Trackmania Nations release today!

Is it possible to delete key bindings? I'm using a GC controller with the R button as analog throttle, but somehow the R digital click is "give up"...which is rather inconvenient :lol

Or maybe I should just use my wheel, but it doesn't seem like the right game for that. Anyone using a wheel?

//edit...maybe if I bind the digital click to the regular throttle, that should work. My wheel question still stands though.

Downloading now, can't wait to play. Those screens look awesome, I can't believe this is free (and to think I wasted my time downloading the Heroes V demo instead *junk*)

I'm still in disbelief at those screens, think I can get it looking that good on my AMD 3000+ Geforce 6800nu 1GB Ram pc?

Keyboard control sucks!

I can assure you that keyboard control rules and you can be at the very top if you just practice :)

There's lots of top players in TM Original, Sunrise and Nations that do extremely well with keyboard control. I have always been a keyboard player, since the beginning (2003).

EDIT: I see :Motorbass already enlightened him about the issue.

Chris: Yes. Although, I can't guarantee the performance with SM3.0 enabled will be much above 30~ fps.

Thanks for the reply. Odd about the hit to SM3, I thought SM3 generally (and on Nvidia 6800 & 7800 cards in particular) provided both better quality visuals and a speed boost (SC: Chaos Theory for example).

Of course I'm not a techie so my knowledge on the subject is limited.

It will run well. Its not a resource hog.

Is anyones in game server browser going extremely slow? It takes forever for me to log in. The load connect time is annoying. Im suspicious that Nadeo is still adjusting their servers to deal with the load of all the new players that have joined sinced yesterday.

Try disabling the post processing effects and see how it improves frame rate. I also found the benchtest to be a bit wonky, in-game performance is far more indicative of actual performance.

Don't go by the benchmark thing. It doesn't seem to accept new settings or something. Judge the performance in game using something like FRAPS.

BTW: Tre`'s Impossible Races 4 will be up soon. Pass is poof.

Trackmania rox, hard as hell on some tracks, tho...Practical Skills is probably the hardest I've seen so far...

But man, I keep attacking them to take them down. :X

edit: based on new information, I will use fraps to measure framerate

you're right about SM 3

I get 22-28 fps with it enabled, but with SM 2 I get 70-80fps and sometimes up to 100. I wonder if something is wrong with their code or there is really supposed to be that kind of drop off.

Game is up for those who want to trudge through the lag.

Be sure to click "show all servers" then "Players only" then "USA" then look for "TreDay" and add me to your buddy list.

I'll be fiddling around with the settings and customising my car for a while (sweet customization options they've got) but I'll definitely add you to my buddy list Tek

EDIT; Playing it with the Dual Shock, but for some reason it won't let me use the D-pad for steering!

I just tried it out and it's a lot of fun. The connection issues are a PITA, though. I could only connect to one or two servers.

The Pro maps are insane. Sometimes I wouldn't go 5 seconds into a race before flipping or flying off the track.

I hope they bring the ladder back, though. I guess they weren't expecting this kind of demand?

Does this game use HDR? The dynamic time-of-day changes in SM3 kind of strike me that way. And the dynamic clouds to go along with it, yeesh. Gorgeous.

And can anyone get motion blur working on an ATI card? Doesn't seem to work at all for me.

Just finished downloading will be playing in a few. Between this and OutRun 2 Coast 2 Coast(PC version).....oh mamma.

So, uh, for those who seem to know a crapload about TM (-SD-), in the track editor's block skin selector thing, what happens when I use the Enter URL option? It doesn't seem to do much for me, but it'd be cool to see my own dynamic ad or something.

I don't know the answer to that because I don't build tracks, I'm just a racer, so I'm not very familiar with the editor.

You can ask that question on the official TM Forum here: http://www.tm-forum.com

Good luck :)

Eh, I wouldn't call it that.

I just see it as a new game that has something like 1/5th the content of Sunrise. It's missing a bunch of modes, and while the environment has a good block list, it's not as vast as the Sunrise environments, for the most part. There's also significantly more to it than the demos...

:lol @ animated ad.

The GAF cup shall be a momentous occassion.

Should we do it team stylee or regular time attack, though? I call Quellex!

And yeah, this isn't a sequel. Think of it as what Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was to Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

What's the highest speed attainable in-game? I've pushed it to 500mph, seems there's still a bit of go left at that point, though.

Woooooo!

This is fun. I'm going through the Beginning training tracks first, trying to get Golds on all of them. I'm up to C-something; I beat the Nadeo times on a couple of them so far.

Anyone interested in getting a server going? I'm surprised this topic has seemingly died, this is a really fun game! (for nothing).

Yeah, sure, I could open servers in old TMs but it didnt work with TMN somehow :/

I stopped reading Kotaku a long time ago because of idiotic stories like that. The site just does not have a clue. It's not worth a read.
