Uncharted 4 Game Informer preview details [Up: Will have multiplayer]

Taking bets on whether at some point in the game you end up playing as Sam or not.

of course you do

Worrying lack of talk regarding Sully in that list. I hope he won't take a backseat to the extent that he did in Among Thieves. I mean it's Sully; the old guy is practically the best thing about the franchise.

It's irritating because I want to experience an entire game, not half of it.

that's an awfully superfluous thing to be irritated by, especially since I'm assuming nothing is lost by picking one path over another, in the context of a single complete playthrough. That sort of sentiment just comes off as whiny for whining's sake :/

Make all Sully levels turret escort/on-rails levels so they don't have to worry about the old guy falling and breaking his hip. Boom, GOTG.

I doubt the side stories are as extensive as we are thinking. Probably codec or a series of linked treasure that can help us unlock more clues/treasures.

I hope by multiple paths they really mean multiple paths and not just... two different paths. With "multiple" being touted I'd expect at least three different paths. Oh and it better not be limited to only a few sections of the game -- I better be able to branch off in nearly every combat scenario.

Don't lock me into a combat scenario and force me to kill everybody to cause a trigger to happen so I can move forward. I hope that's something they've taken as a lesson learned because if I manage to sneak past everyone I should be able to move forward to the next section.

And there were parts in TLOU where you're forced to kill everyone in a combat section despite how much more open and how the game encourages you to sneak. Definitely don't like that and hope it's not going to happen here, either.

Loving the sound of levels being more open to tackling how you like. Day -1 I need this in my life ND the Gods.

And the tools helping you do this and possibly linking them into the puzzles.

Everything mentioned sounds fantastic. And in a way I'm glad they keep having to mention the humor every time since I want it and it's one of my favorite parts of the series lol.

I think it's too early to worry about it since we haven't gotten a full story trailer yet but I agree I want Sully along as much as possible for plenty of Sully's banter to be in this game.

Uncharted is a third person shooter so it is going to have forced shooting sequences for sure. The stealth is for providing combat options and breaking line of sight and not for doing no kill escapes throughout the game.Of course I am sure parts of the game may allow the player to do that but you will def have to shoot dudes in the face in the game.

No mention of TLOU gore?

"At the start of U4 Drake is living an happy life with Elena, then Sam appears"

All I needed to know. E is back thankfully. I hope she is still a big part of the story.

That first part is obvious considering how UC3 ended. As for Elena, it sounds like she and Sully will be getting smaller roles this time which is the only thing that bothers me in this article. Hopefully I'm wrong.

- Showed multiple paths, one finding an extra cave, other bypassing a group of enemies
- Focusing on navigational freedom for this entry
- In the demo they showed Drake taking a more riskier climbing route, that almost makes him fall in the sea
- All paths have consequences, there's no "Golden path"

SOLD

Sounds amazing....especially the multiple paths and tools bit. Next gen snow is going to look amazing.

I'm really like Nathan's brother as well. At first I thought he was going to be sinister but he sounds like a great brother :D

Man, I want to see Chloe and Cutter. Especially Cutter, that guy was my favorite Uncharted 3 character.

...I can't tell if this is sarcasm or if you fail at critical thinking.

Open ended designed means more dynamic combat and exploration, you're still getting from point A to point B.

What, when Mass Effect gets announced do you smash the wall over having branching paths and choices?

This game is going to be so damn good. Would be cool if they did something with the PS4s interactive streaming too.

I mean, I know how the stealth stuff works and all and for the sections where they intend you to stealth kill it's fine but there's instances where they set it up like it's intended for you to stealth kill but in reality it's not possible to do it. The ballroom on the Cruise ship (Chapter 14) in UC3 is a great example of what I'm talking about. Drake basically implies you to do it quietly but no matter what you're set up to get caught even if you're super good at killing the first few guys without getting spotted.

In TLOU, an even better example of this (I even did this recently on the Remastered version) is the combat scenario where Ellie is sniping and you're out in this area with all the buildings in a plaza-like area (it's after the hotel). You can absolutely stealth kill all the dudes that are walking around and crap but once you do, there's (purposefully) enemies placed behind the bus and fences leading to your "end point" (the garage door which leads to you having to sneak past the tank-turret thing) just waiting for you and ready to get triggered if you step into that area. You cannot literally stealth through this section of the game as you have to alert them either by throwing a bottle/brick or by actually trying to shoot them from afar with an arrow (if you have enough).

Parts like that really irk me, especially in a game like TLOU. It shouldn't ever be like that in TLOU. I could tolerate it in Uncharted but I don't like that kind of set-up anyway because it feels really cheap. If you're going to make it possible to stealth, I should be able to do it all stealth -- don't force me into combat like the above. It's terrible game design.

Consider me hyped, this all sounds great. I am predicting at least 2 or 3 Goonies references and a Cyndi Lauper song on the soundtrack.

If only they would release the remastered trilogy before Uncharted 4, that would be great!

Well done open ended design can mean that. But there's been plenty of games where they say "we give the player more freedom, the choice between stealth and combat, blah blah" and inevitably either one way to play is significantly more overpowered than the other or they both suck (Unity). TLoU toed the line well in giving players options but it isn't unreasonable to be a little worried when a dev says something like that. Again ND are the best of the best but it's still an area a lot of games have managed to stumble in.

And the Mass Effect comparison is poor because it's a completely different series with entirely different goals in narrative. Though yes it does pretty much force you to replay to see both sides of the coin, as does Infamous and at times it can certainly feel like padding.
