In reference to the numerous movies about Steve Jobs, Tim Cook on Stephen Colbert's show said:

I think a lot of people are trying to be opportunistic and I hate this," he said. "It's not a great part of our world.

To which Sorkin has responded with:

"Nobody did this movie to get rich," he said. "Secondly, Tim Cook should really see the movie before he decides what it is."

"Third, if you've got a factory full of children in China assembling phones for 17 cents an hour you've got a lot of nerve calling someone else opportunistic."

Cold blooded

Sorkin is my favorite writer...he has a gift for penning fascinating biopics in addition to excellent drama and unique dialogue.

I, for one, am looking forward to this film and his other work for years to come.

If those kids weren't working for 17cents an hour to make Apple the company they are, then Sorkin wouldn't have a movie to make...

....and he is being opportunistic. He should deal with it, instead of deflecting.

You think Sorkin wouldn't have a movie to make if he didn't make a Steve Jobs movie?

Wat?

Don't see how making a Steve Jobs movie is anymore opportunistic than making any other biopic.

I don't think those kids slaving made Jobs the genius he was, whether one likes him or not....and he isn't deflecting by telling someone they should watch it before judging.

Since when are iPhones assembled by children? Does Sorkin have proof for that allegation or is he just talking out of his ass?

Sent from my iPhone.

I haven't been paying close attention but I got the impression that the Sorkin script painted Jobs in more of a good light.

On the other hand, I think The Social Network was pretty unfair to Zuckerburg even though it got a lot of details right. I kind of perceived the central theme of that movie was pointing out the irony of someone who's an asshole shaping the future social dynamics of the world. While it's an interesting point, and it's probably valid for the type of people who are designing social media in aggregate, it's pretty shitty to single out an actual person like that, even if I'm not his hugest admirer.

Multimillionaire calls other multimillionaire 'opportunistic.'

Next thing you know they'll start trying to make 'greedy' or 'aggressive' stick as pejoratives.

Opportunistic would've had the movie releasing much earlier.

Seems Sorkin really wanted to nail it.

He probably wrote out the first bit..paused...wrote out the second bit...looked at it...took a shot, and then said fuck it.

Sorkin wrote all those fire comebacks in The Social Network, so you know he can bring the heat.
