Shouldn’t the title also include “normal customers who enjoyed the first game and it’s lesbian dlc”? No? Only haters and detractors didn’t like the game? LOL OK
Ironic that the folks behind the thread are truly the most salty ones. Can't possibly fathom people disliking a game they enjoy and have to rely on calling them racists, sexists, transphobes, homophobes, alt-right, conservatives, etc.

Just wait until the actual response to the review bombing and articles starts to pick up in journalism

Now that the game has enough "SJW" political influence to be the target of deliberate attempts to tank its success....you can fully expect supporters to champion the game and its creators and shower them with support

If you hated Neil Druckmann before, watch what this does to him LOLOL

B...but PewDiePie is alt-right.

AngryJoe is a sexist.

Upper Echelon Gaming is a racist.

CohhCarnage is a transphobe.

They didn't like the game, so it must be true!!

Also the accusations of people not liking the game as homophobes or misogynists are nothing more than cheaply using LGBT people and women as shields against legitimate criticism.
Or most are just making inferences from what we've seen all of you post in threads over the last couple months frothing at the mouth about SJW this and Cuckman that, and trans people and masculine looking women. It's not like people are making up that it's abundantly clear that a wide swath of this forum matches the accusation. The metacritic reviews and posts in this thread justifying the hate don't exactly exist in a vacuum.

"Matches the accusation" is a funny way of saying making over-generalizations of people who don't like a game just because they dared to not agree with the access media.

Exactly.

Someone posted a VG24/7 video suggesting people who dislike the game are incels and called it "ultimate Neogaffer review ".

Draw your own conclusions as to where the salt mine lies,

Sorry, I just have to do it. And they said people hate it because of SJW stuffs, pfft.
This is such a misunderstanding of the actual plot and themes and reason why they are not professional reviewers.

Geralt is not a morally conflicted person, he kills monsters, Eredin is evil through and through. Comparing these characters is like comparing Avengers cookie cutter heroes and villains to something like Watchmen.

What? nonsense. Geralt does kill humans too, and Geralt will absolutely kill anyone that harms Ciri or Yen. Eredin is evil through and through? Oh how do you know? you didn't get to see his perspective or see what he does for his kingdom. And even if Eredin is somewhat good, you think Ciri or Geralt will make peace and leave Eredin alone? Please, they don't live in Eredin's perspective, what they witnessed is just their family killed in front of their eyes, and just when they decide to make peace in order to save/help another friend, another got killed and wounded by Eredin, again. And you go 99 miles just to head back when the destination is 1 metre in front of you? It would have been a better plot if she FAILS, and then give up.
Please, this is no cookie cutter, it's terrible writing. Your understanding of what I write it wrong, what I write is meant to showcase the relationship dynamic between the characters, and show what is plausible, the plot itself is never meant to be 100% accurate, it's an analogy.

No, I surely can't see that. Everything I've said about this topic is based on the actual events of, & all information found in, the game.

You can keep dismissing my words as fan theory if you want. Have at it. You're not convincing me of anything.
People really are bad at recognizing the issue here no matter how much you explain it to them. As if when a person plays a game they completely lose all life experience and don’t project onto it. It’s not about theories, it’s about the fact that it’s a highly unrealistic scenario in the real world, and the Last Of Us tries pretty hard to ground itself in plausibility. Having 100% certainty that Ellie would lead to a vaccine before you’ve even attempted procedure is completely implausible. There would never be 100% certainty in this situation - it’s not that deep. So yeah, when given the scenario by Marlene while playing the game plenty of people were like “Bullshit thats not true, you can never know something like that” - because It never would be true in a real world version of that scenario. Not difficult to understand this. And the game allowed for you to think that because it didn’t give the player any real hard evidence it was anything more than a delusional hope from the fireflies - which let’s not forget Tommy peaced out of them due to the fact that he saw them as delusional.

Otherwise I’m warming on the story, I think my expectations were too high. Now I’ll play it again and see if I still have the same issues.

TL;DR - The 10/10 user reviews are, on average, less genuine than than the 0/10 user reviews. The 0/10 reviews are more similar to the 2 to 8 reviews whereas the 10/10 reviews are less similar.
Thats some really bored Statistics student.

Yes, that's my problem with the way Joel is portrayed in the game as believing that they would develop the vaccine 100% sure, I mean, he could wonder about the possibility, but be 100% certain? no way.

And given how the fireflies treated him at the end of the first game (he wakes up in bad condition + attached to a chair when they find him + the conversation he has with his captors). The implication that such a thing is "sure" is un-tenable.

I would say that the people who genuinely and ironically think the writing of TLoU2 is a 10/10 masterpiece, are still in the honeymoon phase. I think the vast majority of them will continue to love it, but given enough time they'll recognize that there legit issues with how overly long the story is, and how it's paced/structured.

What about SkillUp? or is he just a mean white man?
Polygon and Kotaku must be homophobic, sexist, and racist, too. Go figure. Here I was thinking they were some of the most left-leaning game journalists out there, but then they said TLoU2 was a bad game. They must've been taken over by the alt-right when I wasn't looking.

Just wanna put out there that it’s completely legitimate to criticize this game or any other game because you don’t like LGBTQ inclusion. That should never be immune from criticism. Sure, people can accuse you of being “phobe” but you gotta take it in the chin.

Gay people are also free to criticize straight characters, nothing should be immune from criticism in my opinion. Total freedom of speech.

I don’t know about review bombs or sjw, all I can say is that the narrative pales in comparison to the original in a drastic fashion. All of the nuance of the characters is completely lost in tlou2 and we are left with one note characters.

Such a disappointment

One note characters means character with one personality, but how does it apply to TLOU2, because TLOU2 story shows people arnt just good or evil. Joel or Ellie werent saints, because they also killed people who had families, and Ellie has realised that during the game.

Also TLOU2 story shows multiple timelines, so narration in not just about simple revange. There are multiple times when Ellie recall the evens from the last few years and you still have to play with Joel accompany like in the first game. Such recall events explains very well many details and shows a true scope of Ellie and Joel relationship.

Review bombing over trans character rumors... who in game is the most straight character lol (abby).
For me, the pacing is less than ideal but the story and characters are amazing if You stick with it

Writing is far from great but the meaning of what they are saying is good. The game could use some editing to shorten it's length too.
As of now - it takes it time and totally worked me over from hater 180.
I always have trouble understanding what is "good writing" and what is "bad writing". It's not about what the story is but what sentences are coming out of characters mouths? That i's less than believable ? That it's not life like "He would not say this in real life" ?
Writing is such a weird thing/complaint to use with video games and generally acting. Especially if it's in English which is not my native language. Everything just sounds like a normal movie

People need to stop bringing professional reviews into this, because not even the most negative ones read close to a 0/10. Because its just not a credible score, its a capricious punitive overreaction.

Gotta say as well, do people really want reviewers to start handing out 0/10's that easily? I mean if you think 0/10 is justified for this game. what else is deserving of this also.

Thats just the latest pivot after months of fear mongering about SJW and trans characters that turned out to be fake

How did FF7remake get all praise in the world and yet this game is dragged through the shitter ? Everything about ff7 remake is worse, the story is hot garbage, it has terrible pacing issues, it's not even half a game - it's the first 5% of the original story, the side quests are just terrible. The combat was good and the intro was fun, don't get me wrong I enjoyed my time with it - but TLOU2 is clearly a superior game. Oh no, they made Joel's shoulders slimmer. What's with the double standards.

I find it to be the opposite

I think haters couldn't find many negatives in TLOU Part II early on so they choose to jump on politics

The enviroment surrounding TLoU2 is far more poluted than FF7R's. This makes people more likely to hate/criticize the game and point its flaws.

For ND and TLoU2 we have reports of poor enviroment conditions (like good old crunch and forcing artists to look at video/image of real dead people for the sake of authentic gore), Neil Druckmann openly declaring to apply Anita Sarkeesian views into his games, Sony's double standards towards censorship, lots of 10/10 reviews that were clearly undeserved, misleading marketing campaigns that made it seen Joel had a bigger role and didn't mention you'd play as Abby for half of the game...

With FF7R we have a pretty straightforward remake of an old classic with no real world controversy surrounding it.

All sony games get review bombed on metacritic and they remove those scores but this seems a bit too much
You've got Xbox fanboys foaming at the mouth console warring on the eve of new-gen, current societal issues empowering the alt-right to chat shit, a PS4 exclusive sequel to one of the most well-recieved games of all time which has a cast of characters/representation hated by the alt-right. It's a perfect storm.

Totally agree with this. It's insulting to mention FF7R in the same sentence as TLOU2. TLOU2 is leagues ahead of it in every quantifiable way. Haters are just salty as fuck.

Dunno why everyone seems to be trying to justify why the game is good or bad then getting into arguments.

If you like the game, good for you. If you don't, good for you.

You can't change either side of the coin's opinion.

All exclusive games get negative scores from haters and fanboys, but they also get tons of ridiculous 10/10 from their fanboys as well. It usually
balances each other out, but not in this case.

I'm more keen to believe in a 10/10 than a 0/10. Just speaking to how I review games I could never give a 0 to something that's so well made, it makes no sense. 0 to me means the game offended your sensibilities in some way, because unless it's Superman 64 it's hard to justify such a rating.

Some people hate a game so much for one aspect that they completely ignore the other ones. if i would hate the story with a passion, i would still give it a 7 or 8. But still i understand those people.

Oh, I'm sure those 10/10 reviews were written by real people, though there is a reason why they are reffered to as npcs.
