Hey GAF

Is there any way to transport melted butter 17 miles without it going cold/hard again? Thing is, there's only one cinema brand in the UK that does buttered popcorn (that I know of), and Cineworld isn't one of them.

I'm going to Cineworld tonight and I don't want to consume peasant non-buttered popcorn. I mean, who does that?

Would a flask do?

Heat it up a bit and put it in a thermos.

Edit: my coffee stays warm from 7 am and into the afternoon so I imagine the butter will be fine.

Pour it into a pouch or air tight bag, then tape it to your body. Your body heat will maintain the butter in a melted form.

Edit: beat by a minute! Alternative method is to melt the hard butter in your mouth then spit over the popcorn.

Do keep us updated, I'm fascinated to learn what happens when the cinema staff find you with a flask full of melted butter.

Who transports butter 17 miles to avoid eating "peasant non-buttered popcorn"? Who are you OP, and why does butter on popcorn matter that much to you?

If you use a plastic container you can buy one of those muscle relaxing warm pads and keep that around it. Those get pretty hot.

You can't just deal with the butter you'll get there? It's just popcorn

Well to be fair, most of the time, the stuff for the popcorn isn't butter at all. It's some sort of oil and other flavorings to make it taste somewhat like butter.

I could see someone wanting the real thing over that stuff. Even though I don't mind it on the rare occasion I'm at a movie theater.

I don't know what I'm more weirded out about, the OP, or the several replies that seem to think this is rational?

Do you realise how simple life is when you don't have to worry about transporting melted butter 17 miles?

Get one of these and modify it to dispense melted butter. Your body heat should keep the butter in liquid form:

I wear mine everywhere.

The sweet and salty popcorn the Uk does is way better anyway. Who the hell wants buttery fingers while at the movies?

My concern is, because it is butter, it'll become smelly or something.

But you sound like the type of guy who would have a dedicated butter Thermos to me. Maybe put the butter in a plastic bag, heat it up, and then store inside the thermos!

Are you traveling by stagecoach? Melted butter in a thermos isn't going to spoil in the 30 min it takes to drive 17 miles to watch a movie.

I would either saute the butter until brown (which would be extra tastey) or keep it close to 100C for a few minutes to kill any bacteria and then thermos it up.
