From what I heard, the timetable was not a "deadline", it was to "see where they were at to make a decision on how to proceed with the next steps". He is taking a optimist route, while the MSM are trying to continue their fear mongering and hysteria engineering, sowing discord per usual.

If he were doing what they are doing now, those slimy unethical bastards would be spewing the opposite.
We can't be having unsubstantiated hope!

Hey at least he didn't send 40K ventilators to China.

Canadian doctors are currently sounding the alarm that our health care system is lacking much needed supplies as we face an inevitable uptick in COVID-19 cases. They worry about everything from ventilators in ICUs to gloves for family physicians and specialists.
These were the concerns voiced by Dr. Kulvinder Gill, President of the Concerned Ontario Doctors, when she joined me on National Post Radio on SiriusXM Canada Talks Wednesday morning.

And China is sending medical supplies to France. why did they need these supplies 8 weeks ago, but now can turn around and send supplies to France? Are they sending Canadian supplies to France?

Well to be fair there is a difference between hope and unrealistic expectations. Trump is setting up unrealistic expectations for the American people by saying things might be good enough to reopen everything by Easter. Instead of giving a hard date like that and talking about reopening the country again he could have just left it at "we will reassess the situation in the coming weeks, but we are hopeful that by then we will have more information and a better handle on the situation".

That would have given him anywhere from two to four weeks of a cushion if things happen to get worse and would have allowed him to easily backtrack his statement and prolong the measures we have in place while also giving the American people a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. But by setting a hard date like that it gives him a hard deadline (and a short one at that) to follow through on his prediction or to go back on it. Which makes him look bad if he does and Trump doesn't like looking bad. So that hard date could result in him making some rather poor choices in order to try and stick to his word. So the criticisms surrounding the statement are pretty valid in my opinion.

The contrast between your contrived criticism for Trump's leadership and Canada giving away pallets of medical supplies for the sake of virtue-signaling charity is amusing. 🤭

Trump is just giving the media some soft balls.

So when the country doesn't re open they can then switch the narrative to how horrible it is for him to reopen the country, to how big of a failure he is for not re opening it. Everyone saying how horrible it will be to reopen the country will be laughing at him when this "deadline" passes and the country isn't re opened.

My country also only put in a 2 week lockdown, but we aren't retarted with TDS so we don't think our leaders are evil racist out to kill half the population. We know its a hopeful date but if things aren't good we are in for a longer run. But hey like I said we don't all have TDS here, so our brains haven't been rotted out yet.

It's called, intellectual dishonesty. All for the ideology, comrade.

Sometimes when people start a sentence with, "Well to be fair..." you know the rest.

He's Trump. He obviously has no problem with backtracking statements. It honestly sounds like he said pretty much what you wrote, just in his typical Trump salesman/hypeman style.

But his salesman/hypeman style is the problem. We need a coherent leader right now not a glorified car salesman. His unrealistic expectations are doing nothing but misinform people to the severity of the situation.

And this is the core of the matter. Your bullshit criticisms of Trump has nothing to do with what he has actually done, but who he is.

I personally doubt that's the case. I really don't see a ton of people taking this situation lightly (other than young people for the most part who just want to party), especially as a result of anything the president might have said. Like 40% of the country already thinks he's the devil and wouldn't believe a word he said anyway.

His salesman/hypeman style just is what it is. He's not suddenly going to turn into a traditional president.

Who he is dictates what he does and what he has done. A criticism of one is a criticism of the other.
In other words you are holding him to an impossible standard. The subjective idea of what you think the president should be. You don't like "who he is", therefore everything he does is wrong. Your criticisms aren't based on reality.

It's been 4 years and you still can't get over the fact Hillary lost.

Garbage in garbage out

An NSC official confirmed the existence of the playbook but dismissed its value. “We are aware of the document, although it’s quite dated and has been superseded by strategic and operational biodefense policies published since,” the official said. “The plan we are executing now is a better fit, more detailed, and applies the relevant lessons learned from the playbook and the most recent Ebola epidemic in the [Democratic Republic of the Congo] to COVID-19.”

A health department spokesperson also said that the NSC playbook was not part of the current coronavirus strategy. “The HHS COVID-19 response was informed by more recent plans such as the foundation of the National Biodefense Strategy (2018), Biological Incident Annex (2017),and panCAP (2018) among other key plans provided by the CDC, White House Task Force, FEMA, and other key federal departments and agencies,” the spokesperson said.

Don't let a good headline go to waste for the scare stream media. Meanwhile if you read the article it says that the playbook was outdated and the US is following more updated more relevant guidelines.

I think articles like these are setting the stage to set up a commission to rate the administration after this blows over. You can expect more of them.

So I am wondering where are all the articles about Italy's PM(or President) or Spains PM(or President) and about how bad their administration fucked up. Outside of "right wing" and conservative sources I barely see anyone dumping on the CCP.

Really the only 2 leaders who get consistently dunked on and blamed for a VIRUS are Trump and Boris Johnson. Which isn't a surprise since the global SJW's and scare stream media have a hardon for both of these guys.

You would think with how bad Italy and Spain got their leaders should have their heads on pikes and we should be seeing article after article on how bad they fucked everything up. Yet I don't even know the names or titles of their world leaders because there is almost 0 mention of them in the media.

Nah, it's Trump.

He is going to tell them to shut the fuck up and that they should do better by the American people, since they have a responsibility themselves to as well.

That is what a damned leader does. Not pussyfoot around those CCP/Establishment hacks.
It's stupid for a President to engage in this continued fixation and petty back and forths with the media. It only scores points with his base because they love the theatrics. The rest of the electorate is not so amused.

This isn't the time for any of this nonsense. Igniting feuds with beleaguered governors, with press on the podium and political rivals on social media when such dire situations are happening all across the country. That's not leadership.

There is no petty back and forth. He tells them to STFU, and to do better because all they are reporting is sensationalism, fake news, and fear mongering.

His words have been working. People are waking up.

I am glad we have someone in leadership with a pair of balls to call them out right then and there. I would rather have the viscous truth, than the turn faced sweet lie allowed to fester.

It is also stupid to attempt to drive wedges between members of the task force and the president. How in the fuck does that help anything? It is also stupid to attempt to discredit hydroxychloroquine just because the president mentioned it. It is also stupid to report that an Arizona man died of it at the behest of the president after taking it and failing to mention it was actually fish tank cleaner not fit for human consumption and also tried to blame nigerians deaths on Trump. A fucking saint would lash out at these idiots if they were subject to this shit, why would you expect a boisterous loudmouth to react differently than he is. The majority of people seem to side with the president on this one so you are on the "wrong side of history" here.

Well you'll never get any truth out of him, so you're safe from any viciousness. lol

l don't know how the people around him even function when it is impossible for him to even complete a sentence without his typical false projections or disingenuous posturing. His administration and task force has to constantly remain in clean up mode.

I'll state it again. The virus is not his fault, but he's responsible for everything that took place after his Administration was briefed by his own intel. There's just no escaping that reality.

Even if every single conspiracy he's claimed about the news media and the democrats was true and justified his fragile ego, he is still responsible for his own failures to respond both timely and appropriately to this crisis.

We're looking at 100,000 cases by Monday at this point. I don't know what the death toll will look like because we're almost at the same point where China started experiencing higher deaths per day. And we now have new hotspots exploding around the country.

All this from something he characterized as the "new Democratic hoax" at one of his North Carolina rallies in February.

On testing failures:

On Trump contradicting medical experts:

On Trump giving the public incorrect policy information at various times:

There is also a bunch of staff level infighting described in the NPR interview between Trump's various underlings for Medicare, CDC, and HHS, which contributed to the lack of action and general discord of the federal government on this issue for nearly two months until Pence was appointed to lead the effort. The buck stops with Trump, and his administrations continual blunders and denial throughout January and most of February has taken us to where we are now.

Quotes are from these sources:

Trump making the worst work as always.

Im shocked!! 😯.... Well not really 😆😆

I don't know about Italy, but in Spain, many people are up in arms (figuratively speaking) about the delayed and negligent response by the government (and the media, also) The fact that the government didn't do anything about it until right after the women's day march (which was actively promoted by the government and the media) on March 8th, has made the fury of the people even more pronounced. Even back in January, any kind of comment about closing the borders with China was met with accusations of racism, xenophobia, etc by the government and the media. The pro-socialist, pro-government media are looking like the bunch of clowns that they are, trying to defend and/or justify the abysmal response to the pandemic, especially since all of them were in the "it's just a flu" train up until the day after the women's day demonstrations, when it was impossible to deny the evidence anymore.

The international press is also criticizing the spanish goverment, and with good reason.

And from the New York Times.

Oh please. He repeatedly down played the seriousness of the coronavirus. REPEATEDLY. That video that PAC is running of him doesn't even have his most erroneous statements. The worst come straight from his own tweets.

If you're going to deny something, you probably should check first to see if you've actually said it. Seriously, if his supporters are so proud of his bombastic antics and find everything he says to be gospel truth then they shouldn't be fighting it.

Trumps doing a horrible job but Cuomo is doing a great job ??

Yet Cuomo is the governor of NY which has 20K cases now and 114 deaths, Almost half the cases and 1/4 the deaths.

Its hard to say that Trump is doing shit but Cuomo is doing great. And when Cuomo asks for something he gets it, like the Masks Trumps going to send, or the emergency medical ship.

Each governor is going to have to do whats best for their state, and it seems they will have the support of the federal government.
I asked a friend of mine who is very politically fair about this.

He said that Cuomo was taking responsibility for it, while Trump said he takes none.

But - imagine if Trump said the exact same apology. If he said blame no one but me, do you think he would get articles calling him brave for taking the heat?

Not a chance. They would call for impeachment. I guarantee it.

Trump is in a damned if you do (see: China ban Feb 2) damned if you don’t (EU travel ban, but not UK).

Cuomo is dealing with responsible media who is trying to instill hope in a population getting crushed. Trump is doing the same thing, but dealing with absolute snakes.

The Socialist-led government of Pedro Sánchez reacted late and clumsily. The country lacked essential equipment. Ventilators, protective clothing for doctors and coronavirus tests are still only just being sourced. China has gone from villain to saviour, as equipment and tests pour in – much of it brokered by the same Chinese immigrant community that has closed shops and shut itself away to avoid a racist backlash.

China also doing the same thing in Italy, France and Canada. You don't think the CCP is dasterdly enough to keep the world unprepared during an epidemic to turn around and be able to "help" those countries out making it look like the hero instead of the villian. Its like a guy robbing you and then giving you back 5 bucks and you saying he is the greatest guy you ever met.

I don't think they could be that evil? Why did they take 16 tonnes of medical supplies from Canada, when a couple of weeks later they are sending supplies to Europe and even back to Canada?

He's the ultimate boogeyman, and everyone knows the TDS crowd will buy it up. Whatever Trump is for there against.

I think he had one job and that was to assembly the best team he could, and seeing the guys behind him at each PC I think he did. I also think the USA is handling this in a more logical and reasoned way. Yes right now things are bad, its bad everywhere. Its a global pandemic.

Hopefully the plans of the Corona task force work and the USA is in a better place in a few weeks because the world is going to need it. TBH the USA and Trump are the only entities that will stand up to China after this shit is over. Rest of the world is just going to go back to normal and let China Tienanmen Squar this whole thing.

But I thought it was the jews, George Soros, the globalists, etc.

Seriously though, I think that will be one of the few good things to come out this fucking pandemic. The whole feminist/identity politics bullshit movement in Spain is gonna suffer a lot of backlash after this (they already are actually) The government and the media prioritized having their feminist propaganda day over the health and the lives of many people.

A couple of days ago the government posted on their twitter about a (skype) meeting the members of our ministry of equality (yes, our government is that cucked) were having about the impact of this pandemic on women (who cares about the fact that 70% of deaths are men right?) The vitriol in the comments was biblical.

Don’t forget Australia. Create the problem, provide the solution. Imagine being an NPC falling for all of the CCP propaganda being laundered through Western leftist media.

So they purposefully removed sanitary supplies from Australia while taking a huge chunk of Canada's stockpile. Along with sending the US severely faulty tests and limiting resupply of materials to us.

I can't imagine why China would be purposefully sabotaging Western countries during the pandemic. We must all just be really unlucky.

Wow. LOL. I should probably tell you that I don't care what names anyone calls me. You're talking to a person who has worked in both Democratic and Republican campaigns.

Look, you're clearly stressed. You believe in left wing CCP cabals conspiring against the President. Just as the left believed in vast right wing conspiracies whenever a Democrat is living in the White House. I don't believe in any of that tin foil nonsense. I've seen too much in my life to drink the koolaid. Politicians get themselves in trouble. Given who they are it's just a natural occupational hazard.

I don't ever fault people for who they vote for, it's a personal choice and their given right. But not to be able to criticize or point out differences is where supporters begin to lose crucial perspective. And you've definitely lost yours.

Theyre not Gods, theyre not perfect. They're not even right most of the time. They re politicians, and they don't even dislike each other as much as their supporters hate one another. I'll go one even further, they're aren't even as invested in all of the politics we care about. They have handlers, kingmakers, spin meisters who poll and keep them engaged. Don't believe me? Join a campaign, watch it for yourself. It's very enlightening.

Trump is special though. He might actually believe his own lies. But that doesn't mean I have to accept them. It doesn't mean you have to defend them so vociferously either.

And I know you don't believe everything he says. So I never get mad at Trump supporters. You might be faithful but I don't believe you're that stupid.

It should be obvious that I don't like this guy, but I'm honestly not hoping for this President to fail during this crucial moment. I have a mother with chronic asthma, a sister with diabetes. They are BOTH at risk and haven't been able to venture out. I want this President to GET IT. This moment isn't just about him. Real lives are hanging on his every decision. So yes, I am holding him responsible for everything going on under his watch.

This is the Presidency. It the toughest job in the world. And when you don't have your act together like this President, you open yourself to any number of calamities. Like tough criticism, investigations, hearings and yes impeachment. This man loves to show his ass, so naturally adversaries are going to put a bullseye on it.

He's not unique to trouble, he's just sloppy and undisciplined, so he has more of it. He doesn't like to heed the warnings of his advisors. He doesn't have to duke it out with the press everyday. Squander the power of his office to get into junkyard dog fights?! That's stupid and unnecessary. Obama went almost a year without a press conference and hardly anybody noticed.

He picks unnecessary fights with everyone. The press, FBI the whole intelligence community, people in his own party. Insults his own generals in a tweet storm.

What for?

You think winning over Pelosi or Shumer would have been hard? Sure they don't want to hand him any victories but Democrats love big spending bills. Pelosi would have pushed the kind of large infrastructure bill through Congress that he wants so badly. Nancy may be getting along in years and looks rather shakey these days but she knows how to pull the many caucus groups in her party together and vote in line. Even for shit they don't want to do. Get that bitch on your side for what you need! Shit, even Newt and Clinton took meetings and passed legislation during all their fights and disagreements. And the Clintons ran the nastiest, meanest political machine ever created.

Oh, what a wall of text I've created. I apologize for that, but I could write a book about Trump's self inflicted injuries. Hires like Flynn, Manafort? Kissing Putin's ass all the time? Firing Comey. Nobody on the left made him do any of that shit. Those guys were scum long before 2016. Yeah and I mean Comey too.

Oh Let me stop.

You answered your own question. It wasn't just hard, it was practically impossible.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt until that point. There's a disconnect preventing you from seeing that Trump was never given an opportunity to work with the Dems. He was labeled a racist, sexist, xenophobic, treasonous fascist from the very beginning and the media amplified that message so loudly that "the resistance" opposed almost everything he supported.

That peaceful transition of power between Obama's admin and his own never really occurred. They never accepted the results of the 2016 election and were doing everything in their power to undo it with the help of their lackeys in the media, the same people now siding with China over America. Sitting by and taking that incoming fire 24/7/365 was never an option.

Speaking as someone who spent 15+ years in the videogame industry and who also posts on NeoGAF, I know an appeal-to-authority fallacy when I see it.

Perhaps you should team up with this community's Political Philosophy Major so you can tag-team each other in threads.

Eh, take me at my meaning or follow your own misguided conclusions. It makes no difference. And I certainly dont need anyone's affirmation.

Try that phony intellectualism on someone else.

Funny. Last person that got upset at being called out and sperged with the petty 'phony intellectualism' reaction immediately went into picture-spamming and literal 'no u' level of engagement immediately afterwards.

All it showed was that they had no actual argument that held water. And that their offense at a perceived gulf in intellect was more about one standard being very low, rather than the other being very high.

My point stands.
Appeal to authority fallacy, whilst certainly not the first red flag, remains a prominent one.
