Tim Allen Complains About Not Being Able to Use N-Word on 'The View'

Tim Allen expressed his frustration with 'The View' co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Abby Huntsman, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Meghan McCain.

"You can't even go back and talk about the book [Pryor] wrote," Allen said to the ladies.

"And you know, what I got to do sometimes sometimes is explain - which I hate - in big arenas, that this is a thought police thing and I do not like it. But when I use these words, this is my intent behind those words. So as long as you know my intent... I still get people who say, 'Just don't say it.' And I said I'm not going to do that."

Joy Behar added, "If I ever brought that old act back, I'd be driven out of town."

What would you do, Tim?

....COCAINE?!

People who take a "principled" stance on being able to say the n word tend to suck ass

This is funny, because I read the threat at... the other place, and of course it's the worst thing ever, bigot, racist, nazi, you know the usual.

Here is the actual video:

It's such a puffball nothingburger. The View people ASK HIM ABOUT IT. He's not COMPLAINING, he's answering their question.

It's funny they even mention how people take things out of context online & twitter and it blows up and he says "I'm surprised they haven't already!" El Oh El.

Can we all agree that there is a difference between referencing past quotes and performances, and actively using racial slurs?

Take this for example.
"I'll have those n****** voting Democratic for 200 years."
President Lyndon B. Johnson

I know what he said, you know what he said. Do we still still need the stars to protect our delicate sensibilities when we're all reading the quote properly in our heads anyway?

Ugh you’re so right. Principled stances are just the worst.

Protip: the quotes imply sarcasm, the implication being I don't actually think it's a principled stance and these people are just too dumb to think beyond muh freeze peaches and see how dumb they look when they try to explain it. Just go out and say it then you pussy and don't apologize.

On being able to say nigger or not say nigger?

"To say nigger, or not to say nigger, that is the question" - Bill Shakespeare 1600

zomg ban this man said not me. I'm just glad you didn't write a dissertation about it first.

It's like soft core porn. You have to use your imagination!

Here's a bit more. Know why I don't have a problem with Louis CK doing this bit?

...because the entirety of the bit depends on the fact that we all know these words are offensive, and he's making fun of himself.

Why's the nazi pug video funny?

...because gassing the Jews is a horrible thing juxtaposed against a cute little pug getting excited. The joke doesn't work if you don't accept gassing the Jews is a terrible thing to get a pug excited about.

So there's definitely a place for people using taboo words and phrases to make a joke, however I'm skeptical of Tim Allen ever being smart enough to actually land a funny joke, let alone one that has any sort of poignancy to it.

Why do people want so badly to use that word? I’ve never gotten the urge to say it.

Its the fact you can't say it, unless your black.

Black people say nigger all the time as much as they want but if you aren't black then you can't say it ever. Which is in itself racist because society says you can't say nigger if your white because of the color of your skin.

It's also a major keystone for black people to continue to press guilt on white people. White guilt towards black people is all too real a thing. It's almost like we have to pay for things other white people did a long ass time ago (but they ignore the fact that it was black people who sold the black slaves to white people) before we were ever even born. And they can also play the race card anytime they fuck up and want to get away with it, or try to. So that verbal barrier is important to them to keep this going so they can continue to bitch about wanting to be equal but also expect to be treated special at the same time.

So it isn't that people are dying to say it, just the people who aren't black that want to use it are wanting things to actually be equal.

If white people can't say it then neither should black people. Either it's all ok or none of its ok.

I think it’s less about actively wanting to say it and more about #Resisting the boot heel of authoritarian censorship.

Right, my thinking is just like look if it's so fucking bad, then how about you stop saying it too, ok? Lets move forward at some point here. I don't understand wanting to hold onto that for any reason other than to hold it over whitey.

Most white people have to say it with the hard R or it just sounds silly. Find some YouTube videos of whites saying “nigga” if you don’t believe me.

Well... White people were using the word first... Go ahead and reclaim it... StormFront and their ilk already are.

What about context though?

Stormfronters are using it as a pejorative for black people. If a white person is singing along to Snoop Dogg and says it, it has a completely different meaning. Why treat them the same?

It's always corny when white people say it. N-word is corny as fuck too. Just avoid it.

Alright thanks. I now declare that white people can't say it either because it's corny as fuck. Problem solved.

Sing along to the song. THAT doesn't personally bother me. I don't do it... I replace it with brother. I personally don't use the N-word ... Hard R or A. My people were called that word since slavery days and still to this day (very few people will actually do this in person, but the ones that do usually live to regret it).

Even Asians and other non-white peoples use the hard R version when talking about black folks.

But singing it in a song by, for example, Kendrick Lamar is fair game.

The fact that Tim Allen would be comfortable enough to come out and talk about this in public makes me think the word police con of the left is slowly being exposed for what it is: a tool to gain power and control.

Sorry blacks, but the white people who convinced you they’re your closest allies were actually just using you all along.

Does he have dentures now or something? Why is it like he has a mouth full of cotton when he speaks.

I like your approach but the problem is that not everyone adopts it. There’s no consistent rule set and it’s therefore impossible to apply at the macro scale. For example, remember last year when Kendrick invited a young white girl on stage to sing with him then stopped and shamed her when she sang the trigger word which he wrote into the lyrics? As you suggest, that’s completely harmless and the context should negate the impact, but that’s not what happened in reality.

In my view, if black culture wants to be mainstream (it clearly does) and accept the influence and money that come with it, it has to give up the claim to victim status and the associated trigger words. It is completely unfair that the word can be written into a song that goes on to make millions of dollars only for the artist to turn around and shame a subset of fans for participating based solely on their race.

What do billionaires Kendrick Lamar or Jay Z have in common with a black slave from the 1800s? Absolutely nothing, so why do they get to cash in on the victim status earned through the actual oppression experienced by the slave? Would a recent immigrant from say Nigeria or Ethiopia with zero ties whatsoever to US slavery be given a pass? Why?

Out of all the words, why does this one get the special treatment of being censored?
Becuase white people were not forced into slavery in though pre-civil war so and they didn’t have to deal with Jim Crow.

Like seriously, are you just completely ignorant to history?

Why do current_year black people get to build an industry on the suffering of their distant ancestors?
