I seriously would not be surprised if it turns into a AC game. No way in hell they will cancel it though.

Hype for next AC game increases instead?

Hm, drawing conclusions because of an AC avatar? I liked the design and never got around to changing it. One of my favourite games last gen was brotherhood. Since then the series has taken a nose dive.

My hype for watch dogs decreased after I seen how brown and mundane gameplay looked.

Driver: Chicago

Not a chance.

You weren't far from the truth, to be fair.

Parts of Watch Dogs actually started out as a full-blown new Driver game from Reflections before it was incorporated into Watch Dogs. Not to mention, Reflections is still involved in part of WD's development.

it's not ac5, yeesh

yes, but you see, Yves Guillemot personally took a 6 month sabbatical from the company so he could hand-write this trademark cancellation document. he signed it, crying, as he personally passed it in to the USPTO, knowing that his one grand idea for a new IP was cancelled, rolled into a minigame mode in Assassin's Creed.

now we have known insider John Harker confirm that while the game is NOT ac5, it could be ac6. or ac7. or ac8. obviously.

It won't get cancelled, and if it does, it would be a record or something for a late full cancellation. This was supposed to be a launch bundle with consoles afterall.

But the gameplay looked boring as hell, and the "hacking" just looked like a similar mechanic to Bioshock Infinite (i.e., while shooting you click on stuff to make it change. In infinite, it would be Liz warping something in, in this game it's turning off lights or whatever)

So maybe this is getting some extended development time more than initially planned, and possibly a rebrand?

I think Half Life on Dreamcast gets a record for full late cancellation. Ubi certainly had no problem with an extremely late delay for the game.

I agree that the game looks boring as hell. The whole game to me does come across as the type of thing that is really ambitious but not that fun. I could see this game getting cancelled. Most likely they are just changing the name though. Watch Dogs was a pretty stupid name to begin with. It should be City Slappers.

Watch_Dogs delayed until Holiday 2015 to be AC6?

Watch_Dogs delayed until Holiday 2015 to be AC6.

It doesn't have the underscore. Would that make a difference for the trademark? They may have just kept the one with the underscore and let the other variations go.

That's what I was thinking. But for arguements sake, what would happen if Ubisoft actually chose not to release Watch Dogs?

edit: nevermind missed the tweet where it's not cancelled. Oh well.

Assassin's Creed: Broken Links, a game about modern day templars installing ctOS in major cities to instill their philosophy of order through information control to the population.

fueled by the tears of french CEOs

Its a bit weird to see this, frankly. Not too sure why they would abandon the trademark in advance of revealing any new info. Time will tell of course, but I hope they don't turn it into a forced AC game. (No, don't tell me 'maybe it was always a part of the plan', if this is what ends up happening it was a decision half way through developement.)

Also:
Watch Lion
Epic.
Assassin's Creed V: Swat Kats.

Oh, duh. "Nonuse for two consecutive years shall be prima facie abandonment", filed June 2012. So, I guess this hints towards holiday 2014?

Basically, it sounds like that they're cancelling and reapplying for "Watch Dogs" so that it doesn't automatically expire in June."

NEVERMIND

"Dan Teasdale ‏@deliciousbees 9m
...oh wait, there's no "Watch_Dogs" in TESS. And they were granted an extension for "Watch Dogs" just last week. Weird."

HERE IS MY NEW THEORY

Watch_Dogs is obviously Assassin's Creed 5: Watch_Dogs. That much has already been proven by facts in this thread.

But what about The Division? We haven't heard about it for a while. I think The Division is really Assassin's Creed 6. And I've been thinking about it. We know the theme of the game is how money makes people sick because it carries bird flu, but in the post-money society you need to savenge for loot to sell for money, which you use to make people sick? Right? And then something about confetti? I'm not a smart guy but that's basically what I could tell from the E3 presentation. Anyway, I was thinking about how Cash Rules Everything Around Me CREAM get the money dollar dollar bill y'all

So I'm reasonably certain that Assassins Creed 6 is the Division and features Wu-Tang as playable characters.

So the possibilities:

1. Cancelled: Unlikely given how much they've shown of the game, which looks like a good deal amount of work even if the gameplay is aped off of another certain franchise of Ubisoft's.

2. Assassin's Creed: Speaking of said other franchise, the game could be incorporated and rebranded as being a part of it. Gameplay is similar, and some stones were laid down in what was likely just an easter egg in ACIV. Better chance of happening than Chicago not receiving anymore snow this winter, but only just.

3. Marketing reboot: Given the time between showings of the game, with only an indefinite delay to offer news, likely the game is going to have undergo a fresh marketing approach short of rebranding. What this has to do with trademarking, I have no idea, but it's the most plausible.

4. Detective GAF has failed and this means absolutely nothing:
Does anyone have BINGO?
It wouldn't be the first time.

Not sure you can do that with express abandonment.

So that would make it Tom Calancy's Assassin's Creed 6: The Division?

Finally a game where the NYC setting makes sense.
