it's good to be rich

There are times when divorce forces people to do strange things. Burn sheets. Throw out clothes. Toss rings into the ocean. But when you get $100 million in your divorce, you can trump just about anything and that's what happened with Tiger Woods' ex-wife when she bought a $12 million home and bulldozed the whole thing.
Yes, according to TMZ, Elin Nordegren bought a $12 million home in North Palm Beach, Fla., but didn't like it, and has plowed the whole thing.
The house, which had six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, is now just rubble, with no word yet on what is going to replace the beautiful building you see above, but I guess when you have nine figures in the bank, it doesn't really matter what you want.
I guess we can all applaud Elin on not rolling over after all this happened and continuing on with her life. But I think we can all agree on one thing: Why in the world is she still in Florida? Wouldn't you want to move back home for good?

So your thread title is a lie? She demolished a house she bought, which is very common. She didn't *build* a house then have it demolished.

I mean, goddamn, the article itself was only a few sentences. You couldn't even read that?

Where is "home" supposed to be, Sweden? That can't be a real option.

Title is slightly misleading. She didn't build it and then tear it down. She bought it and tore it down, which is much more sensible. She probably just wants the property.

maybe it wasn't so bad that Tiger cheated on her. Anyone who can build a 12 million dollar home and be displeased with it to such a level as to demolish it is probably literal hell to be around

Came here to rage but buying it for $12 million to demolish and build something else is pretty reasonable.

I don't see that many houses with more bathrooms than bedrooms. I guess the owner had different priorities.

Same.

She's stimulating the local economy guys. Letting that alimony trickle down to the proles for a change

I don't know if you're trying to be cute, but that's actually what's happening here. Money will go to people working on her new house, instead of it just sitting in stocks and various holdings.

I don't think it's a nice looking place either.

I'm really not seeing the problem with this.

She's most likely going to have a new house built on the land she purchased.

Theres no reason for an over-reaction in this case. She can do what she wants as its her money and her property.

There must be more too this than what is in the article.

The more is the land is probably 75 percent of the purchase value. People buy land and demolish/rebuild all the time. If you want to build in a place like this, there are no other options. Vacant lots do not exist.

What a strange and hasty conclusion. Anyway, she didn't build it, she bought it built (read the OP) and probably knocked it down to build something else or better. I'd be more angry but for the fact that a lot of people will have jobs because of her move.
