UK: Porn site age verification laws could force users to register credit cards

The Government is going to force everyone to register to use porn sites.

All sites that contain pornographic material will be forced to verify that their users are over 18, forcing them to register their age and potentially even their credit card details.

The Government has previously said that sites that don’t comply with the ruling could be banned from advertising or even shut down entirely.

What's with the UK obsessing over pornography?

Edit: Didn't they also try to ban small breasts or some shit?

What is up with the UK and its fear of porn? Hell they make our Republicans seem reasonable in regards to the same issue.

I think that was Australia, they tried to ban face sitting and squirting though. Fucker. This shit needs to be nipped in the bud.

First they came for the face sitters, but I thought female domination was overrated so I said nothing.
Then they came for the squirters but that was not my fetish so I didn't care
After that they came for the women with smallest titties, but I liked women with tig ol bitties so I fapped way.
Then they came for those who like interracial cuckold gangbangs
(don't judge)
and I had no one to speak for me.

This pisses me off to no end, but at the same time, I can't help but laugh thinking about what kind of political legacy some of those involved are leaving behind. Being remembered for participating in / leading the war on porn must be one hell of an achievement.

Why would they self incriminate though? If porn sites require registrations, surely they will become a bigger target for hackers. Then half of the government will have credit card details leaked from pig-fucking porn sites.

How exactly do you do a study on how damaging porn is to young kids?

I can just imagine some Tory with a whip/cane sitting down a load of kids in a sweat shop forcing them to watch the worst porn and then studying them for years. Almost like those poor victorian kids from years gone by.

I just don't see how they plan to do this on a global scale. Are they going to approach xhamster etc to make it a requirement for UK peeps to register their credit cards?

UK Government still treating the Internet as if it is some sort of regional phenomenon with enforceable borders.

Just read internet community posts and you'll see the damaging long term effects porn has had on our young minds.

EDIT: effects, not affects. OH NO! The long term damage has got to me!

Why is it so terrible for someone under 18 to look at pornography?

I mean, yeah, okay, it's probably not a good idea to grab an 8-year-old and say, "Hey kid, look at this video of hardcore anal fisting."

But a 14-year-old kid who's interested in sex because his hormones are fucking raging? What's the harm in letting him see some titties?

Ridiculously enough, the best pornsite comments are absolute GOAT material. Once you've gotten to that point, there is absolutely no pretense, and it's a lot of fun when people just run with it.

They are probably jealous kids today don't have to go foraging in the woods for porn like yesteryear. Probably to toughen them up or something. Guess what Cameron I don't eat the meat I kill either.

I for one welcome our new British refugees. Here's Germany 101:

- you need a football team, go with the HSV for the most action
- learn a bit of German, even if most people should understand you just fine, we like it if you put in some effort
- no matter what they tell you, just say "Moin" when you want to greet someone
- if a Bavarian gentleman looks at you angrily after you said "Moin", follow up with "Ich mag Brötchen" and witness his Bavarian soul dying deep inside
- be nice to people

I'll play devils advocate........

The issue is that (most?) pornography doesn't portray sex or sexual relations in a very realistic way, it can warp the perception of what is usual and what isn't, it also tends to be pretty misogynistic, it's not really how a 14 year old should learn about sex.

Sounds like the solution to that is decent sex ed. Not huge restrictions on the open nature of the Internet.

This is a valid concern, but should be handled through better sex education in schools and from parents.

'Most' would be more appropriate. That aside, if 14-year-olds are learning about sex from porn or go in thinking it's realistic, that says a lot about the quality of their sex-ed.

And there it is. Not much more needs to be said. If sex ed wasn't a joke then teens wouldn't have to trounce the internet for shitty porn to learn how sex stuff works. How is that hard for dodgy Dave to understand?
