So,Ubisoft Brazil has a weekly program called Ubisoft Responde, that can be transcribed as Ubisoft Answers, were they pick up questions that the viewers ask and respond them on the show. This week program, the show runner talks about "DLC content",at the mark of 3:00 minutes. I will do my best to transcribe exactly what he says, but my english is not perfect, so sorry for any mistakes.

Link for the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huO4SQ87d54

This question was asked:

"Ubisoft, why do you charge for DLC and expansions? Why the game doesn't comes out complete?"
His answer:
"Don't be complainers. Try to understand this stuff. Here's the deal, there is two things, one is the DLC that is a small amount of content that enables you to use some new guns, skins etc. This is usually to personalize the game to those who want. The other is the expansion, what is an expansion? Well, it's an expansion. It enlarge the game. This is not necessary for the game. The game is always delivered complete to you guys, we guarantee. All the expansions that we deliver has more things that we spent more time of the team developing. You like the game? Want more? You don't need to wait for the next game, there is an expansion with more adventure, more content, more everything.

Just stop complaining. Really, guys. This comes from me not directly from Ubisoft, just stop complaining about everything. Wait for a moment, think about what you're going to say... We develop fun, but this is a business. Stop and think about it, we develop fun, if we invest more time and money to it, our team needs to get paid."
So, as you might think, the video is getting it's ass kicked with over 10 thousand dislikes (really). Until this moment, Ubisoft haven't made any official statement about it.

The "Stop complaining" ideia is so absurd that i don't even know where to begin with. Ubisoft isn't in a good spot right now to say this kind of stuff, with dumb micro-transactions, chests locked bu smartphones, some really bad season passes and games that comes out incomplete and just a mess.

Davy Jones, an Brazilian gaming channel is spreading the word about this in our country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr6Uj4nMdbk

I used a bit of MarquesZero post about it http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=153664133&postcount=3,i think there's no problem in using parts of his post since he can't post threads and i think this is something that should be discussed.

Best way to not complain about shitty DLC is to not even buy the game.

If we don't try and charge you multiple times for content that should have been included, how would we get paid.

pls understand

People dumb enough to continue buying Ubisoft games new have nothing to complain about. They're directly supporting this shit.

Don't support a companies practices? Don't buy their games, or buy them used.

He says that as if their sequels are so far apart from each other that expansions are necessary to keep fans sane for a while. I guess they assume everyone's patience abruptly runs out less than a year later.

Yeah don't complain. Don't buy.

^ thats what ubisoft has been delivering been a while.

not to mention, if you're in brazil... games arent really the cheapest thing. I know that it might make the market here kind of impossible but, we CANT give the support needed if its out of our reach.

im sorry but both sides need to bend in order for things to work in brazil. its not cheap to the consumers, they dont buy because they need to pay for other stuff. If we dont buy, our market is weak and scares the companies away.

pretty much a vicious cycle.

expansions are as costy as a new game for us. thats why we complain. CANT BE SPENDING BIG TIME ALL TIME, F WORD YOU UBI.

Holy fuck, that was kinda painful to watch. To tell the truth, he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about, since what he calls DLC are actually microtransactions.

While I kinda agree that, in some cases, DLC (and even cosmetic microtransactions) can be a good thing, the way he says sounds a bit condescending and even arrogant.

Well, to be honest, the question wasn't correct either. DLCs and expansions (especially expansions) are welcome, games that are designed with them in mind aren't. I want to beleive that the original idea of the question was somehow lost in translation, though.

Still a very unprofessional and downright rude answer from Ubisoft representative (no matter what he says about the personal nature of his answer).

thats all good and dandy, but telling gamers to stop complaining always has the opposite effect

Quite frankly, the Ubisoft formula is so boring by the end of the game (Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, etc)... I'd probably pay them more money to remove content from the base game...

Thread title: "Ubisoft Brazil tells costumers not to complain about their DLC and expansion policies"
Story: "This comes from me not directly from Ubisoft"

Person is a jerk off but at least say Ubisoft's Brazillian community manager or whatever.

I gotta give props for Ubi. Like, I still don't like it, but they're not like other companies that say "Well we have timetables for this dlc and stuff", no they just say 'SUCK IT UP KIDDO AND DON'T COMPLAIN.'

Gotta give em props. But they still suck

I don't complain, since I don't buy their games anyway. I bought Rayman Legends because my wife wanted it. That's probably the only Ubi game I've bought in the last 5 years.

That's irrelevant. Even with that qualifier, he's expressing that message on one of their official channels. It would be a different story if he was doing this on his own channel or video. This is approved content that he's acting as a spokesman for.

Eh, it's in line with the tone of their "Ubi Responde" video. The guy even says that's him talking not Ubisoft. It's like a community manager saying something stupid on the official forum.

Honestly, Ubisoft is investing more in Brazil than most other publishers so...

Why does the thread title says Ubisoft Brazil when we said that's not Ubisoft but himself who thinks this?

That's weak, either you don't like what they're doing and it's not worth the purchase or it's worth the purchase and you buy it new, full price or not.

If you want to take a stand at least have the balls to go all the way.

I disagree. Like I say, I think he's out of line but I'm not going to act ignorant in the name of sensationalism. The approval process for community content like this is probably not very thorough from a corporate perspective anyway.

yep yep and yep
of course it will be taken out of context and be ripped appart here.

ubisoft brazil is quite good for their players actually. they are very present.

The part about taking a second to think before you write something is never a bad statement in me eyes, but it's hard to take this all seriously when he writes this:

The game is always delivered complete to you guys, we guarantee.

I just don't know about this. My gut tells me it isn't the case. The "relationship" they've fostered with their customers just doesn't really lend to me giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, I want more of the full priced game I paid for on Day 1 of Launch.

Day 1 DLC still just gets under my skin. I've heard the arguments in it's defence. DLC in principle when done right is OK but Ubi aren't really practionitioners of this.

Then that's Ubisoft's problem. If I was running a game company and knew that there was a community rep going around saying stupid stuff like this, he'd be bounced out the door. Him trying to skirt responsibility by saying its his personal opinion is irrelevant because he's acting as a representative of the company in that video.

Ubisoft's complete disregard for PR sensibility and tact is now a problem internationally - there's a serious need for some internal training across their divisions.
