I should have specified earlier, but my point was that I cant imagine a modern conflict in which nuclear weapons are deployed on any level and remain as a theater weapon. These are after the weapons of the end times.

For those that don't know there are a lot of people high up in the military that want mini nukes and they were pressing Obama about them. On the other side, there were military people who thought they were a bad idea as they could "normalise" the use of nukes.

Because it's not a rumor, it's more like someone that has heard this directly is talking to reporters. And this isn't anything classified so they wouldn't be committing a crime, they'd just get fired if they were found out, thus they leak anonymously. This happens in every administration, though usually 90% of the stuff that comes out is boring.

Interesting. Apparently the smallest yield from a Davy Crockett is equivalent to 10 tons of TNT, whereas the yield from the MOAB is equivalent to 11 tons of TNT. So technically, the Trump administration has already used weapons more powerful than an atomic bomb and nobody really cares that much. Great =/

I think this comes more down to wanting to be remembered. I think the worst thing Trump would want is for his presidency to be known as an unremarkable one where nothing happened.

Let's be honest- humanity and America both have earned this ten-fold.
Well, the two differences are that a MOAB is a gigantic device that cannot be mounted on most planes because it's too heavy while the Davy Crockett is portable and the DC is designed to irradiate as area denial while a MOAB obviously doesn't produce radiation.
Makes you wonder how much radiation a "mini" nuke produces. With regular nukes the blast is so big that the radiation barely matters because everything that gets irradiated gets destroyed anyway.
And AFAIK the problem with nuclear bunker busters is that you need the bomb to ram deep into the ground but nukes are very fragile and would get smashed by the impact.

What's the point of a mini nuke, when things like moab exit? And how small is small anyway? And why would you use a bomb that leaves radioactive residue behind? Residue that can contaminate an entire region and possibly spread through weather effects across the globe. Using nuclear weapons is as irresponsible as it can get, not just because of the destruction they can bring. All weapons destroy lives. The aftereffects of nuclear weapons are to dangerous. This is an idiotic plan that will only lead to other nations following in rebuilding their nuclear arsenal.
So in a way this is a typical Trump plan. No thinking involved.
The average soldier can throw a grenade about 25 meters. You'd probably kill yourself by throwing a nuke hand granade, even if the blast wouldn't catch you. Not immediately but the radiation will hit and effect you. Just saying.
