The Official Site for this just went up: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/ec6j/index.html
Website footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-93fbD8EB-4

And the bundle: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/hardware/pack/ec6j/index.html

For those that don't know, this is basically a Life Simulator using Miis. Make friends, play games, fall in love, have kids, and so on.

You can import a Mii from the 3DS or Wii U Systems, or create one in game, then create a profile (name, blood type, birthday, etc), and set your voice (pitch, speed, accent, etc). Then you set yours Mii's personality by answering five questions.

You can also get new Miis to move onto your island from friends in local play, through QR codes, or importing from the DS version, but you can't bring any attributes over from the DS games.

Incidentally, the DS version did roughly 3.5 million copies in Japan in 2009. It was never localised in other territories due to the nature of the speech synthesis engine used in the game.

Release: JP April 18th, 2013
Cost: ¥4,800
Players: 1
Save File: 1

Local play, Street Pass, Spot Pass, Nintendo Network.

No online play announced as of yet.

These games seem kinda shallow and I probably wouldn't buy them if Nintendo did bring 'em overseas but it still bugs me that they don't even try.

Shallow, maybe, but it does seem like there's a lot to do in it. A little like Animal Crossing.

See, I don't think these games (or the original, at least) come anywhere close to Animal Crossing in terms of volume or scope, which is why I was so surprised to find out the first game had sold so well.

You can't play as you (short of a mask) and make <insert favourite celebrity> have a child with you in Animal Crossing though.
