Trump tells Brigitte Macron: 'You're in such good shape'

First, they shared an awkward handshake. Then, President Donald Trump complimented Brigitte Macron's "physical shape."

"You're in such good shape. She's in such good physical shape. Beautiful," Trump told the French President's wife, who was standing next to first lady Melania Trump.

Bro... that's sexist, disrespectful, embarrassing etc... He can't make one day without being an embarrassment for your country, what a pig.

Clearly sexist and wildly inappropriate. This is what happens when you elect a sexual assaulter as your leader.

it's Trump and Melania's 11th wedding anniversary this year, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was on the lookout for a new 'model' based on his past marriages (15 years and 6 years respectively)

Disgusting, sexist, inappropriate.

I'm also disgusted in the 4 AM female anchor on CNN, trying to shrug it off with, "That's just how he is."

No, don't fucking normalize this.

What can one expect from a self-admitted sexual offender? Boys will be boys, now with worldwide coverage.

Maybe he is, but Brigitte is in her 60's.She's 25 years older than her husband.

Just such an inappropriate thing to say to anyone. Doubly so when you're the president. Triply so when you're saying it to the wife of another Head of State.

I'm sure he didn't say: "Damn Macron, you're in a good shape my man, beautiful"

I know it doesn't looks really awful to say something like this but in France, it's very taboo to talk about women age and shit like that, it's really inappropriate.

What about all those girls he promised to before Melania though, they must be in their twenties by now

Good to see Donald taking over the baton from Prince Philip when it comes to saying wholly inappropriate things to foreign dignitaries!

Ah, the Vin Diesel technique.

You can't pull that off, Donny. Vin can't even pull it off.

well he was elected president after a recording surfaced of him saying that he likes to "grab 'em by the pussy"...

those who voted for him knew what they were getting.

Like she's a fucking horse.

Or a slave.

Literally like she's just some fucking object on display. He has to inspect her teeth.

It's probably Trump's best effort at charm. I don't think it's anywhere near his worst faux pas, although that's a low bar.

Out of morbid curiosity I wonder what happens if a president divorces and remarries within the same term? Do they swear in a new first lady or two?

Donny boy probably has a shot at finding out.

I know you guys don't like Trump, but how is complimenting a woman sexist?

It's more like saying you look fit as fuck, not you look lovely, beautiful, radiant or something. Even then, it might not be the time and place.

Still, I like to think Trump was just being comforting in a ham fisted way as someone in the other thread said she did have a drug addiction a few years ago and does look overly skinny so it could be an issue she struggles with in such a style conscious society.

Bro, it sound like: You looks good for a woman of your age...

If he wants to be polite, he should have say: "You looks lovely today, as always." and to be honest he don't have to say anything about her body, she's a first lady, did you hear Macron or any other head of state talking about Mélania body ?

Dude straight up stepped back and appraised/objectified her. Then, turned to Emmanuel and repeated the sentiment to him as if "well done on the upkeep".

Considering the guy's track record it's creepy as hell and well below his office. You're talking to the President of France's wife, multiple comments on her physical appearance/fitness seem inappropriate.

I think you could also easily take it as a comment on her age again considering his penchant for objectifying women. "You're in such good shape...", especially considering his tweets in regards to Mika Brzezinski and her "badly bleeding face" along with Hillary's health/"low stamina".

Not personally, no. But again, how was it sexist?

Would he be bringing up a guy's "good physical shape" (Creepy ass choice of words to use), and then immediately motion to their spouse about how beautiful they are, as if to say "Good job scoring that"? His words are already awkward enough, but his hand motions and the way he leers at her just take it a step further.

You don't see the difference between complimenting a woman and greeting her for the first time with, "You're in such good shape?"

From a person who is on video admitting that he thinks it's okay to sexually assault women?

He has a long history of treating women like objects. And he can't even meet one and say hi without ONLY talking about how they look.

(Oh, and let me know when Trump greets another man like this.)

I don't see this as sexist, so if it is, someone needs to correct my thoughts. Complimenting on someone else physical shape is taken as a huge compliment where I live at least, even if it happens in the first meeting.

The way he "complimented" her was weird, and coming from him it's even weirder.

See other responses above.

And the handshake yet again. He does that yanking thing to everyone. He's such a lowdown bully; you can't act like this in civilised society, yet he just gets away with it all his life to the point of becoming US President. It's one of those things: because everyone else is civilised, they kinda have to pretend he's not mauling them and acting like an animal, so he keeps doing it. I wish world leaders could all agree not to let him touch them anymore, that he's given up that right by being a douchebag about it.Or someone just outright punches him and claims self-defence.

Wait what....in what work environment do you comment on someone else physical shape on the first meeting ?

Dont know about sexist but its def. not appropriate...especially if its coming from a creep.
