fired...

Not feeling that franchise list, too much of a scatter gun approach with them and how they acquire. Metro and Saints Row are the only exciting IP there and Saints Row would need a huge budget to get anywhere close to a proper open world competitor for GTA.

Dang, GAF is in full psychoterror mode with this thing, I don't what to think anymore... I'd like the games come to GP btw, just don't want them to start really buying everyone and their moms
