Nah, the first 3 MMPR seasons really weren't great at all. Like, the Green Ranger arc, the White Ranger's first appearance, and The Wedding are the only real stand out episodes. And I say this as someone who was obsessed with MMPR when it first debuted. But I was a kid back then; watching it again years later... Oof. It's very rough around the edges.

Well I just watched all 3 seasons. S1 was really fun. It had a spark that nothing else had so far. S2 and 3 were total ass but I still was enjoying myself somewhat. But I'll legit fight for S1. Stock footage or not. That was fun television.

I'd say its length and the fact that early episodes follow more of a standard formula with less storytelling early on has a lot to do with that.

Zeo feels like this weird transitional period where they wanted to do a legitimate superhero show like Sentai was, but were still only growing out of the original methods of MMPR.

Let's go, Red Puncher!!

Yeah, Zeo feels like it's starting to carve out a stronger identity, but it still has the trappings of the original seasons that it'll lean on. I do think the out-of-suit stuff has been more entertaining, finally; before, that stuff was a chore to watch. Not everything's a hit, but a lot more of it is in comparison to the earlier episodes. They finally gave Rocky material, for example! Yeah, he's basically Yamcha, but I like that the show is finally embracing his loser status; dude barely had any lines at all in the previous season.

I'll never get the chat freaking out at the new movie. The entire show is a shitty cashgrab. What the fuck people?

Zeo feels to have better stories, acting and overall characterization when they're out of their suits. MMPR1-3 however had more unique and better fighting, probably because that's what it did best and it was more consistent. Zeo's changing what PR is while also keeping it's remains.

Overall I'd say that Zeo's better than PR. For the fight? I'd watch MMPR instead.

One is a cashgrab with a heart made on small budget
The other is a modern dookie cashgrab made with lots of money and no soul

Completely agree. 1 is campy as hell and undeniably bad, but it has a charm you can't fake. I even like 2 (although not quite as much) but it becomes a lot more...I dunno, manufactured after 1?

Let's be real they all exist to sell toys, but Season 1 is just fun. Now that it's over I'm legitimately a little sad.

Yeah, Tommy's brother was played by JDF's real brother, Erik Frank.

He passed away only a couple months before Thuy Trang (Trini) did.

Really? You really think there was heart behind this? More than the new movie?

To a certain extent. It's not quite as inspired as Sentai of its time, but they tried to make something with what they were given and they were breaking new grounds with it.

Being sponsored by toy companies doesn't preclude shows from being good.
