He was going to ask for Jon Jones at the White House for the heavy weight belt, but called it back and asked for a minute of silence in Jones brother memory

The Hero we need!

Alex must have legit fucked up his foot. He looked weirdly off balance after landing that right hand on Ankalaev.

On one hand I don't think Ankalaev deserves a rematch after such an embarassing defeat, not even 1 title defense under his belt, he needs to earn it again, on the other Alex already beat everyone else worth beating and Ankalaev is the only fighter who beat him fair and square at LHW.

Curious to see what the UFC will do next.

But man I'm finding the Ank excuses quite hilarious, they're now saying he was fighting with broken ribs, well that's on him, no one made him do that, same with Alex supposedly being sick in the first fight.

They do pereira vs aspinal at the white house and ulberg vs jiri for the vacant title.

Or ulberg vs pereira.

Hilarious, these excuses. In the comments they state what I would have said. He strikes poses and moves around fine and got jammed with those 2 elbows to open him up for the finish. Poor form and excuses.

It's definitely true what they say about them people from Eastern Europe and Russia. They grow up fending for food and wrestling bears and pulling logs for food and shelter. These are ironclad people. Jiri has a Japanese 6th cousin removed.

If he's injured then he should've called off the fight, simple as. Also, all DC said was that he had a "rib injury", never said anything about it being broken but the media and Ank fanboys will have a field day with this now.
And in my admitedly uneducated opinion, if he indeed had broken ribs those elbows from Pereira would've destroyed him. I know a guy who broke a rib and he said it was the most painful month of his life, literally every small movement he made cause extreme pain. It doesn't matter how strong or pain resistant you are, no way you're getting up that easy after taking elbows like that to the exact rib you broke beforehand. Unless you're loaded up on pain drugs...

But at the end of the day just like Poatan's "40%" claim doesn't excuse him from the first loss, this injury doesn't excuse Ankalaev, as a belt defense this fight was farcical. As a casual striking fan who usually dislikes too much wrestling it was absolutely lovely to watch though, a great palate cleanser after Chimaev vs Du Plessis.

I don't know, i call it a bogus. It's one thing to fight a virus, which would directly affect weight cut, resistance, stamina, etc. Another is to fight with a "recent" broken rib that you can't barely move.

I got a aligned (cracked but it has stayed in place) broken rib in January from BJJ. The first few day you simply can't get out of bed without some heavy twisting or someone helping you. Breathing hurts, every twisting movement hurt, etc. The doctor even prescribed me Codeine for when shit hits the fan in the first few weeks but I didn't took it. Eventually it gets better but you still can have some serious complications if you take a beating in the same place.

Anyway...
40% Poatan = 3x2 rounds Ank (the first fight was way closer than many of the Dag fans wants to admit)
"40%" Ank = 40 seconds in front of Poatan.

I think this guy will have to basically clean the division again for Dana to give him another title shot.
