next gen tech sounds good but has any game used hybrid ray-tracing before?what does it look like ?
Refl and shadows, no lighting. We need to wait for game release , but right now looking at those req that hybrid RT sounds like much more demanding solution then Nvidias propritery tech as that even has lighting in some games. Are they using RT just for reflections or also lighting?
What are you even talking about?
Are you sure it was ray tracing in some games that made people loathe the Series S? I thought it was weaker gpu and ram. In fact, I thought people were even posting quotes from some devs who were questioning the ram.
Its a FarCry game....you really want hybrid RT reflections enough to post that this sucks? This sucks!
Turn on FSR (Quality) and you'll probably get 60 FPS.
You'd be able to do even better than that if the game had DLSS, but unfortunately the game is AMD sponsored and only supports FSR at this time...
That chart just highlights the weakness of RDNA2 hardware RT IMO, RTX 3070 in the same tier as 6900 XT in the 1440p60 column with RT on.
Consoles won't be running the game at Ultra, they could probably come close to 4K60 with med. settings, if that chart reflects reality.
I think that chart is wrong because they have a 6900xt for 1440p with RT at 60, but have a normal (non-XT) 6800 for 4k30.What a fucking bullshit, so at 1440P 60fps RT they see the 6900xt equall to RTX 3070 but at 4K 30 RT the 6800XT is equall to the RTX 3080? Don't take this recommendation to serious, they just put some random specs.
AMD just wasnt ready for Raytracing.Next-generation was a mistake. I think both Microsoft and Sony should have held off.

What sucks is I have a brand new PS5 and Xbox Series X and it is frustrating that not many games are trying to push the new hardware that hard yet. I couldn't find a 3090 for a decent price btw. I have been very impressed with Insomniac's PS5 games. I really like the Raytracing in those games. It's noticeable to me. Then again I'm a former game developer, so I'm not quite a typical gamer either. Its a FarCry game....you really want hybrid RT reflections enough to post that this sucks?
You probably wouldnt even notice the RT in the game if it was active.
PCMR baby! lol jk. Don't care. I can't even sniff an rtx card.
Claim in their advertising was it would be the same experience as the Series X at a lower rendering resolution. It was anything that made it not exactly the same as series X - which allegedly made Series S "not next gen" and "false advertising". This included Ray Tracing in many examples.
Ray Tracing makes a bigger difference to games than buttery smoothe frame rate?Let's go back to 30fps. This is a failed experiment
Yup and still supporting last gen mechanical drives.
poor optimisation
a classic Ubisoft
Think of this generation as the most boring generation ever. Nothing really groundbreaking, just PS4 graphics with a pixel boost. YAWN.Ray tracing is a marketing tool on consoles the same way 4k has been.
Think the best of this generation is that finally we can play most of games at 60fps..and some at native 4k.

With this particular game it looks like it should be.. we would have to see I guess.
A little surprised XSX can't handle raytracing in this though. Developers did say, way back that the XSS could hinder cross platform games. Maybe we are seeing that? Be interesting to see how generation develops.
Don't think too hard on thisRay Tracing makes a bigger difference to games than buttery smoothe frame rate?
I'd say it's RT that is often a waste of resources. 60fps is kinda important for the gameplay part of the game.60 fps is a huge waste of resources
Either they're being lazy or this tells me they're having a hard time locking to 60fps. Increasing fov too much can have an impact on fps, so using a low fov is one way to eek out a few extra frames. Why is this a fucking thing still? wake up devs, console players want fov slider too especially if your games default fov is low as fuck...

My point still stands, next-gen is a joke, a complete disappointment for me. I think after this generation I'm done with gaming for good.AMD just wasnt ready for Raytracing.
CU count we are actually fine.
PC games can just future proof themselves by throwing everything they have.
Comparing PC max to console will always make you feel bad for no good reason.
Next-gen isn't even here we are still making last-gen games. It's fucking joke and that shit pisses me off. I should have just quit gaming and said fuck it but I already invested into next-gen. Sorry but next-gen is a joke and I can give a flying fuck if I offend anyone with my words.Makes sense, these consoles need a mid gen refresh already.
Basically a confirmation that it isn't native 4k 60 even without RT on consoles. If it doesn't have DLSS for that 60 fps 4K DLSS goodness then Ubi failed.
Nope. 1080p-1440p 60fps RT should be doable.Booooooooooo, give us an RT/30 mode!
Once again, these weak consoles aren't good enough for 4K/60 with all the bells and whistles.
Won't be long at all until we're right back to 30fps.
PC is great for the likes of you , it's still too early to abandon the hobby , give it a second chance. My point still stands, next-gen is a joke, a complete disappointment for me. I think after this generation I'm done with gaming for good.
