Too Late for Sequels - Am You Cry?

Starflight for the Genesis. It was kind of a Star Control 2 ripoff, but it was really fun!
Starflight is awesome! I don't know about it being a clone of Star Control since they have two very different aims. One is a sci-fi action/exploration game and the other is a new take on Archon/turn-based strat game with action-based battles (this time with Space War-style fighting).

Regarding Illusion of Gaia, search for Terranigma on the intraweb. :P

I'd really like a sequel to Blast Corps...god that game would be fucking orgasmic with next-gen graphics and physics.

Star flight and star control 2 were almost the same game! SF was exploring to discover why the stars were exploding and SC2 was to try to gain friends against the Ur-Quan... but the gameplay was exactly the same. Travel from solar system to solar system mining in order to build up your ship so you can travel farther and faster. Upgrading weapons and items. Both even gave you different choices of things to say to aliens when you meet them in space. Not complaining, I love both!

Well, I guess that's your interpretation :) But, yes, they are both awesome, awesome games. If you don't mind some clunky fighting, Wrath Unleashed from the good guys at Collective/Lucas is a great new take on Archon...errr...basically a clone of Archon, really.

Hmmm Are you thinking of Star Control 1? Because SC 1 and SC 2 are completely different games, the only thing that's even similar in hte gameplay is the battle. In SC1 you get a scenario and each side takes turns to try to take over most of the star cluster/destroy the others base. But in SC2 it's a space traveling RPG. There is no strategy at all in SC2.

Starflight predates Star Control 2 (and Star Control 1 for that matter) by a good margin.

There was a Starflight 2, IIRC, but I never did get a chance to play it...both Starflight and Star Control were PC games before they were Genesis games...

Demons Crest

Those bastards at Capcom, replacing this with that gay vampire Dante, I won't forgive em! :lol

That was apparently the Japanese box art.

Hmmm, I guess I am. Oops.

Huh! Actually after I posted that, I remembered that starflight was first. But they're still the same game. So SC2 is a Starflight ripoff. And while looking it up just now, I discovered that Starflight does have a sequel for the PC. They still should have made a sequel for a console.

What was that one cool shooter/sidescrolling sorta action RPG for the NES? Xxyez or something? That game rocked.

And Guardian Legend ftw

Aladdin for Genesis -- They made two movie sequels, however crappy you or I think they are; they should've given us at least another good game.

Grim Fandango -- I'm on the fence about this one. I'd really like it to stay as a classic. But a revisit with the beloved characters in the game would also be accepted. Perhaps a prequel, even though the idea has become pretty cliched, would be best.

Pokemon Trading Card Game.
I got that game for $5.00 from Blockbuster... just because it was cheap.

I was amazed to discover that it was actually fun.

ristar-17.gif

I only knew about the game via Emulation, but man, Ristar is an absolutely awesome game, with great music, and th whole extendable hand / skull bashing thing works so well. I instantly fell in love with it.

Plus, it has the awesomest credits ever! It was make for a great SEGA DS gameline, really.

Splatterhouse(SH2 & 3 don't count, they were trash)
Kid Niki(A real one,not that Japanese bullshit they released)
Ghost Manor - Atari2600
Jungle Hunt
Mountain King
Xmen Arcade
Space Ace
Ghostbusters
Jail Break
Rygar
Smash TV(I know about Total Carnage but that isn't a direct sequel)
Jet Set Radio Future
Nights
Bad Dudes
Forgotten Worlds
Ghouls N' Ghost(no, not Maximo damnit)
Rad Racer
Q-Bert
Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion(World of Illusion?)
Donald Duck Quackshot
Battle Arena Toshinden
ESPN Extreme Games
Pro Wrestling

Now I know a few of these have part 2's or 3's, but no, pretend like those don't exist because the sequels to those games suck ass.

Aerobiz.

Granted, there was Aerobiz: Supersonic, but that always seemed more like a special edition than an acctual sequal. Kind of like the Metal Gear Subsitinaninceaence games.

Those who suggested Blast Corps, Captain Skyhawk and Jackal made the correct choices.

Add Kung Fu, Smash TV and Vigilante 8(yes, I know) to that list.

Faxanadu! Those other Xanadu games don't count. For some reason they don't appeal to me at all. So where's my Famicom Xanadu 2 or Re(volution)xanadu in the original Faxanadu style?

agree with Rlan on Ristar, and well there are so many Sega franchises that are pushing up daisies that should be here and now kicking ass (Streets of Rage being a fine example).

Others:

X-Wing Alliance - where in gods name did this Star Wars genre go?! An Xbox Live based online 'galaxy' of starfighter battles and alliances would be one of the greatest Star Wars games ever.

Yoshi's Island - yes, the N64 traversty happened, but Mario 64 DS just went to show how fantastic a 3d Yoshi could be. It doesnt HAVE to wait for the Mario license for Yoshi to shine again (less spoken of Sunshine yoshi's the better)

Anime licenses - An Outlaw Star game would have kicked some serious ass, same as Trigun (always remember that mysterious cancelled Sega game 'Planet of Gunsmoke' or whatever)

Rocket Knight Adventures - in the name of god, my soul cries out for a new game. How the GBA managed to avoid even getting a god damn port is beyond my wildest imagining.

I'll vote for this one too. Only multiple ending game I've ever played enough to see all the endings.
Same here! And of course you also saw the uber-ending...? (I'm obsessed with mentioning this)

I agree with many on their lists. Here's mine:

Legend of Kage
Cobra Triangle
Kid Icarus
A NEW Punchout!
A NEW Star Tropics
Blast Corps
Ghouls and Ghosts (and I agree with the guy who said NOT MAXIMO)
Rygar
Buster Bros. (sure, there are three of 'em, but how about a new/modern one?)
Bionic Commando (ya know, a few years back I read Capcom was planning a new Bionic Commando but it wouldn't be ready for awhile. Anyone hear anything? Maybe it got scrapped?)
Jet Force Gemini (co-op was awesome)
Sin & Punishment (PLEASE! Someway, someday!)
A next gen Legendary Wings
Mischief Makers
Beetle Adventure Racing
Mystic Heroes (it may be Dynasty Warriors-lite but I like it)
A follow up to JSRF
A next gen Excitebike as a follow up to the excellent Excitebike 64
A new pilotwings
Hell, if Nintendo could make cool/compelling versions for the rev, I'd love to even see sequels to classics like Balloon Fight and Ice Climbers
And while I'm dreaming, I'd love to see a new Karnov game on next-gen consoles.
Last but not least, I'd kill to see the oft-eludeded to sequel but now has no chance in hell of materializing: Skies of Arcadia 2! It is a damn shame we'll never see a sequel, I loved the hell outta that game.

I would say Gunstar Heroes, but it just got its sequel on GBA. Thank goodness!
